Inspiron one 2310 not start - 6 beeps

Hi all

My 2310 soon 4 years - no problem, today screen pixelated then went dark, every time we it reboot beeps 6 times and repeats. nothing starts the application. Beep code is the video card or chip - my question is-

  • is this common?
  • is the discrete video card or the motherboard?
  • It's cost effective/easy to replace?

Here, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - JonL

The graphics/video chip is integrated. To replace the graphics chip, you will need to replace the motherboard

Four "beeps", could indicate a memory problem, if you are comfortable working inside the computer, try to open the case, remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference.

If you not comfortable working with the removal and the reinstallation of the components, then I suggest that you take the Inspiron 530 to a repairman.

  • Dell XPS 2710 all-in-One will not start, the totally blank screen

Hello. This is my first post on the forums and I hope someone can help me.

The Dell XPS 2710 all-in-one I bought for my 10 year old 15 months ago (Yes, that means that the guarantee is expired) will not start. No no post, no beeps, nothing. Just a brief spark of light on the screen, no words, nothing. The machine gets occasional use, and there is nothing to indicate what could have caused the problem. I have not upgraded the BIOS recently, is not as if it was a bad BIOS update, or whatever it is. I tried to hit the F1, F2, F12 keys delete during startup. No results.

The video works. I know because I can connect my laptop to the HDMI-in port and I can see the desktop of my laptop very well. So the question is NOT the video. My son uses this machine for occasional movies and homework in his room. I want to fix the computer, if I can. I am handy with computers and built several machines from the outset in the past.

I believe that the most likely scenario is that the motherboard has went wrong; There are several posts around the internet about motherboards 2710 AIO being unreliable. I saw an ad on the forums of Dell from a guy who said Dell Tech Support replaced its motherboard 2710 five times. I see that some of these motherboards are selling on eBay for around $200. I'm toying with the idea of getting a. I watched the service manual for the 2710 and I'm pretty confident that I could replace the Board of Directors.

Someone had experience with permutation on their motherboard on a 2710 AIO? Or someone has any ideas on what could be the problem with my son's computer? I appreciate all the advice/help anyone could offer.

OK, I have removed all the RAM from the motherboard (there were two sticks) and unplug the connector on the SATA hard drive. Then I turned on the machine and got two beeps very strong, but still no video on the screen indicating any form of activity of the POST. The sound signals have been first sounds I've ever heard during the procedure of boot on this machine. I put the RAM back in and re-connected the SATA cable. The way he has been, no video, no post, no beeps. I'm a bit at a loss for what I've decided, this means that the motherboard works technically and that another device on the machine is at the origin of the problem? Have I reason to assume that if I hear two beeps, then I should have the certainty that the motherboard was bad? Given that this a sound signal, the solution becomes cloudy, I guess. I can't help but feel that somehow the BIOS on the computer is damaged. Don't quite know how that could happen, however, because I have not updated the BIOS in over a year. I don't remember what BIOS version I have, but he had been working well for a year with no problems. Thanks for any other help/suggestions you can provide.

  • Inspiron 1564 does not start

Hi, yesterday an I tried to start this laptop and he has not started. Because it wasn't me the last who used, I don't know if it was too hot or if she switch off suddenly... my dad doesn't remember... xD

    Symptoms:

The laptop turns on by AC or battery and: screen stays black. Fan starts to run as normally. HARD drive starts to spin at the first time but then it stop (so it doesn't load the operating system). Power led, hard drive and battery works as it should. DVD and usb also have the power.

Remove one stick of RAM keeps the system as described above. When two slots are free the mobo make 2 beeps, so that it matches the RAM beep code not detected...

Beeing, push the power button turns the phone off immediately.

The problem would be that the two RAM sticks was bad? I thought to try with the stick of an another laptop but Im afraid to break a new too...

    Thanks for your response

Hi Sunnytours, it seems that your motherboard is fine, the problem is that with the screen, maybe you should try pluggin a tv with a vga or hdmi cable.

If so you see everything fine on the TV or monitor... just buy another screen and replace it yourself if you can, it's easier than you may think.

    Best regards

  • Envy20 d030 than all in One does not start

A week ago, after I downloaded Win 8.1, I received a notice about the HP updates.  I did the updates, but the next morning, the computer does not start and the ports or the CD player also would not work.  I tried F10 and F12 but got nothing.  I do not remember the specific message there was, but it would not move from the initial start-up phase.  I took it to a repair shop and they told me that the BIOS has been altered, as well as areas of the hard disk; the 4 MB of ram card was also burned (we had a lot of lightning, so I don't know if that had nothing to do with this and no more than technicians).  The MOBO extracted fine.  I replaced the hard drive and let the 2 MB of ram.  Everything seemed fine.

Yesterday, I tried to replace the features and specifications of the factory.  I was last updated drivers and rebooted the computer to complete the installation of the system, but the computer wouldn't even start.  HP turns on but it then immediately goes to an error message "no boot disk was detected or the drive failed.  F10 and F12 nothing else that the CD player and the USB ports seem to be ok.  I remember that the updates was a BIOS.  When you perform this update there was a message to be formatted a sector of the hard disk (sector F) but has no so I cancelled it.

Data sheet (current): Envy20 d030 Touch Smart All-In-one

    Windows 8.1

    64 bit

    2 MB of Ram

    1 TB harddrive

I hope this is enough information for someone to help me.  My questions are; That's happened?  How can I solve this problem?  If I order a HP recovery package that will, as much as there is a new hard drive in the machine.

I'm very frustrated about that.  Not only by problems and my loss of use of my computer, but also costs I hired.  I have had many computers and I'm pretty tech savvy but nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

    Thank you

    Pat - D

    Hello again Pat-D,

The recovery disks will be won't on which hard drive you have installed. Your computer comes with a 1 to SATA HDD with a rotation speed of 7200 RPM. If you have another hard drive in there and recognize your computer, you should be good to go.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

    Hi guys,.

I encountered a small problem, at startup, that my Alienware Aurora R4 does not start. The screen is often black and is never the whole part of BIOS and the computer gives 5 clear "beeps" followed by a short break. (This is repeated).

I don't know what is the question, but I read that it was possibly due to a hardware failure or something. You guys could help me please? I'm going to the United States for a short time, so excuse me if I am not able to respond instantly.

Because I can not start the computer, can I safely replace the card with a GeForce 520 and will recognize it and start the computer? It is almost 5 years and I have already replaced the power supply. The computer worked very well all these years and think it can last from several others. Any suggestions? And thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • Inspiron 560 does not start after the new mobo

just relpaced mobo with nine years of old stock that it does not start in windows 7, just goes into repair options, but will not repair.

He's trying to start windows, it happens from windows, you see the glance just color logo on the screen, then it restarts.

Yes, it's the same model mobo.

    TIA.

Check the operating mode SATA for disks - it must be about the same as it was before the jury was replaced (AHCI, RAID, etc.).

    F2 at startup to check.

  • Dell Inspiron 17R will not start

    Hey,.

My Dell Inspiron 17R laptop 5720 was working fine until today, she won't start now. I had a virus, but Avira seemed to clean it properly, so I thought everything is ok now, but after restarting my laptop I didn't even have the "Dell" screen more. I've been Googling this topic for hours, but no one seems to have this kind of problem. Most of the users get stuck after the POST screen, but I don't yet get there. I just press the power button and that's it - laptop starts, but doesn't show anything. 1 out of 10 times, I managed to start and it works perfectly, even restart Windows it works then, but once disable us it probably will start again for the next 7-8 attempts.

    Things I've tried:

-Remove the battery, hold the power button / stop for 60 seconds

-In the course of running Dell Diagnostics (regular and thorough mode) test - it detects no error

    -Commissioning with or without battery

    -Flashing of BIOS (A14)

    -Reinstalling Windows, even tried Linux

-Remove the strips of memory, trying to start with one stick (I had 2 x 4 GB) - will not change anything

It looks like a problem that does occur from time to time. It is a hardware or a software problem? Is there anything else I should try before sending it for repair?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi randomthings,

I appreciate for all stages of misjudged shootings.

I recommend you to disconnect all external devices. Turn on the system and check if there are codes of beeps at startup.

Given that the system turns after several attempts, it may be due to poor nutrition or inadequate food, bad drive HARD or other hardware problem.

A poor, distressed or inadequate diet is often the cause of this problem. If the hard disk does not have enough power during the first time the computer starts, it will not be able to spin the platters of hard drive fast enough to start the computer. However, if you restart the computer, two, three, or four times, because the platters spin already, he is able to get the drive to speed and able to boot from the disc. Try with an AC adapter / CC known good and control; If the problem continues, I suspect it is a HDD failure.

Please, remove the HARD drive and turn on the system and check the status.

  • Satellite M40X-119 does not start - 4 beeps only

    Hello..

    I have Satellite M40X-119
When I press the power button, the blue light comes on and the fan starts and then only 4 beeps
(Beep - beep - beep - beep) intreval approximately 1 seconds. and then nothing happens!

I replaced the RAM with a new one... but still the same

    any advise?

    Hello!

As far as I know the Satellite M40X has a Phoenix BIOS.

Phoenix BIOS, there is no code 1-1-1-1 (beep-beep-beep-beep).
I think it is 1-1-2-1 or something else.
Here is a list of the different beep codes:
    http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/phoenixbeep.htm

If you replaced the RAM, I think that there is something wrong with the CPU or the motherboard.

    Good bye

  • Power supply problem with Dell Inspiron One 2310

    Hello

I have a problem with my computer Dell 2310, as far as I can see that the power supply burned out or something similar. Blue bright lighting supply cable indicates that power delivery is correct, but the power light on the power button does not respond.

I suspect that the power supply is blown and needs to be replaced, I hope that a replacement is available on the list of spare parts and hits on how to properly check if my preliminary diagnosis is correct. I see no reason to suspect problems with the other componentts such as motherboard, memory, disk HARD etc.

Grateful for advice on how to check my diagnose some material.

    Kind regards
