  Currently Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x 86 (no patches since 2008). Currently, it has no AV and has not been connected to the internet yet. It will be behind a router.

  I had to redo the factory already reset after be connected to the net for 20 minutes and then a bunch of programs kept crashing saying Data Execution Prevention had to close the program StackHash and BEX error when executing update for HP drivers.

  Maybe I installed Kaspersky first next time?

  I followed the 'get started' Wizard etc... and after the internet connection immediately had to update adobe (which i did, I hope, who was allowed to do) then 'windows update' informed me of the 84 updates to download and install (from 01/08/13)...

  should *I install option?

  Yes, you must install all of the updates until the Win8.1 is available through shop Windows (not Windows Update). WIN8.1 may not be available or install properly unless & until all prerequisite updates have been installed. Once Win8.1 installed, run a manual check of updates & install all updates security update that may be offered.

  • Wait until Win8.1 & updates security all have been installed before installing Office 2013 (if you can wait that long).
  • Get a driver updated your computer really needs on the download page of the manufacturer of the device or the computer only, NEVER through Windows Update.
