I have a trial key window xp home edition on the bottom of my laptop that I have not used. What is this for?

I bought my new laptop in 2006, yes I know this is old, and never noticed that on the bottom was a trial for windows xp home edition key.  What is this for? How to use it?

That's when you need to reinstall Windows and when the manufacturer installs Windows XP on your system.

I want to change my primary portable hard drive HARD to the SDS drive, my question is can I download the corresponding edition of Windows 7 from MSDN and re - install in my new hard driver then reactivate the license key to use the COA on the bottom of my laptop? • HP mini 110-1129nr with windows xp home edition, following the file is missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\system model doesn't have a cd/dvd drive. Help, please!

HP mini 110-1129nr with windows xp home edition, on said boot computer could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\system computer has no cd/dvd drive. Computer does not load in safe mode, I ran disk hard main test self test it says completion test: failure, check the status: 7 (filled with the read element of the test failed). Help.

You need an external DVD drive to get the repair will.

Also the device you own does not seem to have built in the recovery partition. I'm not sure about later versions of this machine, however, it is best to check with HP.

The problem is that there is a corruption of the registry on your OS or the system could not find where the registry files are due to system files or boot corrupted file.

A repair can be made with an external DVD, the worst case, is that if the repair doesn't work you reinstall Windows.

    How to activate Windows XP

  • Unable to activate Windows XP Home Edition after the repair facility.

Of that, I was running a Dell Dimension 5000 bought from the Dell website in 2005. After this computer from run very slowly, I decided on an upgrade. So I removed the hard drive of this computer with XP Home Installation and everything what it intact and plugged the hard drive into a completely new computer (that I bought and customized piece by piece). I also installed Windows XP Pro using the ability of XP to run dualboot. Now the Pro works well, but has of course none of the programs of the host OS installed as even if Pro and Home are installed on the same drive C, Pro of course did not the registry of home settings. That's fine, but when I chose the House to the splash screen immediately after my computer upward once again, I have encountered an error saying that Windows has shut down the computer to prevent damage etc. by a blue screen of death. So I fixed installed House, by inserting the Home CD in the CD drive (which is also new and I bought, not even the one from my old computer to 2005), choice of APPETIZER and not the repair console and then clicking R to repair the detected existing OS. I fixed installed and I was thrilled when the problem has been resolved. When I chose the House and after having set up, I was greeted by the familiar screen with users that I had set up on my PC of 2005. When I clicked the user admin, typed the password, he accepted the password and then a box came up saying I had to activate Windows before I could open a session. By clicking on the number resulted in the user disconnects automatically before the start menu or desktop appeared. Clicking Yes led me to a screen that gives me the choice to choose between online and phone activation. As my entire computer (except for the hard drive) is new, the internet network adapter is also new, and that's why the internet settings (the 2005 model old) which I had not yet changed on the Pro Installation do not allow me to activate via the net. I tried via telephone following all the instructions and punch in the 25 digit code generated by the wizard in the phone and told me that the operator could not generate a code (for me 2 type in the boxes provided and therefore use to activate XP Home). I then shut down the PC, went to the installation of Pro, changed the IP settings according to the instructions given to me by the ISP to the phone and checked the net now works on installation of Pro IE. It worked, and I now turned off, chose the House and tried to activate on the net and there is not yet well make sure that my computer is connected to the net. I even clicked on the phone option and changed my ID by typing my OEM 25 product key numbers and clicking Refresh. I tried again by phone and still could not activate my installation in a House. The installation CD home I used was the 2 me by my Builder (a purple disk saying OPERATING SYSTEM: ALREADY INSTALLED on YOUR COMPUTER). This CD certainly isn't a forgery because I ordered directly from DELL and not even the 2005 Bill to prove it. Is it because I changed my system components and not my hard drive with it, which is the origin of this problem? How can I fix this without backup everything and remove the installation of the House and then re - install?

"ArjunC" wrote in message News: 3df4138b-2174-4cb1-821e-0527dc60da2c...

In fact the Windows XP Pro has been installed by the people who moved the hard drive to the new computer. I never asked for it. But remove XP Pro still wouldn't solve my problem. I need to find a way to use my original of 25 characters product key or get a key of success generated by phone so that I can log on to Windows XP Home Edition and continue to use my PC as how I used my old. Some people have told me that I can convince to install MS by phone that I transferred the disk hard - 2 a new computer and then tried a repair but the problem is that all the numbers given on Activation Wizard phone are automated, giving instructions, asking the ID generated by the wizard and then telling me that they are unable to generate an ID for activation. If there is human here, how do you convince a machine of my innocence :)

You need to reinstall using an XP Home OEM disk - see if one of your friends has one you can borrow. The key on your COA sticker will be valid for this.
You can also contact Dell and ask them to provide a set of disks in your machine - for a price.

  • Installation of Windows XP Home edition on the new Satellite Pro L550

    Hello

I have a new satellite Pro L550 and need to downgrade to XP. If I want to go back to Windows 7 that I can in the future?

    Thank you, Lisa

    Hello Lista

In my opinion you should look forward and begin using the new Windows7 operating system. It is really good OS, well done and runs with good performance on Toshiba laptops.
Please note that you have most recent laptop with newer hardware model designed for standards of Win7.
Yes, you can install Win7 when you want.

Win7 is fully supported and you won't have any problems with it.
To return to Windows XP edition family has no much sense to me, except to use some old software designed for Windows XP Home edition only.

Anyway, what model of laptop you have exactly (L550-xxx)?

  • Addition of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP Home Edition creates the system failure

We have an older Compaq Presario that came with Windows XP Home Edition. [a Pentium 1 2005]
I try to install Windows Live Onecare (free Qwest).  When I update our Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3, when I reboot I get a black screen that says that there is an error with a recent change of hardware or drivers. So I boot safe mode.
There has been no hardware changes.
I did a destructive restore by using the Compaq recovery disk which is supposed to wipe the drive and reinstall everything.
I can update Windows XP with service pack 3 and everything works.  When I install Windows Live Onecare, at the next restart I get the same black screen and need to start in safe mode.
I can do a destructive restore and load Windows Live Onecare and work without any problem as long as I do not install Service Pack 3.
I tried to make recovery of Windows with the same results.  I can do a restore before any point where I do not have the Windows Live Onecare and the Service Pack 3 and everything works fine.

So I guess that there is a conflict between Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Live Onecare on this computer.  I have both works well on other computers in our home network, but they are Pentium III or higher.

Anyone know if there is a difficulty, or just simply never through my XP Home SR3?

    TIA, LR0451

  • Error code of reading on windows xp home edition. The error code is fffffc02. Someone knows how to fix this?

I am trying to reinstall windows xp home edition on my laptop after I dumped everything and I get an error that says: "the signature for windows xp home edition Setup is invalid. The error code is fffffc02.  The system cannot find message for message number 0xfffffc02 text messages for syssetup.dll file. Anyone know how I can fix this or something?

Hello 2009 poster... Welcome to 2011 and I'm sure by now that you have bought a new computer or obtained the answer elsewhere.

This is in short, that I just got this error working on a disk recovery & Dell laptop.

This is probably due to read/write to the CD/DVD drive.  It's very annoying and simply a file library, catalogue missed reading it will mess this!

Error & you can get there... I get closer and closer each time.

I think this guy CD-ROM drive is odd OR even better the quality of the recovery disc might be off too.

Other errors are too 0xfffffc02 | fffffc02 - and read the newspapers it is always a mistake in the reading of a file.

I just got this new while typing, but I was in there last time - 15 minutes so you can see the weird nature of it.

Recently, I had to reinstall the operating system on my computer because I became aware of virus and I couldn't afford to take it to a professional, and I thought I could fix it myself. I decided to go ahead, but I discovered when I booted my computer, it shows the first copy of Windows as well as the new copy, which, in fact, turns out to be better than the original. Now, I would like to know how to remove the first one because it takes a lot of memory space and it for lack of place the proformance with the second copy. If it's too complicated and you think I should take it to someone who knows better than me, then so be it. If it is not too much to ask, I would like to have an answer soon enough. • I reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition on a Dell Optiplex GX260, and now I can not conntect to the internet.

I am going through the help pages, but do not receive a lot of help. I used the window network, set up several times and it doesn't give me a single connection and even will not create a second try. It's 1394 connection. I click Repair and he says: "failed to query TCP/IP connection parameters. Cannot continue. »
I normally work with unix/linux, windows do not know. Carrying high that IE gives me the generic, the page cannot be displayed error. It goes right to that error, does not even attempt verify an active connection.
I have one router with 3 other systems connected and working, so I know that the problem is specific to this host.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you
    Darren

Just as with * nix, if you want a hardware device to communicate with the operating system - you must install the appropriate drivers so that they can talk to each other.

At this point, you are trying to use a firewire connection (1394) to your network. ;-)

What you need to do is quite simple - but will probably require the use of another machine (or another OS already on the machine that runs on Internet) at least for the first downloads (the motherboard chipset and the NIC driver).

If you visit the Dell technical support & downloads from the website for this particular desktop , you will see all the drivers that Dell provides for the system using Windows XP.

Dell offers you download and install the drivers in this order:

    • Chipset
    • Video adapter
    • (NIC) Network Interface Card
    • Audio adapter
    • Modem
    • Wireless network card
    • Touchpad, pointer, pointing button, mouse and keyboards
    • Other devices

In this case, I suggest that download you the chipset driver and network card driver - get first install them in this order with some necessary reboots, then you should be able to configure Internet and get other drivers using the machine itself.

  • is it possible to load Windows XP Home edition on VISTA installed on a laptop?

Hello!.. My son bought a laptop preloaded using widows vista sp2.  We are more familiar with WXP & would like to know if there is a way we can load from an installation disc. at the present time, we receive an error message "NTLDR is missing press c + a + d to restart", but it is not & cannot fix it because we do not have a vista disc.

any help is appreciated... Thank you!   :)

You can order recovery of the computer disks laptop manufacturer or a third party such as Recovery - Disks.com for a small fee.  The problem with installing XP on the laptop, it's that the manufacturer may not have written the device drivers for XP.  You will need to check the Web site.

If the copy of XP is the one that came with another computer, you can not use it on the laptop in all cases.  Copies of OEM Windows are not transferable to another computer.

You don't give enough details on the brand and model of the laptop or the XP "installation disk" to give a more detailed response.
