Hello

I have a test instance that is running in sun solaris 9. Since I have enough disk space I intend to install the screws or dev env in the same server with different ports.

anyone tried similar installation?

Thank you

You can do this, I have already R11 and R12 and R12.1.1 on the same server. The main problem here is your server can handle all your instance on this subject, you may have a performance problem but thatsall.

Either way, I suggest take oraInst.loc, oraInventory oratab file under/etc and and also create new user (applmgr-oramgr) of your new system

  • Restore the backup with a new name and a different location on the same server

    Hi all

I did a complete backup of my current PROD. Is it possible to restore the database on the same server, but with a different instance name, db_name and on another location?

    PRM says:
    Hi all

I did a complete backup of my current PROD. Is it possible to restore the database on the same server, but with a different instance name, db_name and on another location?

If you use RMAN my awnser is not.

You cannot change the name of the database before open resetlog.

But you can make this work without problem using the same server.

You will need to change some parameters.

Create a PFILE from SPFILE (prod) change parameter 'db_unique_name' file new name (ex TEST).

Change all the value of PROD TEST except db_name parameter must be PROD.

CREATE a SPFILE from this PFILE (spfileTEST.ora)
Create a new password file (orapwTEST)

So you can start this new Instance_name (TEST).

Restore the PROD to TEST instance database, you will need use set new name to the file data or database (depends on which version you use)

Retrieve the instance PROD database (TEST)

It is time to open resetlogs...
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION HERE!

You need change redo log location before open resetlogs, you must query v$ logfile member column and change it to another location.

After change you can open resetlog.

Now its time to change name of database.

    Stop and start Mount

    Use the NEST

    NEST target=sys/password@instance DBNAME = TEST

When this process is complete, NEST will be closing database.

So you will need to start with nmount change db_name to the TEST and reset the parameter 'db_unique_name' (alter system reset db_unique_name)

Then stop and start upstairs question OPEN DATABASE RESETLOGS and is done.

  • PowerCLI and vCLI - install both on the same server

    Hello

Probably a stupid question, but I vCLI installed on the server vCenter Server (necessary for a health script that is running)

Can I install powercli on the same server and use powergui etc. ?

    See you soon

When your environment is locked, you of course have to execute scripts on the vCenter.

It's a trade-off between security, ease of use and potential risks.

But each site must make their own environment analysis

  • Database Oracle and VirtualCenter 5.0 on the same server?

We have 11 ESXi host and whant to install Oracle R2 on the VirtualCenter 5.0 server.

VirtialCenter 5.0 and Oracle will bee installed on a virtual machine.

The virtual machine will have 4 vCPU´s 2 GHz each and 8 GB of RAM.

    So my question is:

Is - this senario ok, or do I have TO install Oracle on a separate server?

    Hello

You can use Oracle as the database for vCenter Server 5.0 and is therefore capable of managing all your ESXi hosts - all 11 of them. This means that you need to install Oracle on your virtual machine where you plan to install the vCenter Server 5.0 and when it asks for the select Oracle database. See the installation guide for vCenter Server 5.0.

  • CSA 5.1 and 6.0 MC on the same server

    Hello

Anyone know if there are problems with enforcement MC 5,1 CSA and CSA MC 6.0 on the same Windows 2003 Server?

Are their questions with them in writing to the same database?

I'll have to upgrade the 200 server operating system to SP2, so I hope that this does not affect the existing MC 5,1 and Agents 5.1 who still use the MC 5,1

It's actually a secanario of migration it should work fine. I had no problem with 5.2 and 6.0 on the same system.

  • blazeDS and 2 independent tomcats on the same server

    Hello

On the same machine that I use two tomcat server. The two Tomcat have the same web application with BlazeDS, but with different parameters.

I noticed that the Flex application always communicate with blazeds the first that was started. services - config.xml contains a different url for both apps...

    How is that possible?

    Thanks in advance!

    Olive

The root of the server, port, and the context are defined when you create the Flash Builder project.  They exist in the project properties, and can be adjusted by selecting Project/Properties/Flex Server in the menu bar.  The same properties dialog box is available via click RMB on the project in the package Explorer.

FB allows only a single server/context by project sheet.  You can programmatically create your channelsets to access multiple servers, however.

  • SRM and VCenter on the same server?

I was just by reading the documentation and I saw that I need to have vCenter in both places in my SRM deployment. Now I'm on a server. SRM and vCenter co-exist on the same server? Is it still a good idea. I don't have a problem with the purchase of another server if I need to.

I have a follow-up question on the vCenter licenses. Do I need to purchase a second license for the recovering site vCenter?

    -Patrick

SRM and VCenter can coexist on the same server.  You will see a performance impact when you test your disaster recovery plan.  I think that a lot of achievements have vCenter and SRM on the same server.  If you do not want to take the risk of a performance hit on your vCenter server you might move RS for its own box, but I advise to use a virtual machine instead of another physical server.

I think that you need a license of vCenter to each site.  If your recovery site hosts only the DR then you can use your existing licenses for ESX.  If your DR will site also its own VM produciton is then you will need full license.

  • Configuration of test and Dev choose between servers

Need to create 2 configurations of node Test and Dev using 3 servers

    Server A - 8 GB of ram, hd 146GBx2, 4 core 1.2 GHz process.
Server B - same as above
    Server C - 8 GB of Ram, hd 146GBx16, corex1.2 dual 4 GHz process

I thought it was to make the server A and Server B as the level Apps and Server C to accommodate the DB layer for a server and Server B

Server A - accomodation Test App layer
Server B - accommodation Dev App Tier
Server C - accommodation DB level for test AND DB layer for Dev

There are other combinations are also possible. Let me know if you feel that some other permutation can be useful and why?

    Sunil,

Since you have limited space on server A and Server B, I think the above should be the best configuration. If the size of your database is small or if you manage to add more space for Server A and Server B, then I would say you have the TEST instance on server A, C and the DEV instance on server B, C, as follows:

-Test instance: Application on the server C and database on a server

-Instance DEV: Application on the database on server B and Server C

  • Dev to create and test instances of the Summit on the same server and database

I have a dev and instances of the Apex on different servers of prod. I want a test instance on the same server as the instance of dev.

I use workspace import/export so all the workspaces instance have the same id of the workspace. The application ID is the same on each instance in the same workspace. This allows the pages to be exported or imported in the case of differenct.

My question is (I'm sure it's obvious) I can have several instances of the Apex on the same database (dev and test) and have each the same instance ID workspace, etc..

    Sam

.. often I have multiple instances of the Apex on the same database (dev and test) and I each instance have IDS of the same workspace...

No, there can only be one Application Express instance in a database.

  • He would work to have 3.2 and 4.2 on the same server of db with different web servers?

    Hello

I have three existing environments which are 11g and Apex 3.2 on Linux (Dev, Test, Prod). I have also three front-end web servers that are Windows 2003 with IIS for Apex (Dev, Test, Prod)

We have three new Windows servers running 2008 we upgraded to.

So, my question is on the upgrade of Apex to 4.2 at the same time. I would like to have the new Windows Server (Dev), and then point to the same server to Linux as my old Windows 2003 db. And it points to the same instance of db. My goal would be to achieve production with this configuration and then just do a redirect to URL on the old Windows 2003 server and that it points to the new Windows Server 2008. In this way, that I wouldn't need to move data from one instance to another.

Would this work? I have installed 3.2 and 4.2 on the same instance of db? A 3.2 Windows Server and have a pointed Windows 4.2 server on the same back-end server?

APEX lives on the database instance. Run you the APEX on the database upgrades. The short answer to what I think is your question is No.

I don't know what is the relevant motivation?

  • Install Windows 7 64 bit and Vista 32 bit on the same drive

I have Vista 32 bit installed on my laptop. Media recovery is on a recovery partition, I have no recovery DVD such as $85 for something that should be included with my expensive laptop anyway, it is a bit much

I have a drive to upgrade Windows 7 from my laptop manufacturer that allows me to each upgrade or to start from scratch.

I want to install Windows 7 64 bit on a separate partition for the installation of my 32-bit Vista, but when I boot on the DVD there is no option to select the 32 or 64 bit, it only allows me to install the 32-bit version. I have partitions installed correctly then they arnt the problem. If I try to boot from the recovery partition to install Vista 64 bit on a separate partition, to upgreade can leave, he simply don't say so, it doesn't allow the recovery or replacement of my existing Vista installation. Also, often when I boot to recovery mode, by organizing 0 start up, he simply waits some time and the Vista of boots in any case.

How should I do to dual boot Windows 7 64 bit and Vista 32-bit, as all possible ways I have tried do not work, and I can't afford to buy the madmen of... Toshiba recovery media ?

The 'disc Windows 7 from the manufacturer of your laptop upgrade' can be used to improve the qualification system of operating from 32-bit of Windows Vista that was originally installed on the laptop.  It cannot be used for any other configuration or purpose. Carey Frisch

Actually, this isn't just a "upgrade drive" it's a full disc of Windows 7, I know that I can install full Windows 7 32 bit in a separate partition for Vista.

The problem is solved in any case, I managed to hide my Vista (C) install with Acronis and boot to the WIndows 7 DVD. It then allowed me to install Windows 7 64 bit on the other Partition, because he did not think that 32-bit Windows Vista has been installed on the HARD drive. I managed to deceive it by showing the menu options of 32 bits or 64 bits in this way... I assumed it was a protection system put in place by Microsoft to stop upgrade problems if soemone tried upgrade Vista 32, Windows 7 64

Now under Vista 32 and Widnws 7 64 on the same computer.

  • How to publish a free and a paid version of the same application at the same time?

After a few days of struggle, I have made some inroads and have a lite version of my application as a project on the supplier portal that I tested (and it works). I can make now any time be reviewed for publication. But I also have a full version of the same game I want to publish. When I downloaded the zip file with new bar he told me that BB ID is already in use (or something similar).

Has anyone here released a free and a paid version of the same game? Should I get a token using an another BB ID (I just need to do for it)? and then what happens, I'll have to operate from two separate accounts (portal provider) or how it works.

    Any ideas much appreciated.

@jussumman You can and should submit all applications under the account of a vendor.

You receive the error message simply indicates that the Package ID is already in use. In other words, you cannot have the same exact .bar file argued that two separate applications.

    You have two options:

1 submit a free app and have in-app purchases to sell upgrades

    2. use a different package name to the second application.

The package ID is from the appname and signature keys. Since you use the same keys for all applications of signature you must have different package names. This will allow you to present applications separate applications under a single account.
