  I've referenced the manual of your printer. Possibility of manual 2-sided printing is not available with in the printer preferences.  (Where you go into the control panel and set the preferences for the printer from there) But the application your impression of like MS Word for example, you can go to file>print> look under settings and see if there is the option "Manually print on both sides" .   You do one of 2 things @Chelle007, you can reset the printer back to the factory settings and set up again, or you can connect the printer to the computer or router Ethernet cable and use the wired IP address to access the Web integrated (Embedded Web Server) server. Enter the IP address in a Web browser, and when the printer page opens, you can go to settings. You will be able to reactivate it.   There should be an option in layout to "Flip on long edge" or "return on the short edge.  Change this setting to change the orientation of the back page.

  If this does not resolve the problem that, please indicate what operting system you have and the number of exact model.

  I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8.1 software and unfortunately can not print any document double face of any program.  While I can easily print the documents double-sided on other computers running earlier versions of windows, it doesn't seem to be any option to do it at all on my laptop.

  I see that this problem has been resolved with the older versions of windows, but solutions are not easy to follow in windows 8.1. Here are my stats from the printer and thanks a lot for your help!

  I understand that you have a problem with duplexing in Windows 8.1. I'll try my best to help you solve this problem.

  Because the printer print double-sided on the lower version of Windows, it may be the software and drivers installed on the Windows 8.1.  I suggest to uninstall the printer software , then using the printer HP install wizard for Windows to install. This tool will search for the right software and drivers to install for your printer.

  Once you have reinstalled here is a document for printing on both sides of the paper (duplex printing) with adjustment steps upwards and double-sided printing.

• HP Officejet Pro 8600 - the back of sheet 1 is empty on a PDF printed double-sided.

  When printing double-sided pdfs of three pages or more, the following happens - first page prints on the front of the first sheet of paper, on the back of the sheet is empty. The second sheet has pages 2 and 3 and so on. When I print the same document on a laser printer - it prints well (first leaf has pages 1 and 2, etc.). When I print the exact same documents for Adobe Reader on my machine Windows 8, it prints very well. This happens with Adobe Acrobat or Adobe reader. Print the Word version of the documents works as advertised. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers of HP printer, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Acrobat Reader. Occurs with several documents from multiple sources.

  Maybe you can try this:

  1. make sure you have installed the driver software for your printer

  2 open Terminal--> / Application/Others/Terminal

  3. Type "cupsctl WebInterface = yes" and then press enter

  4. launch the browser web and learned to "631".

  5 click ' tab 'Administration '.

  6. click on the button "Manage printers" under printers

  7. Select your printer (no fax)

  8. click on the 'Administration' dropdown and select "define the default Options.

  9. click on "double-sided printing.

  I use HP Officejet Pro on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 8620. It seems that 2 sides print has stopped working for some applications. It was working fine before. I tried to print from a Web site and selected 'double-sided' but impressions are released in the form of separate pages. I tried for a PDF with the same thing happens.   Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

  I understand that you have some problems with the printing of your Mac OS x 10.10 machine to your Officejet Pro 8620 e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.

  To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. If your printer is connected to your Mac via a USB cable, remove it.
  2. Click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
  3. Hold down the CTRL key and click the icon of your printer on the left.
  4. Click on reset printing system.
  5. Open Applications, utility and disk utility.
  6. Click "Macintosh HD" on the left.
  7. Click on verify disk permissions. This should take about 10 minutes.
  8. Click on repair disk permissions. This should take about 10 minutes.
  9. Restart your Mac.

  Now, if you removed the USB cable, plug it. Otherwise:

  1. Click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
  2. Click on the button "+" at the bottom left.
  3. Select your printer from the list.
  4. Click the check box next to and select your printer from the list.
  5. Click on Add.

  I recently got a macbook pro with OS X 10.11... I have a printer D4160 Office jet that I used before on another laptop. Ive hooked up to the macbook and installed/downloaded the driver, the current driver is HP inkjet driver 4.0.5

  Printer works fine, but does not give me the ability to print double sided, or the ability to print odd/even pages.  I contacted apple support and they could not understand it either... is there another driver I need to download? Or something else I should do?

  Options to print odd and even pages are under [paper handling], a Menu that is hidden under the area [].  Pages to print instead of "Automatic", choose even pages, and if the printer is facing towards the low delivery, you will probably want to "Swap" as well. Then, return the battery to the output tray into the tray facing the proper direction and print the odd pages uniformly.

  Automatic duplex printing requires the physical printer back on the pages and the re - feed. It is not a feature of consumers were willing to pay, so low-end inkjet didn't do it.

  Manual duplex printing from a Mac running is different from how it works on Windows PC.

  Please follow the steps below to perform the required task.

  An option to perform manual duplex printing is to use the Pages to the printer setting, you can find below:

  Thus, another alternative is to use the HP two-sided printing software:

  You can access this tool by clicking the PDF button at the bottom of the print dialog box, and then select double-sided printing and follow the on-screen instructions.
