New HP cartridges give "exhausted ink cartridges" error

I replaced the Starter cartridges in my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 with new HP cartridges, but the printer gives me an error "of ink cartridges run out" and won't let me print anything.  I tried one of the colors replacing with 2 different new cartridges and get the same error.

Thanks for the tips.  I tried the reset and button-pushing without result.  I had to order a new cartridge, even if mine was still full.  A new worked perfectly well.  Because I was using a genuine HP cartridge, I managed to return and it was replaced with a new one.  So, I'm back in business, even if I lost a few days of waiting for a new cartridge.

Thank you.

  • Photosmart Pro B9180: Exhausted ink with new cartridge message

I had 2 showing depleted, inks Light Cyan and Magenta, so I replaced them both.  After a bit of memorization and re - insert, I managed finally to get the LC to be accepted, but kept showing Magenta empty ink Replace cartridge. Finally I managed to get the printer to accept the cartridge by removing the yellow and magenta and the closing door ink cartridge so this printer it has advised both cartridges where either missing or damaged. I then re inserted the Magenta cartridge and closed the door and waited for the error message about the yellow show and then re-inserted cartridge yellow. The printer then went to the ready state. Hurrah! After a print test sheet and a couple of head cleans and then some photos on plain paper I tried to print on photo paper. At half way through printing the machine stopped and threw the message for the Magenta cartridge is exhausted. I cheated once again the printer twice to remove the yellow and magenta cartridge and put back as before. It has managed to get at the end of printing, which indicated that the heads remain a pure which I proceeded to do. Unfortunately the printer cannot again print throwing up the message that the Magenta cartridge was exhausted and needed replacement.

After doing a lot of research online, it seems it is a common problem, but what I failed to find are solutions even on the HP forum.

Is this a problem with the cartridge having questionable chips? Is this a problem with the printer, chiefs or general design?

I really need an answer that will prevent me from buying inks Dungeon I am wasting money. I have tried all resets as described in other posts here. Unfortunately once the exhausted ink message nothing different pose can be done as the printer all crashes.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Hello Jabzi,

an update on printer problems. Following your last message, that the printer has again stopped work while I followed your advice and tell me the magenta was exhausted that I knew, that it could not be. In any case, I decided that the cartridge must be defective, so I ordered a new one. The next day, waiting to get to the printer, I let on, ran his daily routine of maintenance and the problem corrected itself, is great. I ran a few prints which still showed heavy bands/bad colors, so I ran routines cleaning and alignment that has made the problem worse. What I noticed, is that the banding seemed to be linked to black ink and there are large gaps in the text. I changed the black photo that has been reading about 25% full I had read a similar post where someone had problems with a low black cartridge. I also pulled the print heads and thouroghly them cleaned manually. The two black print heads showed signs of ink muddy accumulate but color heads everything looked very clean. After cleaning and reinserting the heads the printer ran his routine alingment and produces best alignment prints that I had. I then printed the test page, was also excellent showing no missing text and three print heads that fell in fair condition were now show as good. Since then I've produced great prints.

That I summise from all this is that the problems seem to have stems printheads being blocked preventing ink flow and giving messages erroneous re cartridges is exhausted. Everything that was probably due to the printer being unused and left off for an extended period. Once the heads had been cleaned and enough ink has flowed to purge the ink heads has been lying in it for a period the printer was able to function properly.  At least I now have a spare cartridge magenta on-site as well as a printer to work.

I hope it's useful to anyone having similar problems.

    Thanks for your help

    Concerning

  • Officejet Pro 8600 ink cartridge error

one or more cartridges seem to be damaged K.  Message appeared after replacing the exhausted original install black cartridge.  I replaced the cartridge to spare with a new cartridge, nothing helps.  I cleaned the contacts and even replaced all the original cartridges installation, once again nothing is.  This is a wireless printer and PC using a windows 7 Home premium OS.  It seems that a printer problem not connected to a PC or a BONE.  It's the HP printer 2nd I have who has the same problem.  All suggestions except substitute the printer?

@ REBjr.  -I understand that you are getting the error message on the printer that is related to the print cartridges.  Are you using genuine HP unfilled ink in the printer? I would like to start by doing a hard reset of the product to try to put the printer back into a known working state and try to clear the error message before replacing parts.  Here is a document that provides the steps for the hard reset.  Also, is there residue on the black cartridge?  If so, I would look at this link here. It aims to get a printer ink cartridge error message when you try to install a new black cartridge in the machine. I hope this helps.

  • ink cartridge error (failed electric pen)

Deskjet D4360 printer; 32-bit Windows/vista; request entry/solution for/on "ink cartridge error (failed electric pen)."  new placement of ink cartridge were found. due research: have cleaned the contacts of cartridges (w / fluffy lin distilled water & reinstall cartridge. problem persists)

What cartridge has been replaced? Make sure the printer is connected directly to the wall jack to make sure that the printer gets enough energy to function properly. Remove the cartridge and inspect the chute. Do you see differences between the two falls as a missing metal PIN or debris in one that is not in the chute on the other? Given that you have cleaned and inspected the cartridges already, I would then try reset the printer the following. No user settings are lost with this reset and they're trying to put the printer back into a known working state and clear the error message.

    To do this reset:
    1. take the cartridges from the printer and close the access door.
    2. If the printer is turned on, unplug the power cord at the back of the printer. Then disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet
    3. wait at least 30 seconds
    4. connect the power cord to the wall outlet, and then again in the printer
5 wait for the machine to start. Once he recognizes that the cartridges are missing, place them in a moment.

    I hope this helps.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: just installed new HP cartridges and ink colors are disabled!

It's very expensive 4 950 XL and 951 cartridges XL that I bought at Staples a couple of months. I noticed right after installation that bright red in my images were now feel like dull brown. I printed a few pages from the control panel of the printer test. Cyan and yellow seemed pretty accurate, but magenta was a deep purple, not the lightest color pink or pink, I expected. I think that something was wrong with the series production of this cartridge. I hope I can find my receipt, but if not, always wait that HP would replace a full cartridge that was flawed in manufacturing. My HP printer has an accuracy of colors great until about a week ago, but is now almost useless for the work at home that I want to do - for example custom greeting cards, cards, posters, etc.. I printed the test pages don't show any problems with the alignment of the head, and the stripes of color show no scratches. Just a magenta that is close to her correct hue, based on my long experience with color ink jet printers.

An HP service technician spent 1/2 hour on the phone with me yesterday, and we could not solve the problem. I had already worked through the steps that you referred me to. I have never known or heard of a problem like this, and had not the technology. When I printed the Diagnostic Page of print quality, I have absolutely perfect alignment and bars very clean black, gray and colors. Yellow and cyan looked quite right. Magenta was a deep, dark - purple not magenta I am familiar with years of work with inkjet printers. But it's printed cleanly, I started to believe that the new magenta cartridge, which had just been installed as well as 3 other XL cartridges, had somehow got filled with dark purple ink. However during our tests, asked me to remove the magenta cartridge and pick up some color from around the beak with a Q Tip. When I rubbed on the print paper, it was true magenta!

Other theories were: (1) that somehow the circuit board of the printer and print head did not and triggers the two nozzles magenta and cyan times reported magenta printing. That seems the most likely answer. 3 the theory was that the ink in the print head channels had a leak between inks cyan and magenta. It seems less likely, because there is no impurity in the print cyan, as well as the color printing was absolutely consistent over several test pages. The tech asked me to remove the print head Assembly and clean the area around the nozzles. That did not help.

In the end, I was offered a model of printer a HP refurbished more recent than mine. The price was very reasonable - much less than the cost of a printed circuit board or a feeling of head. He also used the same cartridges, so my XL series would be used later once provided with the new printer cartridges are consumed. I took that offer and hope to have a new printer from Tuesday. So I'm glad HP service.

  • New black cartridge do not align

I have a HP laptop and my printer is a HP EnVY 4500 e-all-in-one-series.

I installed a new black cartridge Ref. HP61. The printer will scan, but the alignment fails. This is a new printer. I had an old HP printer that does the same thing. That's why I bought thinking it was the HP ENVY printer.

Thus, the new cartridge, new printer, same problem, will not align the scanned map.

If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

I understand how frustrated you must try to get the printer working, I will help the best I can.

What looks like the alignment sheet?

    Missing colors?

I would like to do a hard reset to see if that will solve the problem.

    • Let the printer and disconnect the printer cable and the wall socket for 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cable to the output of the printer and the wall, and not a surge protector. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
    • Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (do not use a hub or a surge protector) This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
    • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges.
    • Load white letters unused, plain or paper of A4 format with a brightness level of at least 85 on the set.

If the problem persists, I would try the steps in this guide, an "alignment failed" Error Message is displayed on the control panel.

  • OfficeJet 4315 "cartridge error - refer to the device documentation.

I have an Officejet 4315 - received the flashing! (orange light) and the message 'cartridge error-see you in the documentation for the device. Use new cartridges HP 21 and 22. Took out them, inspected, cleaned, etc.

    Cannot print page test/alignment.

Uninstalled and reinstalled printer software. No luck. Flashing! just got back after having disconnected and uninstall/reinstall.

    How to solve this error?

Remove the black print cartridge and keep only the color cartridge to verify the message. Now remove the color cartridge and only insert the black cartridge in and check the message. This should give an idea on what cartridge has a problem.

  • C4780 printer cartridge error

    Hello

Like many other people, I met an error of printer cartridge on my HP C4780. It occurred with a new color cartridge. I tried it out and it back to clean, it did not help. It will not print anything with her.

Subsequently, the black cartridge has begun to report the same error intermittently. It is reported by the software ~ 50% of working time. When it is reported to work, however, the printer "print only"white pages. " It will not print a test page, same head cleaning only returns a blank page, even if it is still abundant ink in the cartridge (~ 60%).

I use Windows XP pro and have not installed all the programs since the last print job successfully, just until the ink in the old cartridge ran out.

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Hi Smrekar,

When did you buy the cartridges?

They are the new HP cartridges or revised cartridges?

Ink cartridges have their own warranty and expiration on them. Please contact 800-HP-Invent, so they can assist with troubleshooting cartridges, and as long as they are still under warranty and have a problem, they can be replaced.
