IDRAC 6 - reboot
Hello
I have Dell R610 run ESXi 5.0 with 11VMs.
I tried to get the IDRAC GUi of web information in the tab 'inventory of the system', but it goes on to say: hardware inventory is not available. Try again at a later date.
I want to restart the IDRAC and I want to know if restarting is possible without having to restart the ESX host and assign the virtual machine running on the host.
My IDRAC is to version 1.99.
In other news, I have another server, it is R710 and running the same version 1.99 Idrac, and from there, I can get the information from memory perfectly without any problems.
Thank you in advance

Nicolas
Yes it is possible, you can restart the iDRAC, through the iDRAC GUI or, for example, with the racadm racreset.
This restart iDRAC and let the operating system.

IDrac access attached server monitor/keyboard without having to reboot
Hello
I have connected a keyboard and a screen to a R730xd server and would like to access iDrac. However, I see the login prompt of the OS installed.
I have found no way to switch to the iDrac without rebooting. I'm sure it must be possible somehow?
Best regards
Brian
You can share the details of the server and the Linux operating system that is installed on the server? One way to access host OS iDRAC is by installing racadm software. After that, you can run racadm commands and configure iDRAC.
See below for more details on racadm

I have a r.620. Anyone know the keys that must be pressed on startup to enter the config of the iDRAC? I do not see it come on reboot.
Hello
When the system boots, press F2 and type the parameters of the system. When inside the Control Panel, access the iDRAC parameters. Here, you can configure your iDRAC.

R610 back after reboot fan noise
Hi everyone, please help... I don't know what to do anymore.
Since I bought a few R610 units I tried to make the server less noiser and 2 weeks ago, I though that I nailed... but no.
I managed to update the firmware to idrac Server version 1.96, just after I updated the firmware fans resigned from 8000 RPM to 4500 rpm, and that's exactly what I needed.
Today, I needed to reboot the machine and guess what... When I rebooted the server fans returned to 8000 RPM.
Please, does anyone know what happened? I have no idea, google is not my friend this time.
xgonzaloBut the good news is that restarting the idrac nailed! When the server is restarted the iDRAC/BMC loses communication with the BIOS OF THE system until it has completed POST. During this time, it will run all the fans the most. Looks like the iDRAC/BMC is not restore this connection in the system BIOS correctly until it is restarted.
If there is no USB device connected to the server, then unplug it and test again. If the problem still persists, then remove all the maps add-on and test again. If the problem persists then the iDRAC express and possibly on the system board must be replaced. The most likely cause of the problem in my view is cache on iDRAC express. If you have the same model available server to swap parts then you can exchange the iDRAC express to test.
Thank you

Manage/create/change RAID running VMware host without rebooting.
Hello
I want to know if it is possible to manage the (changing) configuration of Dell RAID controller on the host running VMware.
For example if I add a few discs for DAS shelves storage connected to the H800 controller, I need to set up the RAID on these new disks and add the new data store in vCenter without rebooting the machine.
Is this possible?
My config:
Dell PowerEdge R710 server with iDRAC 6 Enterprise
Storage controller internal Dell PERC H700
External storage Dell PERC H800 controller with two tablets of disc DAS
VMware 5.5 booting from SD card
vCenter 5.5 with Dell OpenManage integration Plugin 2Thanks to the open tab Integratilon manage in vCenter, I see both controllers and all discs but cannot perform any operation.
I checked and OMIWV can monitor. You can use Openmanage Server Administrator to create new arrays from a distance. If the installation requires a reboot. http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=YCYN1&FILEID=3365343039&osCode=XI55&ProductCode=PowerEdge-T320&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=SM
Page 37 http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/dell-opnmang-srvr-admin-v7.4_Deployment%20Guide_en-us.pdf
Alternatively, you can try using the megacli for LSI controllers to create the new Raid array without rebooting. http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/virtualization/w/wiki/7438.storage-management-of-VMware-ESXi-using-megacli

PowerEdge M610 - IDRAC update version 3.65 to 3.75 fails
Hello
I'm updating the IDRAC6 Enterprise of a PowerEdge M610 Server installed in a M1000e blade chassis. In fact, the version installed is of 3.65 and I try to install the recently published 3.75.
I have some problems, I tried a few different ways:
-With "System update utility" R2 2012 Windows
-L' execute the package "" ESM_Firmware_GR09H_WN32_3.75_A00. "» EXE' of Windows R2 2012
-Chassis using the payload "firmimg.imc" extract the package management "" ESM_Firmware_GR09H_WN32_3.75_A00. "» EXE ".
-With the help of racadm and download the payload of the TFTP
It says update succeeded each time, but the version of the IDRAC is stil 3.65 Build 6. If the update is not applied correctly. Execution of the package "" ESM_Firmware_GR09H_WN32_3.75_A00. "» EXE' from Windows 2012 at the end of the procedure, I get the message "The update completed with success.", but in the same window, a strange message pops up: "device: iDRAC, Application: iDRAC data file not recognized ' (as you can see in the screenshot attached).
Can someone help me solve this problem. All of the other "Server Update Utility" updates are installed properly.
Thanks in advance,
Davide
Hello Davide
The first update that you tried to apply may be blocked. Once the update is downloaded to the iDRAC, it should initiate a reboot of the iDRAC to apply the update. I would try to restart/reactivate manually iDRAC. You can use racadm racreset or there should be an option in the SAP to restart/reset the iDRAC.
I just updated a M610 of 3.65 to 3.75 to verify that the image on our site work properly. I downloaded the self-extracting file image from:
http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=GR09H
iDRAC6_3.75_A00_FW_IMG.exe
It should be the same file that you extracted from the package Windows install, but you may want to try a just in case where. Simply run the executable file to extract the files.
Thank you

Problems updating Firmware 7 IDRAC
Hi, I had problems with my controller IDRAC PowerEdge T320. It seems to be a known issue, introduced with Firmware version 1.50.50, which is delivered with my machine. Basically, the device signals that all user sessions are used. (RAC0218). I am running Windows 2008 Server R2. To resolve this problem, I find the IDRAC firmware update version for my system. 1.57.57 downloaded the windows EXE file and it ran. The release notes say that a reboot is not necessary. At the end of installation, I got a message in a dialog box. "" Device iDRAC7, Application: iDRAC7 could not access Virtual USB Device "and then the following message in the upgrade of the firmware Installer information window" "" This message can be ignored"with many things on the R2 IPMI driver. My problem is that the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator noted the old firmware version number. I reset the iDRAC from the C: prompt to soft help from "racadm racreset" who have reported success. It made no difference. I emptied my cache of browsers as well. Any ideas how can I know if my firmware has actually been upgraded?
When I googled the error message my own post came first on the list! So I thought that I had better do a update. After finally move to try to solve this problem (again), I opened a case of pension with DELL.
There is now another more recent version if the firmware of the iDRAC. 1.66.65
I downloaded and installed, but it failed with the same error on "Failed device to access virtual USB".
The nice guy of support counted Dell that it is due to an incompatible BIOS version. I currently have 2.0.22 and the latest version is the 2.3.3. Then I spoke for her.
I have successfully installed the BIOS update, requiring a reboot. I then had another go to the update of the firmware to iDRAC to 1.66.65 and this time it worked WHOO HOO!
Now wait us and see if real problems connection problems are solved.
I'm quietly confident.
Hope this helps someone else

iDRAC 6 Enterprise does not display storage
Hello
We have a Dell PowerEdge R710 with iDRAC 6 Enterprise.
When I open the iDRAC web interface, there is no information nor any status of the Perc H310 RAID controller.
I do not see the physical disks, no virtual disk, I've looked everywhere and Miss every reference to storage.
I have used other maps of iDRAC and the RAID controller is always present.
just put iDRAC to update to the latest firmware, already rebooted server.
Any idea?
Claudio Basso
Intercomsolutions,
In fact, you can use OMSA on ESXi, now, you will not be able to properly monitor the computer virtual is with her, but you can control the host. If you follow this link, it will take you to an ad I did previously, which includes a ride on the installation and execution OMSA in ESXi.
Let me know how it goes.

Mail (version 9.3) frequently freezes, requires a reboot.
Mail under El Capitan (10.11.6) freezes frequently. Rebuild my Inbox, sent messages, Junk, etc was not rectified the problem. Seems arbitrary? Anyone else having this problem? All possible solutions to this?
Make a backup, preferably 2 on 2 separate drives.
Exit the Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J. When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail on your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the content.
Reboot, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, recreate the required e-mail settings and import emails you want to save to the folder on the desktop. You can then put the file in the trash. If the problem persists, return the folder where you have guessed replacing one that is there.
If he does not repeat the above using Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent.

installation of Sierra on MacBook - locked system &; computer killed hard reboot
MacBook locked during installation of Sierra. Pressed the power button to a hard reboot and now can not initialize get only a message stating your computer restarted because of a problem of waiting to continue to go, but it keeps looping to the same Message and keeps trying to restart.
I put the installation disc in a attempted to hold the c key during the restart and the same thing happens
The installation disk will not help on a Mac running macOS Sierra.
Start your Mac while pressing the command + R keys.
From there, you should be able to use the built in utility to check, repair and restore the OS X disc using OS X Recovery.

OS El Capitan on Macbook Air is blocked even on reboot
Hello, I have a Macbook Air El Capitan that hung, several open applications and is still clinging even to reboot. The mouse does not work, so I can't even close individual applications to try to identify the culprit. Open applications are email, Firefox, calendar, Messages, Kindle, Bluetooth keyboard configuration (unintentionally open). Someone knows how to fix? Force Quit doesn't shut it down just recharged and breaks down until I can close apps correctly. Thank you!
Hello there DivotGirl,
Looks like you turn on your computer and it responds immediately. I begin by starting in safe mode to delete some system-level caches and perform a disk check and repair if necessary:

You should get it all together. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support, let us know how it goes.

iMac late 2012 edition hangs on reboot after installing Sierra
I installed on my iMac, edition end of 2012 Sierra, and now it crashes when rebooting and turns off (black screen).
It has worked very well since the upgrade to Sierra yesterday, but this morning I rebooted and the iMac stop at Midway through the boot process. I turned on several times, but it keep crashing to half way through the implementation process and turns off the power (Black screen and power total power off).
I reboot in Recovery mode, (key command-R during restart) and am currently OS X via my latest TimeMachine recovery upward. According to the screen, the restoration will take about 2 hours to complete.
If someone has encountered this problem, and if so, will identify you the cause of the problem?
No problem on my Mac Pro 2010 but usually this kind of problem can be traced back to the 3rd install party who tries to run at startup.
If the problem persists try to start in safe mode

Change the desktops sometimes causes reboot
Hello! Since the upgrade to Sierra this morning, I found a pretty annoying bug. Several times I have "swept" my Magic Mouse to turn on my second monitor to desktop computers, my iMac mid-2011 restarts. Nothing seems abnormal in Mission Control, but I don't know where else to look for clues on how to prevent this.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Hi there HippieBoy!
Welcome to the communities of Apple Support and thank you for bringing your question about your Magic Mouse having problems switching to the desktop on your second monitor and restart your iMac. I love being able to use a second monitor and have my iMac spontaneously reboot would get old real fast for me. It's my pleasure to help you today.
If you go to System Preferences > accessibility and then remember to uncheck Reduce motion, which should fix this for you. For more information on the Motion to reduce under macOS Sierra:
