  I am getting updates for Vista 32-bit home addition.  The first error message I got windows update has been «800B 0109» I tried to download system KB947821 Vista update readiness tool and have failed.  the error message was "the installer has encountered an error 0x800b0109. a chain of certificates processed, but completed to a certificate root is not by the trust provider. "Then I tried microsoft fix it Center and received a 80040402 error string and runtime entry was not in the right format.

  I tried all the suggestions on this forum, as well as what I can find online, without a solution.  I use Panda Security, however, I uninstalled it and the problem remains.   I have tried the repair on the original CD, ran Fixit and a number of other solutions.  I just reformat the drive and start over, but don't have my original CD for MS Office and cannot afford to lose.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
