error code "IMPOSSIBLE to INSTALL" of Vista sp2 0x8e5e03fa
I tried to install sp2 once and got the error code "UNABLE to INSTALL" 0x8e5e03fa. I have loaded the "Fixit" program, run the program, and he says that he solved the problems, no problems that I have seen. I tried to reinstall sp2 and got the same results. I installed SP1 and have checked that start/computer/properties. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with a core duo intel CPU T5450 1.66, 1.67. 32-BIT OPERATING SYSTEM. I down loaded the only settlement sp2 version. Now on a side note for the past week, I have not been able to print any pdf files, saved on hard drive, or via a browser, IE8 or Mozilla. If one affect the other?
Suggestions?
montyrt,
Try the points following and post back with the results and the information requested by PA Bear.Boot from your PC and let in a minimum of State boot when you run the following tools.
Then download the SP2 and run your office installation.

Cannot install Windows Vista SP2 due to error code 0 x 80070490
Original title: conclusion it is impossible to install the Vista SP2
Hello. I'm trying to update my parents with Vista SP2 computer, but it's a disaster. It is a 32-bit operating system. First of all, I tried to install it with windows live update but got the error code 0 x 80070490. Then I tried to download it manually from the Windows Download Center, but this has led to the same problem occurs. I then removed all virus protection programs and tried again, but it still doesn't work. I then downloaded the Windows Update Readiness Tool 947821 KB but when I try and install it it freezes for hours constantly and will not install. I think of anything else to do and I was wondering if anyone can help. Thank you
Hi CVinaccia,
Follow the steps described in the article below, dealing with a similar issue
You receive an error code "0 x 80070490" when you use Microsoft Update or Windows Update Web sites to install updates

Windows Update is now always ask to install the Vista SP2, which was installed years ago. When you try to install through Windows Update, it concludes the installation like ok, then once again it shows in Windows Update. When I try via stand-alone, it is said that SP1 is not installed. Of course, it is. In any case tried to reinstall and he wrote is already installed. I'm sure I installed both SPS long ago, but none of them show in the updates installed. It's probably something in the registry. Properties system shows SP1. Ah, I use Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

Error 0x8007045D when you try to install Windows Vista SP2
Hello
Currently I have Windows Vista SP1 and want to upgrade to service pack 2. When I try to do the update of Windows, I get "error (0x8007045d) Error_IO_DEVICE. I also tried to install it in safe mode, I get the same error message. After having traveled a bit on the internet, I found that it is probably because my HDD is damaged... so I run the chkdsk program...
The chkdsk program stops at 16%... Step 4 of 5... When 85785 files off 300000something files are done... and it does nothing more. It keep running like this all night, it goes no further.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to successfully install Windows Vista SP2?
Thanks for your help!
OK, I started the computer with the Windows CD and I ran chkdsk /f at a command prompt.
Chkdsk /f found errors it corrects.
I ran Chkdsk/r... .he got stuck after scanning 85763 files... near the place, he would always get stuck (85785 files)... so I guess it's the same file that crashes chkdsk.
The good news: I still have a functioning computer.
The bad news is that I ran the SP2 from windows update in new safe mode and it didn't work... I'm still stuck with my problem.
I have an extra hard drive... that I ordered from Dell for my girlfriend's computer, his computer died before she could use the player, but it is larger, then the drive of your computer and it is brand new... the only downside is that the player has been implemented for the computer of my girlfriend (pilots and other things) and does not work in my computer. I guess I'll try to format that drive to make it work in my computer... it should fix this and then bad SP2 remedial power very well.
I guess I have no choice.
I suggest to remove avg (uninstall) then try sfc/scannow then chkdsk /f several times. a few times, they need more going to make things more
Microsoft security essentials is a better a v for not update couseing problems.
You can allways put avg in the back.
not having is not enouph to free space for temporary files can couse problems too.

Cannot start Windows after trying to install the Vista SP2
I just tried to install Vista SP2 and now whenever I try to turn on the cpu it gives me a blue screen and restarts. It does allow me to start in SafeMode either. In addition, it seems to be impossible to find my restore points. I was able to stop the screen using the F8 menu and it gives me this error on the blue screen
STOP: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0X81C223BB, 0X803998F4, 0X803995F0)
For some reason, when I go to the cmd prompt to advanced troubleshooting guide, I can do, he says that I am the X and not the C drive, if that has something to do with my restore points does not.
I tried to get the menu of the restoration on C manually through C:\windows\system32\restore\, but nothing was there.
Any help would be appreciated. I will not lose rather all my data in a reformat.
Thank you

Error 80004005 by installing Windows Vista sp2 x 64
I tried to install this updated 4 x I read an answer in this forum which is similar to my problem and I tried the solution, but it would not install.
I noticed something this last time because I saw the installation process. We all know that the system can reboot several times during the installation. During the 3rd part of the installation, the user account screen asking for the password. However, I had no time to type the password in it, because it jumps to a screen saying that the computer is to install the updates. Then, when the updates for the 3rd party are finished 100% it is said that they can not be installed. Then the computer uninstalls them and puts the computer in its preinstallation State. Is it possible, because I didn't have a chance to enter my password, the computer refuses to recognize me as the administrater during the last part of the installation. Therefore, maybe stop the installation process of the necessary changes and it returns to the previous state. I'm probably grasp at straws here, because I have never had a problem like this before. Does anyone know what I need to do to remedy the situation?
I don't know if it's important but I installed another update after the 3rd time. The update has been successfully installed and working. So I thought that everything was ok and tried to install sp2 again. It's the same thing. Why can I install other updates, but not as an individual? Other than this problem installing, the computer works pretty well. I didn't notice a slow or something else for the past two weeks. I'm puzzled.I have an (office) Packard Bell imedia x 5705 Intel Core 2 Quad 4 x 1 GB (RAM) 2.33 GHz
1000 gigabit hard drive
Type system in Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT130This computer is connected to 2 other computers with a D - Link KVM Switch. One of the other computers has a 32-bit system Intel dual core Vista sp2 running without any problem. They also share a router for internet access broadband.
Should I try to reuse the recovery disk? I don't want to make things worse.
Thank you, Debbie - the technical support for all your help.
I went through all the steps mentioned above in the correct order. However, they have not corrected the problem.
I used the Packard Bell Recovery Management options and restore my computer to its original state. Then I installed all necessary updates including sp2. I was not activate the preinstalled anti-virus software, or change programs or settings up to that later. That's the good thing. Packard Bell Recovery Management also creates a separate file for all personal files. Thus, when the computer has been reset, I still had my personal files. -

After installing the Vista SP2, IE 8 does not work well.
After installing Vista SP2, IE 8 under my.live.com does not work. The pages do not FLOW RSS download, links on the page at the top are not active and usually IE has out crapped. I went to run a complete Internet security suite uninstall Trend Micro and put it in a plain Jane anit-virus program.
I would like to keep the functioning of IE8, but switch to FireFox, if I need to see my RSS STREAM or do some serious web browsing.
In addition, Live Messenger is no longer connect either.
Is there a way I can safely roll back my system to SP1? I can't live without Vista SP2.
Hi Geekster,
Please use the forum for Support of Vista,
IE 8 is not a part of Vista SP2. You can remove SP2 without removing IE8.
Here are the steps to uninstall SP2
Method 1: Uninstall the service pack of Windows Vista by using the programs and features item in the easiest control panel to uninstall a service pack for Windows Vista is to use the programs and features in Control Panel. To uninstall the service pack of Windows Vista by using the programs and features in Control Panel, follow these steps:- Click Start, type Appwiz.cpl in the Start Search box, and then click Appwiz.cpl in the programs list.If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.
- Click view installed updates.
- Click the service pack that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.
If you don't see the option to uninstall for Windows Vista service pack in the list, go to method 2.
- Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the uninstallation.
If method 1 does not allow to remove SP2, try different method in this article:
