install openmanage

Hello

I try to install OpenManage Server Administrator 6.5 on Dell 2600 on Windows 2003R2, SP2.  I download the latest version for this server.  I'm trying to install this software on this server and I get this error message:

: MSI cannot retrieve media files.  This can happen if you do not have sufficient permission to COM on this system.  See the Readme for more information on how to troubleshoot permission COM.

I tried searching this readme file that it refers to and I do not see it.  I tried to search online to solve problems and pressing on the brick walls.  Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Gerald

What is COM this refers?

COM is Component Object Model

http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/Windows/desktop/ms680573%28V=vs.85%29.aspx

I'm not a programmer, so I don't know much about the functionality of COM. The problem you are experiencing is related to security. The program attempts to perform an action that it cannot complete. It cannot access a required component or perform an action. The reason why he cannot complete this action is probably related to a problem of security or authorization.

Our web customer support is for vSphere 5.5 only. Please make sure it's the version of vCenter that you run.

"If you are on 5.5 check if there are two plugin files in C:/ProgramData/VMware/vSphere Web Client/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity /" If there is, we have seen that removing the oldest file and restarting the blank Server fixed this issue.

  • OpenManage cannot install server Instrumentation

I want to install OpenManage Server Administratror on our servers, the mix of different PowerEdge servers and Windows operating system. It is installed and works very well on some but not on others. The problem is with the installation, the Web Server installs ok but server Instrumentation and NIC Interfaces do not appear even in option and are not installed. I checked that the versions of OpenManage are correct for the hardware and the operating system and everything else I can think. The impression that I'm missing something simple?

    Hi Jon,

Using OMSA version 7.4?  On systems that fail, they are VMs? as we have seen a similar question during installation accidentally to virtual machines.

Try this. For OMSA to install questions, you can install using the OMSA the. Fichier_MSI instead of setup.exe.  When you use the. MSI to install OMSA, you can use parameters to specify the installation location of the newspaper.

    (1) download and extract OMSA

    2) go to a command prompt and navigate to C:\OpenManage\windows\SystemsManagement

    (3) msiexec.exe /i SysMgmt.msi/l * v "C:\openmanage\logs\SysMgmt.log".

This will place the Setup logs in the C:\OpenManage\logs folder.

Let me know if you can send me the logs. I will send you my email.

    Have a great weekend.

I installed OpenManage 7.4.0 on a new server EP R320 running Ubuntu 14.04.  I installed the same way I've always done successfully, but now I can't get the "Administrator" privileges  When I login with user and password of my system, I get only the 'User' access level (I got "Power User" once (!)).

    My content in the/opt/dell/srvadmin/etc/omarolemap file:

    # This is the default entries specified to allow users with OS-level privileges in OMSA

  • Problem with OpenManage on a T300 with R2 2012 Windows

When I install OpenManage on a PowerEdge T300 with R2 2012 Windows and it is originally a 'limited' warning of network connectivity and connection to the gateway is lost. I have to run a network card 'repair' every time that the alert go away and the restored network connection. Even after a reboot, I still have to run the repair. When I uninstall OMSA network card works fine. I tried OMSA version 7.3, 7.4, 7.4.0.2, 8.1. The matrix of compatibility on the Dell site seems to show that it should be compatible with 8.1 and 7.4 (on a T300 with 2012 R2). Our network card is a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit (version 17.0.0.3 driver). Everyone knows about this problem? I come to a legacy version, although compatibility documentation does not appear 2012 R2 as as operating system supported?

    Tstout21,

The problem you are having sounds like an updated version of firmware on the network card. I suggest you uninstall OMSA, then restart and update the network map. Although the update of the firmware should fix, I suggest that we update the driver as well up-to-date. You can not the driver and firmware here. After completing the updates, restart and go forward then reinstall OMSA.

Let me know how it goes.

  • idrac7 vs Dell OpenManage

    Hello

    1. Of idrac7 on we can monitor each reflection without need to install OpenManage on server operating system?

    2. With idrac7 us have no advantage install OpenManage on server operating system?

    3. With idrac7, we can manage the storage with any kind of PERC?

    Thank you

    David Costa

    1. To iDRAC 7 and more you will have the ability to monitor and alert on all the material that is in a server. If you want the information available in the iDRAC of the operating system, you need to install iDRAC Service Module (ISM) or OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA).
    2. Yes, you will get additional information, for example with the ISM you will get:
    3. Yes
  • Causes OpenManage network do not mount at startup

    PowerEdge T300, Server 2008 (x 64)

We've added two disks to our server, and to try to avoid restarting, I installed the OpenManage software so that we can provide as a new RAID1 array.

I did the installation on the desktop remotely and when he arrived at the "starting services" Server dropped connection network.  We could not access the server on the network at all. Someone in the Office did a reboot hard (instead of trying to connect to the console), and when the server came back to the top, the network is still not available... Someone logged onto the console, open the properties IPv4 network connection properties and clicked on apply, and it started to work again... We were hoping that it was a question once, but we have restarted two times since and every time the network would not come to the top.

Is there some OpenManage component that could cause this problem? My boss won't retire until we actually try to understand what the problem is.

Any other ideas of what to watch? The fact that it happened first when installing OpenManage points to be the problem, but I can't be 100% sure.

If you have a Broadcom NIC firmware which is very old, sometimes happens.  Updated the firmware of the NETWORK adapter and the drivers, then your network connection must be restored.

  • OpenManage Essentials "Devices" tab missing

    Hello

I have installed OpenManage Essentials of this year beginning. He worked a much brought us good value.

Now about three weeks ago the tab "devices"in the web application under the menu "Manage" suddenly disappeared.

I can still search for devices (However by clicking on in the bar nothing research happens), notifications of changes in System State work fine as well. Basically, everything works as it should, just this single menu item is missing which I think he has some importance within the application.

I tried to repair the installation that has not helped.

I'm running OME on version 2.0.1.2222 on a virtual Windows Server 2008 R2, fully patched, as well as SQL server 2008 R2 on a separate instance of W2k8R2.

Can I do something to fix this problem without having to re - install OME? (and reconfiguration should the problem be the associated database)

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, it seems that some the key of OME plugin cannot be loaded.  That is why the tab is missing, etc.

It is is like a database corruption problem.

Best to open a support ticket at 800-945-3355.  If they can get a copy of the database, it might be useful for the team to consider in order to help understand what could have gone wrong.

But a new inst will probably be in the cards.

    Kind regards

    Rob

  • OpenManage user access

I have installed OpenManage on windows 2008. My local administrator is able to connect to the web interface and have all the rights. After having coated the server active directory, domain administrator accounts can connect to the web interface, but it doesn't have administrator rights. I tried to add the field to the OmeAdministrators group administrator account, but I can not get administrator rights.

That's all you're a thank God. You have users in the OMgroups individually not as a group.

  • H710P, configure via OpenManage?

We have a T620 server with SAS H710P RAID controller. On our 610 we could add relief through IDRAQ, seem not to be able to do it with the 620. If I install OpenManage (we run ESXi 5.5 on the system) that I'd be able to hot plug a spare part and configure it (via OpenManage, no BIOS)?

    Thank you

    Hi Lou,

Yes, if you install openmanage server administrator, you will be able to configure a hot spare.

  • 5.4 OpenManage cannot initialize new disks PowerEdge 840

I'm bored of Array Manager. I think Openmanage is a poor substitute.

I have a new Dell PowerEdge 840 Server with two disks SAS and SAS 5i/R controller of berries in a mirror Raid-1 (made in hardware)

I have installed OpenManage 5.4 WITH the storage option.

I put two new hard drives SAS I want to initialize and create another virtual disk of Raid-1.

OpenManage sees the drives (loans and OK but not online) and gives me two options under tasks "Blink" and "Unblink.

Now when I put two drives in my component Snap Server PowerEdge 1600SC Array Manager 3.6 MMC 3 years, I could create a virtual disk from the operating system.

What happens with Array Manager. Why he let do this to me?

What is going on? Why can't initialize new disks and create a virtual disk?

It comes to my main server. I can't take it offline for 10 hours initialize disks.

I went into Windows disk management and that he sees the drives but I don't want a Software Raid.

    Thank you

name of the data store: datastore

    esxcli - server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - software h.yyy vib install [datastore]/VIBS/OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-6.5.0-542907.VIB-ESX50i_A02.zip d

When I run the command, I get the following message:

    [No VIBs specified with n /-vibname or v - /-viburl.]
Please see the log file for more details].

When I run the command 'software list vib', I get results, so I'm sure that his connection to the host properly.

Any who can shed light as to why the installer is not work/how to make it to work?

    Thank you!

    -Brent

You can enable SSH and access it that way, or just get on the local console of the ESXi host and activate the ESXi shell in the DCUI troubleshooting section. F2 will enter you the DCUI, then make the change and press ALT + F1 to switch on the Shell of ESXi. You will need to connect to the ESXi host and you can then run the esxcli command. When type out and then press ALT + F2 and turn ESXi Shell go back.
