HP ProBook s 4330: UEFI recovery

Hello world

Brief history of the problem:

I tried to convert my dynamic GPT partitions based, changed the code manually and got BSOD when booting, Windows wasn't loading but at least tried to. UEFI (menu BIOS graphic nice) worked very well at this point.

I booted from a Linux distribution and tried to change the partitions back codes. At this point, something was wrong and I lost partitions HP_Recovery and HP_Tools. Pretty graphic menu missing BIOS, the system has stopped, loading at all.

I booted from a USB key again and I tried to restore the partitions. My scores are now looking at this:

MBR (1 MB) - system (300MB) - (400 GB) - unallocated space (46GB) - HP_RECOVERY (15 GB) - HP_TOOLS (5 GB)

I was able to successfully mount them and check the files - everything seem normal.

Tried to fix my Windows, started from an ISO and it gave an error "System Recovery Option is not compatible with the version of windows that you want to repair" while I don't know the version is the same. Tried to install Windows from scratch - turned out he does not see the disk at all (I did not try to inject the drivers however).

Now, I'm a little hesitant how to proceed. I can't repair Windows because he does not see the drive. I can't go into the BIOS settings, just diagnosis of options. My HP_TOOLS and HP_RECOVERY appear to be healthy but just somehow is not accessible. First of all can I correct my UEFI? But how?

Some additional information: when the laptop starts up, it gives me standard options F1, F2, F9 (select boot device). Under F9 I see options such as "HARD disk", "Upgrade Bay" and "USB" (if inserted), but both "HARD drive" and "Upgrade Bay" cause a message clear indicating "no found boot device".

Please notify, any help is very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, I guess I'll post my solution here for future generations.

1. I have recovered and reactivated the HP_TOOLS partition using these instructions:

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/other-notebook-PC-questions/how-to-use-the-HP-BIOS-update-UEFI-utility/TD-p/337347

2. I backed up my entire HARD drive using the USB external with gparted (debian based) usb live. Then I deleted the corrupted partition table completely, gdisk order if someone interested. I'm not 100% sure but I think I've changed the table of gpt for msdos.

3. then in BIOS/UEFI - still not sure what it is - GUI Advanced BIOS-as - changed my HARD from AHCI to IDE disc type.

4. started from ISO of Windows and this time it has detected my drive. Even more, I managed to launch repair and restore all my partitions and bootloader.

5 tried to run - had a BSOD, but at least it was loading my old Windows now.

6 a changed type of disk HARD back from IDE to AHCI - and voila! -my old Windows started normally.

Now he's back in basic disks as I wanted, the only thing all the partitions except air system damaged now. I guess that the Windows repair tool just didn't care for them. It's kinda weird that I was able to read the files on them to Linux and both systems say it is an NTFS partition that is healthy, but it does not look good. Probably, I'll try to recreate it using my backup, but this is already another story.

    Hello!

I am trying to install windows 7 with uefi since a deployment server windows (server with MDT update 1 2012 2012 load).  It works well in the old bios boot mode, but I want it to work as well in the UEFI.

However when I put the laptop (ProBook 4340 s) UEFI boot mode and pxeboot. After he download wdsnbp.com I get just met by the error screen

    Initialization error

"there is an error produced with the selection of start check the media is present and try again.

    and an ok button.

According to the documentation update of mdt 2012 1 do both UEFI and Bios Legacy Boot.wim compatible and that it should "work" so I think that the problem is with the WDSNBP (wdsnbp.com/bootmgfw.efi/pxeboot.com) files. Or that the laptop does not support pexbooting in uefi to a wds mode.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

As far as I know, after much taken with this problem. I have concluded that the 4340 s of HP ProBook. Does not support the Pxebooting mode UEFI.

It does, however work on Pxeboot in Legacy bios mode.

    If anyone can confirm this?

  • HP ProBook 430 G3: USB recovery enough?

    Hello!

I have a HP ProBook 430 G3 with Windows 7. I think install Ubuntu LTS 16.04 and wipe the drive completely in the process, including the recovery partition. If I for some reason any later wanting to 'factory reset' laptop / reinstall Windows 7, a USB key with recovery media will be sufficient to insert and boot from?

My thoughts are to use "Create recovery media" in "HP Recovery Manager' to create the USB said. Is it enough to get the laptop to factory condition?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hello:

Yes, it's normal procedure to recover the PC when there is no recovery partition, or you replace the hard drive.

You can also order HP recovery media if the recovery USB disk that you create does not work.

In the USA/Canada the number to dial is: 1-800-334-5144.

Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer service rep.

If your laptop is still under warranty, HP can send you free of charge for you recovery disks, then you can just see if you can order a set for free while you can.

  • Internet connection lost when power is removed Probook s 4330

    HP probook 4330 s

    Windows 7 Ultimate + service pack 1 64-bit

Driver: Microsoft 3.0.0.41 RALINK driver (up to date when I do a search)

When I remove its internet external power is lost.  The wireless connection always seems to be in place, but there is no traffic.  I can't ping anything in this case.

The only way to get this up and running again is to

    1. Insert the AC power

    2. restart the service dhcp client (sometimes required to conduct more than once).  The service has not stopped, but for some reason, it becomes it running.

I also tried to disable the 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power ".  But that did not help.

Have spent a long period of problems, have almost tried everything and am at the point where I am considering the purchase of a new laptop computer.

  • ProBook 4520 s - HP Recovery Manager?

    Hi-

I have a new Probook 4520 s, product #XT989ut, Windows 7 Professional factory-installed.  I got no CD, DVD or any other media.  I want to make a system image backup, I can restore it on a new hard drive full hard drive failure. HP Recovery Manager is not on my laptop and I can't find a version for my laptop on HP's web site.

What is the HP solution for a total failure of the hard drive on this laptop?  Is there a version of HP Recovery Manager?  If I need to use Microsoft Backup, then I need a Windows 7 installation disc, then how can I get this drive?

    Thank you

    Hello:

I would order a set of recovery disc for your laptop. I don't think that any professional laptops come with a restore CD game more. My new 6930p did not come with a game, so I ordered a set for $10.00. Mine came with Vista Business 32-bit. I was disappointed that the restore for the 6930p disc contained only a 32 bit OS disc.

What good is being able to install 8 GB of memory in this machine, when you only have a 32 bit OS?

Oh, well... I have a restore disc Vista Business 64-bit I can use of a 6910p.

Anyway, if you live in the United States or the Canada, here's how to get a set of restore for your PC disks:

    1. Enter the reference number and the serial no on the underside of the computer on the white label. The model # is one 4520 s HP-Compaq, but the part number is on this tag below the serial number.

    2. call HP at 1-800-952-7689, option 1 (ranking in the list in the option made restore disks).

    3. provide the information asked by the representative who answers the phone. Some simply ask the serial number, some want at the same time, or they'll want just the serial number and the type of computer (4520 s). I hope that your restore disks set W7 will ship with two disk OS 32 and 64-bit as one made for my 6910p.

    4. do you have a Master Card or Visa ready for purchase. They do not take discover. I believe that you will be charged $10.00.

You will receive the discs by first class mail, or you can pay an additional $10.00 for shipping FedEx.

  • HP ProBook 450 G: drive recovery on external hard drive

    Hello!

    I had a few questions.

I have a HP ProBook G2 450 with Windows 8.1 now, I wanted to create a disk recovery, but on an external hard drive. Is it so that it is not possible to put it on an external hard drive? When I try to make a recovery it says I should use one with at least 16 GB USB Flash drive. So this means that I could not even do a DVD recovery disc?

And I would also know, if I put teaching 10 Windows (as our University offers), is possible later use the 8.1 Windows recovery disc to return to 8.1?

    Eager to help!

    Marta

    Hello

Please use a few DVDs or good USB. The USB will be write-protected therfore no point to use the external HARD drive because you will not be able to use your external HARD drive, only read. Normally, you have 2 options: use of DVD or USB.

Yes, you can use recovery media to go back to your orginal Windows 8.1.

Note: you can create recovery media once.

    Kind regards.

    Hello:

If the F11 calls don't work, then your only option would be to buy a set of recovery disc HP for your laptop.

You can get them by calling 1-800-334-5144, if you live in the USA/Canada.

Have the serial number of the laptop handy to give to the customer service rep.

There will be a nominal for the discs, if your laptop is out of warranty - the last time that I had to pay about a year ago, they were sent by first class $ 10.

    Hello:

You need these drivers for devices...

The media JMicron card reader driver allows the card slot multimedia integrated in the laptop models running a supported operating system.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp60501-61000/sp60769.exe

This package contains the driver that allows the validity fingerprint sensor in the notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The fingerprint sensor analyzes fingerprints for use with biometric security applications.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66501-67000/sp66915.exe

This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard to the notebook models and operating systems. HP 3D DriveGuard receives notifications of the built-in accelerometer and protects the hard drive (HDD) by automatically "the heads of parking" to reduce the risk of damage if the laptop is accidentally moved or deleted.

  • How to know before buying so upgrading RAM is self-serviceable on HP ProBook 4330 s LW824EA

    Hello

I would buy a ProBook s 4330 in Hungary. However I can't find any information on the exact warranty terms. I want to know before you buy wheter the upgrade of RAM at home empty the product warranty or not.

I asked the dealer too, but they couldn't help: they told me that it depends on the sticker of guaranteed zero (of course...) but they do not know whether it is on or not. The HP documentation did not help or the other, the service guide said that it may or may not be a guaranteed zero protection sticker.

Thanks for any help and best regards,

    Ambrus Simon

    Hello:

Installation of memory do not void the warranty unless you damage the PC all by (break the memory slot, breaking a plastic cover, etc.).

The memory that you install is not covered by the HP warranty, but the rest of the laptop will be.

A general rule is that anything with a Philips head screw customer is accessible and does not void the warranty.

Anything with a screw Torx is not supposed to be consulted by the client and may void the warranty.
