Installation of Oracle development tools

I have a client machine with Visual Studio 2012 and I want to install Oracle Developer Tools because I want to use Entity Framework to generate classes from first data base of my Oracle Database 11.2.0.3 that I can use to access the underlying database content.

I found the ODAC 11.2 Release 5 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Tools installation bits. I install it and it works.

The question I have is that my machine has already Oracle Instant Client and ODAC (XCopy) installed, but Setup above seems to insist on installing all this yet once somewhere else. My question is whether or not it is possible to just install Oracle Developer Tools.

I think you're asking:

"If I can install a YES install (Oracle Universal Installer) 11.2.0.3 in the same location where I installed a 11.2.0.3 XCOPY release?

If this is your question, the answer is no. If a product is YES only, as ODT is, you must install it in an Oracle YES official home. You can not install in an XCOPY installation location.

Apart from the extra space is required, this should not have an impact.

  • Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio needs an Oracle Client for the Windows Installation?

Hi everyone, I need to know if Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio is in need of a customer Oracle for Windows installed

    Thanks for your time

Yes, you have the Oracle Client. However, you don't need to install the Oracle Client separately. ODT automatically includes the Oracle customer in each ODAC installation.

The next version of the ODAC have an ODT version that uses ODP.NET, successful pilot. This version is not longer an Oracle Client.

    Hi all

I need to uninstall a previously installed ODAC 12 c module 4 and Oracle Developer Tools silently. Oui\bin\setup.exe will be fine uninstall, but I want to uninstall it from script.

There is no button to save a responsefile at the end of the dialog box.

    oui\bin\setup.exe-Enregistrer FichierDestination - odacr4 - deinst.rsp

Does not complain, but does not record a response file.

Installation notes describe uninstall them, but not without supervision/silencer.

    Any advice?

    Best regards

    Niels Jespersen

Here's what I used to silently uninstall ODT with ODAC. It does not require a response file, but requires that you specify the Oracle home

    "{' C:\oracle\product\12.1.0\client_1\oui\bin\setup.exe-silent - waitforcompletion - nowait - uninstall" DEINSTALL_LIST = {"oracle.odac.client","12.1.0.2.0"} "' REMOVE_HOMES={"C:\oracle\product\12.1.0\client_1 "}"

    A log file is generated in C:\Program Files (x 86) \Oracle\Inventory\logs

  • What version of Oracle Developer tools is installed?

Hello. I have an Oracle 9i server, and I want to install Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013. Can you please tell me which version should I install my projects to communicate with Oracle. I installed the xcopy Release 6 of oracle Developer Tools x 64 but I don't see the provider in the provider Visual Studio 2013 list. I need to intall something more? Version 12 does not support 9i. What can I do? My developer machine is Windows 7 x 64.

There is no combination of development tools Oracle with the support of 2013 VS that will work with a 9i database.

Do you really need development tools? (for example you create table adapters or entity templates?).  If all you need is the connectivity from code, an older version of ODP.NET (for example ODP.NET 10.2) should work with VS 2013.

If you really need Oracle development tools, you must either use an earlier version of Visual Studio (and ODT 10.2) or you will need to use a newer version of the database.

  • AMT problem with Oracle 11 g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools

    I installed the full
Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio

now I'm in the good old ' [ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified] "error.

I copied the tnsnames.ora even as that used on the db Server
    on the client 'C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\Network\Admin '.
The host name is just like a normal ping works. TNSping is not available.
but I get the [ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified] error.
The listener is running and the instance as well since everything works on the source server.

    I tried with

    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\bin

but tnsping is still not recognized.

sqlplus works however when I put in
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\

    What is going on...

    Hello

No, actually, I mean try including your IP in tnsnames as

    CONTROL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = **)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = Control)
    )
    )

and then, try, you can also try SQLNET.authentication = (NONE), also make sure you provide safely

    Hello
Download http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex-listener/downloads/index.html here ApexListener. The installation guide is on this page http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex-listener/documentation/index.html.

Alternate, unzip the download and look toward the top of the Installation and the developer's Guide in doc folder. You have all the necessary steps. You can try the Standalone ApexListener initially. (Tip: search for the stand-alone word in the document).

Make sure that you run the apex/owa/owainst.sql, because you're in 10g when connected in SYSDBA.

    Kind regards

  • Report Builder charts of Oracle in Oracle Developer Suite 10 g

    Hi everyone, please, help me.

I'm working on Oracle 10 g (10.1.2.0.2). I need to insert graphs (pie, bar etc).
I browsed the forum and I fell on the thread below:
Report Builder charts of Oracle in Oracle Developer Suite 10 g

He suggests that we should download demos 11g (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/downloads/index.html)
    and discover the BI graph.

BUT the problem is that the installation in the zipped folder guide says very prerequisites for installation of the demo is to have 11g. and it will not work for 10g.
If this is the case then how I insert charts. I need to complete this work as soon as possible.

In my research, I also found the thread below where people say that this will work also for 10g.
    http://CN.forums.Oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2247043

And if possible can anyone explain in brief or detailed steps. It will really help a lot of people.

  • Oracle 11g installation on Oracle Virtual Box shape [solved]

Hi friends I want to share my experience in oracle forms and reports on Virtual box installation if this post has already been done by someone, I'm really very sorry to post again. My intention is only to make installation as easy as possible, and for your information, this isn't a full installation of forms in itself, it's just for people who would like to work on a standalone machine.

    Software requirements

    (1) oracle Virtual Box
    (2) Xp professional edition - 32-bit
    (3) Oracle 11 g Server
    (4) Weblogic server - specific file name I used for the installation is (wls1033_oepe111150_win32)
    (5) portals oracle forms, reports and discoverer - file name (ofm_pfrd_win_11.1.1.2.0_32_disk1_1of1, 2, 3, 4)
    (6) portals oracle, forms, reports and discoverer - file name (ofm_pfrd_win_11.1.1.3.0_32_disk1_1of1) - Patch
    (7) Java 1.6

    Steps for installation

    (1) install Virtual box on your operating system and make sure u create 2 partitions

    c 15 GB and d drive around 10 GB
allocate 2 GB of ram for the virtual machine

    (2) after completing the installation of XP in your area start Virtual installation Oracle 11 gb database that the path for Oracle home or in drive D most of the time oracle Installer chooses D drive if not good to change the D drive.

    (3) now install weblogic server keep installing type as typical, and install the application in the end uncheck 'run quick start '.

    (4) installation portals Oracle, forms, reports and discoverer - name of file (ofm_pfrd_win_11.1.1.2.0_32_disk1_1of1, 2, 3, 4) - unzip all files four zip and place it in the same folder and the open disk1 and run the installer. during installation choose install only software. Note: Do not try to configure.

    (5) once who completed unpack the content of second forms which is the file name (ofm_pfrd_win_11.1.1.3.0_32_disk1_1of1) - unzip the contents to a folder and run the installer it will update all the software generated by your previous installation.

    (6) now go to step 5 - this time, while installing choose install and configure, it will create the process required to run forms and reports.

Very important note: make sure that your Home of Oracle Directory is "as_1" or else to ensure that that name u give all by performing step 5 and give the name of the same to step 6 and again when you run step 5 _

    (7) now all the required tools has been installed now a little tweaking to make it work.

    (a) copy the file tnsname.ora from the folder < username > \product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN D:\app\ next
    (b) paste it in the folder - C:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\config replace the file.

    (8) install the version of Java 1.6 or later

    (9) move shortcuts to programs and find the as_inst1 Oracle Instance classic-> Forms Services-> start weblogic server

    (10) make shortcuts of programs and find the as_inst1 Oracle Instance classic-> Developer Tools-> Forms Builder

You now have your Oracle Forms and reports ready. If something is wrong in the right steps you forgive me (but tested a few times).

  • What development tool should I change to?

    Hi all

English is not my native language, please excuse my typos.

I am currently working in the Department of engineering of a large chemical company, and I got the responsibility to choose which development tool suitable for developers of software for the Department.

I'm not an expert at all and I need help.

Developers used to use Forms 6i, but they plan to change because they want to update all of their Oracle tools. The problem is: should they use forms 11, Jdeveloper, APEX or something else? I did some research on these tools, but I can't find a comparison of them.

So far, the development team has made software with reports and forms 6, that were running on the Windows XP computers, connected to an Oracle 8 database on a server. Tired of dealing with installation and administration on all PCs, they decided to make the software that runs on the server, to be used by many people at the same time through the corporate network.

My question is: is there a better tool to realise these software on the web?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the development tools different?

The team is going to "migrate" old software as well to make them run on a server, I tried the tool of migration of the APEX 3 and 10 forms migration tool, but coming to no good, I'm probably doing it wrong... but is there an easy way to migrate from Forms 6i to another tool?

I really hope I made myself understood.
If this is not the case, simply ask me what you don't understand and I will try to explain better.

    Help me please :)

    RAF

Depending on your training budget, it may be best to stick with Oracle Developer Suite (forms/States) rather than retrain everyone to use Apex, Java, etc. There are always problems of training associated with the transition to the last developer forms, but the training will be much less.

A couple of documents that you want to consider are:
    1. oracle is upgrading Oracle Forms 6i with Oracle 11 g shape
2 forms of oracle 11 g Release 1 (11.1.1) documentation, specifically the "Forms Services Deployment Guide" and "Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Portal, forms, reports and discoverer."
