Icon on the desktop problem
I'm trying to lock the desktop icons. I am running windows 7. I right click and continued to check and uncheck everything available. Nothing seems to work. Tried to play with the registry as suggested by many forums and which also failed. As soon as I right click Refresh it now is to annoy the * out of me. -Is this something that can actually be fixed? I literally spent almost 3 hours of work and the search for solutions. Please help if possible! Thank you

I recently noticed some icons on the desktop, shaking for a moment from time to time, which does not seem to be connected to everything I do. I noticed mostly with the icons for a few programs I downloaded recently (Switch Sound File Converter, WavePad Sound Editor and RecordPad sound recorder), even if I used these programs in the past without problem and did not notice anything unusual to suggest a virus. Does anyone know what this means? Thank you!
Hello
Step 1:
You can try to start in safe mode and check if the problem persists. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started. If a problem doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic as possible cause device drivers. To start in safe mode follow the link.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Step 2:
If the problem does not occur in safe mode then boot to the desktop in normal mode and check that the third-party program is causing the problem. To configure your computer to clean boot follow the link below.

Cannot add icon on the desktop
I just installed a program call CCCleaning using Download.com. After you install the software to clarify on any virus that I might have, I rebooted my computer. Once started all my icon on my desk right away. When I try to right click on my mouse, nothing appears. So what I did I pres Ctrl + Alt + Delete, the the window Task Manager appears. When I select the new task, I can pick a certain program it will open. BUT when I try to drag an icon on the desktop, it won't let me. Looks like they disable me to run any shortcut on the desktop. I can open all programs unless I open the Task Manager window and select new task.
So, I would like to know what I did wrong? Can someone solve this for me?
Thank you!

original title: malfunction of the sleep...
When I bring my computer off "sleep mode", I don't see any icons on the desktop, that my background image. I can't get back them, and the only thing to do is to give my computer a re-starting difficult. I just bought this computer last year and fear that this hard-restart is damage. What the hell is happening? What is the point of having the "sleep mode" if it limits my activity once I re - enable the computer?
Kill process > explorer.exe from the Task Manager.
Copy a copy of explorer.exe from a stable machine fresh and clean.
Paste in: C:\WINDOWS\
Replace existing explorer.exe.
Problem should be solved.
If this is not the case, change the registry should be applied.
No registry attached office file.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

OK, it is not important, but the names of my shortcut icons on the desktop, suddenly changed - now I have white writing on a gray background. How to change?
You can use system restore to roll back the machine back to a point just before that the problem started.
(Thanks to Alan Edwards for what follows, a search for "icons transparent alan edwards" will always find quickly and easily the solution).
Four things are needed for the transparent icon backgrounds:
1. Control Panel-System-Advanced-Performance settings.
Check "Shadows fall to use the desktop icon labels" on the display
Effects tab.2 - Click on Desktop - "arrange icons by" and ensure the lock Web
items is disabled.3. transparency will not work if you have the web content on your desktop.
Control panel - display properties Desktop tab - customize the Office-
Web tab, clear all the check boxes.4. ensure that the wallpaper is an image file no HTML.

How can I change the appearance of the police to identify the icons on the desktop?
I added a file of the photo (jpg) on the desktop of my images, and when I returned the text under the icons on the desktop now has a black box around it. They still work, but I want the ordinary police white with black back shadow!
Hello
Please continue with the following steps to support...
I'm sure that you run on color 32 bits, so change to 16 bit and apply (the black boxes should be gone). Restart your computer and then change back to 32-bit. You must restart, otherwise if change you it to 32 bits, the boxes will come back.
-Restoration of the system before the encounter this problem
-Create an alternate user account and check if the problem occurs in this account
-Safe Mode
SFC/scannow
I hope that this information is beneficial.
Thank you

The icons on my desktop got a huge while I was working. I tried to change the resolution of the screen, but it has no effect. The police is of normal size, but the icons are huge. How to make their return to normal?
Method One
1 / right-click on a vacant part of the Office .
2 / in the drop-down menu , click the view option.
3 / in the context menu , click one of the following options:
- Large icons.
- Medium-sized icons.
- Classic icons.
The classic icons option will reduce the size the most.
Second method
If you really want to control the size of the icons on the desktop, then here is a tweak that is really simple to do exactly that.
1 / make sure that the Office is at the point. In other words, click the office button to bring the Office to forward (assuming that you have other programs open).
2 / place your mouse on a free part of the desktop, and then hold down the CTRL (control) key.
3 / press CTRL and hold, and then, with your mouse scroll button, scroll the mouse towards the wheel upwards or downwards to increase or decrease the size of the icons.
4 / once the icons are the size you want, release the CTRL key.
5 / your desktop icons should now appear in a more appropriate size.

small images in the icon on the desktop
Sometimes when I create a shortcut on my desktop shows a white square with upper right corner folded down, but the real image of the shortcut is very low. For example: my icon for g-mail is a small envelope framed in red and my bing is a small orange square with a white b in it, but neither one is a full icon. They are inside the white square.
The size of the area corresponding to the icon on the desktop is fine. A small image is sometimes found inside the white square. The icon is 1/2 inch to 1/2 in., but the real picture is nch 1/4 by 1/4 of an inch.
Is there a solution to this problem or am I stuck with an another inconvenience of Vista?
