Hello

I have hp Pavilion dv6 2138ca laptop and windows 7 home premium (64 bit) family.

When I try to adjust the settings, it says

box empty the trash

check box clear firefox temporary internet files

check box clear internet explore ' s temporary internet files.

am I supposed to put check boxes above?

My question is - it safe to do this with the temporary folder? b/c it's 19 GB in size

kindly tell me about the links from which I can understand these functions "s details.

Thank you

    Brian, welcome to the forum.

I can't give you a good explanation for the problems you are having.  It is probably a bug in the software.  I had very similar problems when using Windows Update.  Do not install the updates without apparent reason.

Here is the Official Site for HPSA.  I have suggrest by downloading and installing the latest version.  You must uninstall the current version before you start.  I'd be happy to hear the result.

  • Problem HP Support Assistant...

Hello! I use a HP Pavilion notebook g4-1024tx. Each month, HP Support Assistant from my computer will tune to my computer. But I always see, because I need to use the computer for homework. Then, day after day, notch by notch, I found that my computer was getting slower and slower. I don't know why. I thought that I used CCleaner Disk Defragmenter and disk cleanup to clean the drive from my computer, what will make my computer go faster. But instead of going faster, it went even slower. This few days, then I discovered that maybe HP Support Assistant Tune Up will help you do. Yesterday morning I started the Tune Up, by pressing the last Tune had been delayed Up (10/01/2012). This Tune Up kept field of Disk Defragmenter Microsoft Windows treatment. Also, this Tune Up was working very slow, as slow as a turtle, it started yesterday and have not yet finished until today. As a result, I try to get help in the Forum of Support HP so I cancelled the Tune Up. Please tell me why. Thank you!

Enter the BIOS by typing/holding the F10 key immediately after switching on the laptop. Use Diagnostics to test your hard drive.

  • H9-1245eo: update of inauthentic HP support assistant?

There are about two hours that I was just browsing by chance youtube, one flashed black control top box to the left of my screen. Quickly, I open my task manager and saw that my cpu was used by an unknown program. The program isn't there anymore so I don't remember exactly what his name was, but I vaguely remember having the word "windows" in it, but also a form of the word "restoration" or maybe another word that was similar to it. Everything went pretty fast.

I happened to have my office to the top at the moment, and coincidentally, I noticed that right now my office was being changed somehow. At this point, I have a dialog box in the lower right corner of my screen of the hp support assistant telling me to restart the computer and asking me if I want to do it now or if I want to do later. Assistant support on my tray icon had now changed color to a light shade of blue. As I looked closely at my desktop icons, I noticed that the icon hp support assistant had changed to a light shade of blue there as well. By clicking on one of the icons some results in the dialog box opening upward again. Looks like HP support assistant had installed an update on my computer without prior guest or indication he did so beforehand. Is this normal? Is - this as well updates from HP support assistant are supposed to work? Nothing like that's never happened before.

I got a little worried, so I scanned my computer with malwarebytes and Eset nod32 antivirus, but none of them gave no results. I'm just being paranoid here, or is there something dubious going? For more information, HP support assistant is listed as having been installed today when looking at more in the sections "Add/Remove Programs", echoing 69.7 MB. I also noticed that there is a restore point created at the time of installation which confirms that the restore point would the following program: "HP support assistant 8.1.40.3.

Here is a picture of new icons, as well as the dialog box that appears when you click on it (it's in Swedish):

    @GreenMario3000

It seems that your HP Support Assistant updated itself the previous 6.x / 7.x version to the newer format HPSA 8.x

With this new configuration of the HPSA program, you earn a few troubleshooting information - and you lose the ease of development in the older HP Support Assistant that so many people have used over the years.

    Why the tune-up's?

No idea - HP does not consult with me on politics internal.  The smile.

When I open HP Support Assistant (in response to the message) it loads OK and when I press NEXT on the Welcome screen I get the homepage with a choice of 8 plates to the choice. Tile "updates and the updates" indicates that it is 'Important Update available' and when I click on the tile that will display the page 'updates & tune-up' with a total of 5 important updates selected for download.  However, that's all - none of the other links on this page responds to a click of the mouse and the button "Download & install" appears to be grey and has no reaction when clicked.

Lets start with you help us by identifying your laptop completely.

HP has made and sold more than a thousand different models of laptops and desktops over the years. It is difficult to help you if we don't know which specific model you own...

Method #1: If the laptop boots into Windows, you can retrieve your product number by pressing Fn + ESC key.

    Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a Service number with the printed part number and product name. Thanks for posting the p/n (with all alphanumeric characters) here. If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase.  Also post the CPU type and prepare operating system installed. (AMD or Intel). P/n in the following image is the number of the product.

Your description of the issue would seem to indicate that an uninstall of the HP Support Assistant and the installation of the latest version would be a good starting point.

  • Need help with the Support Assistant for TouchSmart 310

I tried to install the latest version of HP Support Assistant manually by searching on the HP customer service and it removed the previous version first. Nothing happened thereafter. I thought it would open HP Support Assistant after agreeing to terms and policies, but he did nothing. When I click on the HP Support Assistant icon, I get "year error occurred" on the very top of the page.  I am not in a position to make changes within the program - everything is gray.

I tried unistalling tune but I get a message stating: Error 1316 - a network error has occurred trying to read from the file c:\windows\installer\hp support assistant.msi. I tried to look for this file and have not found. I even typed in the search and was not able to find it so I am not able to uninstall it.

I've had this computer for a year now and have never been able to upgrade to the latest version of HP Support Assistant within the program. I'd get what your computer does not meet the minimum requirements and so I left it alone. The reason why I decided to manually update was because I have problems with the E: drive. And from what I read on HP, to see if I have a hard drive failed, I would need to run tests using HP Support Assistant, but unfortunately, I am not able to do this since I can't access HP Support Assistant.

    I have HP TouchSmart 310-1125f. Windows 7 64-bit.

    Hello

It is good to hear than the detected "Fixit" and was able to remove the existing installation of HPSA such as what can many fixed some of the problems that can prevent a new version installation correctly.

First, even if you always have the latest installer HPSA, download it again from the following link and save it in your downloads folder.

    HP Support Assistant.

One when you're done, open your download folder, click with the right button on the Setup, select Extract 7 - zip, select the files and then click Ok.  Open the new folder sp58919 snippet and see you another installer called Setup - this right click and select new, 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the new installation folder, the installation application ( 4th down with a size of 249KO ) right-click and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.

    Hello Malygris1,

With the HP Support Assistant, I didn't that my PC was still under warranty.  I find this contacted HP support by chat live last night, and they were able to solve the problem.

The fix was using the HP Recovery Utility to access my recovery partition and re - install the version of HP Support Assistant provided with my PC.  Then we could successfully uninstall the old version and install the latest version of HPSA.

  • Pavilion 15-e092ea: does not not after installing updates from HP HP Support Assistant

I was warned of three updates two days before and went to install them before moving on to Windows 10.

I was warned that several reboots may be required.

Several reboots produced, but now, I find that whenever I try to launch tune it just tells me that a restart is required. This must happen at least 10 times.

I can't get further and assume that the software has stopped working properly.

Thanks, your solution was my instinct, but I just wanted to check if there was an another known issue with the latest updates.

I uninstalled the support assistant as suggested and downloaded the latest version.

    Everything works fine.

  • HP Support Assistant works not properly?

I used HP Support Assistant again. I got to the top of my pc and everything what every time she appeared. Suddenly, I click on it and it says ' tune-up next: unknown "," last update: never ', when I clearly did it before. So I try tuning it upward. Usually, there is a spinning ball thing, but this time there is nothing and he's just sitting there. I thought that if I uninstall and reinstall but when I go in uninstall a program, I do not see HP Support Assistant. (I don't know if it's called something else.)
I'm not exactly a computer expert, so I am lost and so afraid that something crazy could happen, as HP Support Assistant is hit by a virus or something. I tried to open these tips on the view page, but he asks me what file I want to use to open it and I have no idea what to do. Please help me.

    Hello

As the original installation looked he had corrupted in some way, it can not be uninstalled completely, which may explain the problem that you now when you try to run an analysis of the health.

Assuming that this is the case, I suggest to go through the procedure of uninstallation and reinstallation HPSA (as shown again below) now that the uninstall routine seems to have recorded properly with Windows this time.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by opening windows control panel, open programs and features, make the entry for HP Support Assistant right click and select uninstall.  Once this process is complete, restart the PC.

Then download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant of the page on the link below - the download links are to the bottom of the page.
