Ink cartridge indicated as "expiration" and is obsolete

OfficeJet Pro K550. I changed the ink cartridge and put in a brand new. The Toolbox shows that it is full of ink but a message appears "change magenta cartridge to expire." The cartridge is shown that 99 percent full, but the printer will not print. Is there something I can do to disable this control process? Thanks for any help.

I tried to reply to your other post, but he failed. Your printer is listed on the Web page which explains expiry of ink as being one that allows to "replace".

The instructions at the bottom of the page show that you can "continue printing without replacing the ink cartridge, by following the instructions on the printer, in the user manual or the timeout message in ink on the screen of the computer."

    I have a new HP printer Photosmart 6520 series I recently installed an ink cartridge not HP in. I understand that there are risks associated to it and that HP would rather I buy their ink. However, I chose to use this ink anyway.

    The software on my Windows 7 computer now appears a warning whenever I print saying "HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of the supplies not HP" with a link to the HP store.

    Now that I have read, understood and assimilated the message, I would like to that software to stop warning me whenever I try to print.

    Is it possible to disable the message, so that it appears that every time I install a new cartridge, say (or better yet, never)? I checked the forum requests and searched using the system of aid but could not see a response, but apologies if I missed it.

    One thing you could try - click on start, devices and printers, right click on your printer, printer properties Ports.  Uncheck the box "Enable bidirectional support" in the lower left corner, apply, OK.

    This error of "Install black cartridge" is usually caused by a piece of packaging material that remains on the cartridge. The document below should help you to solve the problem. If this does not work, try to do a hard reset. If neither works, let me know.

    To do a hard reset:
    1. make sure that the printer is turned on.
    2. pull on the power cord from the printer.
    3. pull out the power cord from the wall.
    4. wait for 30 seconds.
    5. plug in the printer and turn it on.

    Thanks for the info. I'll try your tactics by chance discovered when the problem recurs. I finally gave in and changed ink cartridges--lost some of the expensive ink HP - as I had to print a document on this printer as the other was not available.

    Someone please tell me that the guy I talked to customer service is a fool and there is a way to print black and white, once your color cartridge runs out of ink.

    If this isn't the case, it's the cheapest clamp, all the money that I've ever heard of.  Someone please tell me they did sink that low.

    Printers that have individual ink cartridges (separate magenta, yellow and cyan) must have all the colors, mounted so as to ensure that the printhead to dry out and is not damaged. Some printers who have integrated print heads (that just take the 2 black and tricolor cartridges) have the ability to print in what is known as a reserve mode. That is where we remove the empty cartridge and is able to print a test page to determine if the printer can operate in reserve mode until a replacement can be purchased. The reason for the cartridges to install, is that the printer uses ink for other purposes in addition to printing. It is also used to maintain the printer.     As to the number of products: it says CN461A - but to some websites, it is called CN461A #A80 - is this the same printer? And what does the #A80?

    A: Yes.  It's half in full by a quarter from a new normal cartridge.  Pagecounts are all depends on a lot and what you print.

    Q: it says CN461A - but to some websites, it is called CN461A #A80

    A: the extra #A80 is probably a regional identifier.  Its basically the same printer but built with some regulation is necessary for your region as energy consumption.

    A: the ink are deteriorating and are more likely to plug in your print heads and contacts.

    A: not necessarily, but it is advisable to listen to your printers of warning messages

    R: damage, maybe not the best term.  It would cause clogs in the ink system that will require additional support.  When the hooves can not be erased then the printer may need to be replaced.

    Q: or what the quality of the print is affected?

    R: technically Yes, but the quality will be not noticeable in most cases with an outdated cartridge.  The ink won't be able to apply paper and take a nice full round, resulting in a glance more stained on a microsopic level.  Your concern should be on the maintenance of the equipment.

    I suggest you call the HP support by phone no matter whether in or out of warranty you may need a replacement printer.

    The number of call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for the Canada and the United States, or you can Contact HP worldwide.

    What is going on, I would advise against using this cartridge now that it has been soaked in water.

    I have a Photosmart B209 more and you just moved from the Arab Emirates UNITED to the France. In the style of France the 178 HP, designed for that printer ink cartridge is not available, and it seems that the cartridge HP 364 in France is the same size and adapts to the machine but wil lnot work. I get a message on the printer saying incompatible cartridge. I saw a post about this problem with instructions to contact HP and get a kind of rearmament of the country. I wasn't able to do that.     You will need to Contact HP to ask a "regionalization Reset." Do not charge for this, it is covered under the warranty of the cartridge. You will need to have access to your computer and printer then on line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once completed reset cartridges of region of origin no longer works.  Webpage of HP on the subject is here.

    Yes, both use the 950 HP ink cartridges.

    However, consider the 950 ink cartridges have been updated and the 8610 support only cartridge of new generation, manufactured in October 2012 or later.

  • Black ink cartridge HP Photosmart C309 to print not

    All of a sudden my printer does not print any black.  I have cleaned the print head (by using tools of the printer), came out of the cartridge and shook to see if he has really ink in it (printer says that it is complete), and it spend it.  The printer has been used regularly - it's not dry.  I tried to print the "status report" and the only thing that prints is the ink supply photos.  The thick black cartridge shows nothing, as if the cartridge is empty.  Can anyone help?

    my HP Photosmart Premium C309a was partially by printing in black and white only, when black has failed. I thought that the startup ink level may have been wrong on the front panel, so I bought a new black ink cartridge. Same problem and so I found this forum. I did a clean cartridge and the black began to work again. It is certainly a matter of keep an eye, and not one I am happy to know. My printer is only 1 month.

    Hello, I have checked the ink cartridges levels three color and just installed a new black ink cartridge.  I did a test of color, which shows any blue.  I did all three levels of cleaning the cartridge heads.  The screen still shows that I have adequate levels of ink, but no blue out at all!  There was a drop of blue outside the cartridge, so it's not like it is clogged.  Thank you!
