  • Try to get the laptop connected to my network?

I have a laptop Sony Viao, who still works on windows XP and it will not connect to my wireless router, my vista desktop works perfectly well. The error message I get when I get my reading key of the network, "the network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters. "Any suggestions? I want to just that this laptop connected so it can serve a new purpose.

It seems that your wireless router is configured with the WEP encryption. The WEP key, not the same wireless network (SSID) name, could be written on the router. If this isn't the case, you will need to query the router admin pages to find out what is the WEP key - look for wireless security.

For more assistance, we will need the brand and model of your router.

Alternatively, you can search on the Vista desktop (if it connects wireless) and query the WEP key via the wireless network connection properties, there should be an option to display the characters of wireless WEP key.

  • Wired laptop but unable to connect to the laptop wireless wireless PC can connect cable PC OK

I have a wired network on whiich, I connected a WAP54G access point for my laptop wireless to children. They are never anything other that connect to the internet, so I never noticed this before. Now, I bought my own laptop and that you want to connect from my main computer but the laptop is not visible on the network. I then connected directly on the laptop to the network wired through an ethernet cable, and it was visible from the wired PC as you would expect. Back fi he returned invisible.

Does anyone have ideas, what could cause this behavior?

    Thanks for all your comments

Presumably using your XP or Vista!

You need to change network settings into the laptop to allow remote connections according to the directives of the wired connection.

You will also need to make changes to the false firewall XP/Vista has as well.

FYI: The WAP54G has no way to filter all network traffic, so the question is not to the AP.

  • Domain user on the laptop cannot access network folders

I have a user who has a laptop with Windows 7 Pro.  The laptop is on the field.  A week ago, some of its readers mapped network disappeared from his window of the computer - they have been set up with a logon script.  When I tried remap readers, I got an error that the readers were already mapped with other identification information.

I tried to use wired and wireless and disabling NetBIOS.  I tried to sign up with my own account, and after that my profile has been created I was able to access network drives without any problems, that tells me that this isn't a hardware problem.

I took a look in C:\Users and found 2 records for his profile, one named [username], another named [username]. [domain].  The [user name]. There is a padlock icon that tells me that it is the account currently being logged record [field].  However, records (e.g. office) are all empty, so it is somehow redirecting to the files under the profile of [username].  I backed up and deleted the registry key for its profile and restarted the computer, but this only created a NEW temporary folder called [username]. [domain]. 000.

Short to save all files in [user_name] and suppression of all profiles or do a clean install of Windows is there anything else I can try?

When I tried remap readers, I got an error that the readers were already mapped with other identification information.

    -> The command console

    net use

I backed up and deleted the registry key for its profile and restarted the computer, but this only created a NEW temporary folder called [username]. [domain]. 000.

->, You can force Windows to use a given profile folder manually by setting the name of the folder here:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S...\ProfileImagePath

Search for the incorrect path name (. domain.000 [username]), and then change the path.

This problem can occur if the network discovery is not enabled, incompatible drivers, incorrect settings of the printer, lack of updates, or due to a problem with the printer.

  • HP Officejet Pro cannot install on the laptop wireless

Try installing a new HP8600 ProPlus.  I configured the wireless to the printer, and it is connected to my wireless network, has an IP address and an intense sound signal.  When I try to add this printer to my laptop (I tried now many laptops), it can not find.

I uninstalled the driver software and downloaded from the HP website - reinstalled, etc..  I rolled power the printer itself.

I see a lot of posts on this problem, but you see not all the good answers.

I worked today with HP technical support.  We ended up having to change the channel on my router 1 to 11.  Once we did that, I was able to connect to the printer.  Once this is done, I was also able to connect from my iPohone via AirPrint.

Can need help, someone tell me the solution for my problem on the Pavilion Slimline s5503w wireless network adapter?

It has an operating system of windows 7, works in 64-bit, 3 GB of RAM, proc AMD140 to 2700 mhz. Have you tried three different suppliers of network adapters wireless Rosewill RNX-N180PCe pci Express 1, TP-Link TL WN781ND pci express 1

and now finally, Netgear WG111v3. I just want to get the wireless desktop. I have a wireless G of Linksys WRT54G Router, D-Link print server currently works wireless. I have Zone Alarm Firewall and Avira AntiVir Personal Antivirus.

Yes, windows update is turned on and it's all good. The problem is once the driver software is loaded, then the hardware is installed. Windows never displays the wireless network adapter on any able to pick up a wireless transmitters. The error I get is: an unexpected error has occurred.   Seek to deepen, I read that he was saying that Windows could not set the IP address.

This would indicate that my software driver wireless network adapter did not work. Yes, I have installed internet access and it indicated on the Internet site, that the cd was the most recent driver so no additional download was necessary, use the cd to install the driver. In addition, went to the Windows 7 compatibility page and the netgear WG 111v3 that my current card is authorized for 64 bit. So, where should I go from here? Oh, yes the s5503w recognizes the hardware in the device mgr. He sees the driver software, it's like something is blocking the final stages of obtaining information IP/MAC of the wireless network adapter.

    Hello:

I would say that there is a problem with the 3rd party firewall.

I had the same network Netgear USB v2 card no less, and it works well with my setup of W7 64 bit on my HP PC.

I recommend you uninstall or disable the ZoneAlarm firewall.

W7 features of a firewall, your router WRT54G has a hardware firewall. I had one of those too, but moved to the E2000. I assume that your wireless network is secured in some way.  I think that this is your problem.

Did you know that you can get a free antivirus/antispyware software from Microsoft that works just great?

    Here is the link:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/PC-security/MSE.aspx

I think that it would cause less problems with my installation of other free software system. I have yet to be disappointed.
