Impossible to modify the UAC nonadministrator account

I have a nonadministrator account.  I click on change UAC.  I get a prompt for a password to administor. I give the password. But in the modify UAC dialog box, I get the message "you must be logged as an administrator on this computer to select this setting" when I choose a lower setting, that I need to try.

I'm not surprised, need a non-admin and admin password to change UAC.  I'm surprised an Admin account password still doesn't let you change it.

Given that I can't change it when logged in as long as non-administrator, is possible for an administrator account to change the account settings another UAC?

Hello Chas2004,

If you have not tried to run a SFC scan, I would try that.  This happens on a different standard user account?  If you don't have another account, I could create an and see if you can duplicate.

I would also try this.  Give the standard account of administrator rights, and then see if you can change the settings.  Then remove admin rights just to see if this will allows you to change the settings.

  • Alert the UAC (User Account Control)

I think that there is something wrong with my Microsoft Office Word 2003.

I bought Windows7 a month ago and downloaded Word 2003; It seemed to work OK, then a few weeks later the UAC alert started appearing whenever I tried to open Word.  In fact, it would open up instead of the word WinWord.  And the page would not allow the margin to go beyond the 7-inch mark, andnot allow the page beyond the first page.

This is the message of the alert:

Do you want to allow the following program to bring Ganges to this computer?

    Program name: Winword.exe

    Verified Publisher: Microsoft Corporation

Original file: hard drive on this computer

    Thank you.

I think that there is something wrong with my Microsoft Office Word 2003.

Have you considered the possibility that the problem may be caused by some malicious software or viruses? Word 2003 has been around for seven years and is considered a very stable product.

  • Impossible to change the administrator user account picture?

Just create new pc with Windows 7 Professional. But can not change user account for my own image using the Browse tab?

I have on my old pc Windows 7?

Tried changing the setting 'Apply the default user logon picture' in gpedit does not?

    Kind regards

    Hi Davy,.

You are the administrator of the account?

As you have tried the default user logon image, create a new user account can help you determine if the problem is related to the corruption of user account.

Otherwise, sign in with the account that has administrative rights and try to change the image.

Create a new user account and check if the problem persists, if the problem does not persist in the new user account, then you can fix the damaged user account.

You do not change a POP, IMAP account (or vice versa) in Thunderbird (or any email client, in my experience). configure you a new instance of the account.

If you set up the accounts in Thunderbird using POP and IMAP and to study their settings pages, you will see the differences that make non-interchangeable. Message stores are also very different, but it is not as obvious.

  • XP has changed the user accounts is now impossible to access the administrator account

Something has gone wrong when changing my user accounts. I don't have an administrator account can create a. I can't even restore my system. It doesn't let me do anything! What to do Help!

You use the built-in account named "Administrator"?  If so, the behavior you describe is "a feature, not a bug."

Windows XP hidden administrator account when a user account is created (because it's a good idea not to use administrator systematically; it should be saved for emergencies).

You access the administrator account integrated differently depending on whether you have XP Home or XP Pro.

    For XP Home:

You must restart in Mode without failure.  Restart the computer and start typing the F8 key as soon as the initial startup process is finished.  If you see the Windows logo, you waited too long and you have to restart again.   If you do it right, you will see the white Advance Boot Options menu on black (image).  Use the up/down arrows and the Enter key to select Mode safe because your mouse does not work on this screen.  Once the computer starts in Mode safe mode, the administrator account will appear on the Welcome screen.  If you have not changed the password, the password is blank (no password).

    For XP Pro:

Follow the signs for XP Home Edition, or in the Welcome screen, with no logged-in user, press CTRL + ALT + DELETE twice.  The 'classic' logon box will appear.  Type "Administrator" (without the quotes).  Once again, the default password is empty.

Once you enter the administrator account, create an account with "computer administrator" privileges for occasions when you need (for example, to run the system restore or create accounts).  You can use any name you want (other than Administrator), such as MyAdmin.

  • have 2 admin accounts and it is impossible to get the option to remove one of them

I created for the administrator accounts and cannot get the option to remove one of them. I want to delete that won't give me the option to delete all it will let me do is change the password, it says it will allow me to change the picture, but when I try blank on the login screen is displayed. I can't change it even for standard user if I am logged in under the account of other admin. what I want to do is get rid of all my accounts and re-created them correctly like the one that I can't delete will sometimes pop up for password when I want to install something when I am connected with the other account.

Is it possible to reset all our and start from scratch? I think it happened when I made some changed account policy local when I couldn't get a regular with my admin account setup program and now I don't know how to cancel it.

I do not have to reinstall windows just to get this problem resolved... There must be an easier way.

    Thanks in advance

    Brenda

For the guest account - I have a little poorly stated.  You * can * remove, but it is not recommended to perform this (possible to unintended consequences.)  http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-desktop/deleting-guest-account/5a116d33-0056-47CA-B51A-b6615b90e160

Administrator account - as far as I know you just cannot delete the built-in one.  Whichever one you can NOT remove - who is integrated. * smile *.

Rename you accounts?  If not - it is one called "administrator."  Alternatively, you can use a registry setting to understand - but really the name should give it (if you have not renamed - and even if he did you rename... You renamed, you must know what you renamed to) the description of the account should be, "the computer or to the domain administrative account '...

At the end of the day - you must remove only the accounts you know * you * created.  Ignore the rest.  Windows is/has been / will probably always be a multi-user even system when it is used by a single user.  He has accounts that are doing things in the background at almost any time.  Better than to let them be - unless you like instability.

Whenever you install something (attempt to) as a normal user, it should appear and ask you an administrative level account - but you can select 'other' and put in ANY account of administrative level on this machine, you know the credentials. ;-)
