Installation of WIn XP Pro Satellite P30-130

Hello
I need to install windows XP Professional on a P30-130 Saltellite. Is this possible?
There is full compatibility?

Thank you
Daniele

Hello

As far as I know your device comes with Windows XP Home Edition, but you can install professional at any time. All the drivers, tools and utilities that you have on the CD-ROM of the tools can also be used with professional.

As Tom says check the installations instructions and install all of the components in the order. It is very important.

Good bye

Bluescreens can have different reasons so it s is not easy what causes this problem. Normally, Bluescreen related to drivers or a faulty hardware (RAM or HARD drive).

But have you tried an external monitor now? Maybe the internal monitor is defective if you get a black screen.

  • Question about the installation of Win XP on Satellite Pro P200

    Hello

I have a lot of problems with Vista. First it took me a week to install my printer WiFi. (sollution: install local lpt1 as the printer, change port properties en gives a location network (computer/printername).)
Last problem: vista give no right to copy my USB hd protable with xp files.

Finally, I lost all hope and want to go back to xp.

Is there anyone with experience in the installation of win xp on this laptop. And is it possible to tell me the steps that you have been taken to do so.
Are there concerns as none have some drivers, things that do not work or problems with sata hd.

    Thank you

    Luke

    Hello

It's a difficult topic-> XP on Vista machines.

First: Yes, you can install XP on it because all the important factors are available (VGA, SATA, wireless, XP BIOS, BLUETOOTH) and that should be enough.

Because your computer has a BIOS for Vista (I guess there a) Please install the BIOS XP first and then start the installation of XP. In the case that your HARD drive is not recognized then you need to install the SATA driver during the installation of windows XP. The procedure is described in the statement of the Satellite L40-> XP installation, so if you want to install and problems SATA (HDD, not during the XP installation), you must check the installation instructions for Windows XP for a SATELLITE L40!

If you have additional questions, I recommend allows you to place your question here before doing something that may stop your nerves later. :)

    Welcome them

    Windows Update problem (new)

The following procedure applies in the case of installation (reinstall) Windows 7.  It does not apply to a usual, normal day.

I'm afraid that you will do the reinstall again.  Not a terrible penalty to pay.  Usually takes less than an hour.  Then immediately proceed to the next procedure.   It's strange, but it really does work and many people have proved it.

NEVER install anything other than Windows updates until your system is up-to-date.  Once you have the list update, install all together.  Installation of updates in batches is not expedite the process or do better.

    1. Before you begin to re - install, download (32 or 64 bit) KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance and store on a USB
    2. Start and end the re - install Windows 7 SP1
    3. Before that the newly installed system can go online for the first time, Disconnect the computer from the Internet.  This chronology is essential.
    4. Install KB3083710 and reboot manually.
    5. Install KB3102810 and reboot manually.
    6. Restore the Internet connection, and run Windows Update as usual.
    7. After a few minutes, you should have a lot of updates to download and install.

  • Installation of Win 7 pro on win 7 ultimate

    OK, the first facts:

My friend has a computer that came with Vista installed.

Some time before, she had a problem with the computer and brought it to a repairman.

When she got the computer back everything was in order, but the repairman installed a copy of Win 7 Ultimate instead of Vista.

Everything went well for a while, but yesterday after an update, Windows 7 has been declared as not authentic.

She immediately called the guy who told him that it is not surprising that it had installed a pirated copy.

She now wants to buy a legitimate release of Win 7.

    Now for the questions:

She does not have the ultimate version of Win 7, Win 7 Pro would be better suited for her. Is it possible to downgrade Win 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 Pro without losing all data on the hard drive?

In addition, she still the Vista COA at hand. Then it would be possible to just switch to Win 7 Pro without having to reinstall Vista first?

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to downgrade directly from Windows 7 Ultimate Windows 7 Professional, without modifying the files. You can not downgrade any Windows like the upgrade. THUS, back up all personal files and other files, and then perform a new installation (will erase the partition and install Windows 7 professional fees). You can then restore the files. Note that installed applications/programs should not be backed up because they can be installed after the installation of Windows.
This process requires no installation of Windows Vista. But if you plan to upgrade, rather than clean install of Windows 7 Professional, you must install Windows Vista (new installation) first and then proceed to the upgrade.
Note this upgrade can be made between architectures, i.e., x 86 (32 bit) x 64 (64-bit) or vice versa, even if it's Windows Vista to Windows 7.

Installing a version commercial (street copy) of Windows XP on a Toshiba Vista laptop.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the laptop is a separate version of BIOS for XP and Vista, download and Flash the BIOS on the Vista BIOS XP.

If the installation of XP does not detect the SATA hard drive, simply turn compatibility SATA Mode in BIOS if this option is available.

If this option is not available, you must use the SATA drivers diskette during installation of XP. Follow these steps:

    (1) Download driver Windows XP SATA F6 on the site of Toshiba Support/downloads.
If an individual F6 driver is unavailable, download and uncompress the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver. The Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver package must contain some files under the folder "F6flpy". For example: database ICH7M_32bit for an ICH7 chipset during installation of Windows XP 32-bit.

    (2) copy the files from the driver F6 (iastor.inf, etc.) on a blank diskette. The files must reside in the root directory of the floppy disk. For example, A:\iastor.inf, A:\iaahci.inf, etc...

    (3) use a Toshiba USB floppy drive with the Toshiba laptop. (some non - Toshiba USB Floppy Drives may not work correctly during the installation of XP)

    (4) (4) demarrer start from the Windows XP CD, start the installation and make sure that the disk is inserted in the floppy USB drive.

    (5) for the XP installation invites you to press F6 to install a storage driver, immediately press F6.

    (6) for installing XP you invites to select a SATA driver, select the appropriate driver and continue. For example: ICH7M Intel(r) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller, Intel(r) ICH8M 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller

    (7) keep the attached floppy drive and floppy disk inserted XP has not completed its installation. Do not partition or format the hard drive during the installation of XP. The diskette SATA drivers are copied and stored on the hard drive during the installation of XP.

I want to install Win XP on my laptop, but when I come to the part of the set up to select the disk to install at all I have is a FAT 700 MB drive.

What do need me to let him see all 104 GB SATA HDD and how do I use the program?

    Thank you

    Hello

Windows XP offers a format function in specific SETTINGS.
It asks to format the disk to NTFS.

If you need to format it first!

I assume that you have already installed the SATA driver. Is this good?
Such SATA driver is usually necessary to recognize SATA HDD.

If you don t have an external floppy drive to install the SATA driver, then use nLite free application that would be you can create a new XP CD and include the SATA drivers.

For more details please check this doc from Toshiba:

  • Installation of Win 7 Pro 64-bit on Mac Pro (Intel) with Boot Camp

Trying to install OEM Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a Mac Pro (Intel based computer) using Boot Camp (with Apple OS X 10.6). The installation went well until the system reboots to the CD with the OEM Windows 7 drive in the Bay. At that time there a MS-DOS appears on the screen that looks like this:

    1.

    2.
Select the Startup Type of the CD-ROM:

There is a blinking cursor (line underscore) after the semicolon, but everything I type on the keyboard appears on the screen when the cursor blinks. I use a USB keyboard connected to the computer for the installation, so I know it works. This blocked me.

Is it possible that the OEM version is causing this problem? Can I use a regular full version of Windows 7? Do not spend money to buy, then discover it displays the same screen.

I'll check with both Apple Support, but it seems strange that everything went very well with the installation until the Windows 7 loaded into the Bay. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Are you sure you are using the right drive?

The OEM versions include a disc OPK and the Windows 7 installation disc, make sure you use the right one.

Also, insert the disc, press C on your keyboard and select the Windows 7 disc to boot from it.

  • Installation of Win XP on Satellite P305-S8832

Yesterday, I received a brand new WD SATA HDD 250 GB and a brand new Windows XP Home SP3 CD and I swap the HD of my P305-S8832 and began the Odyssey of the Windows XP installation.

I didn't have all my data on another hard drive, so no risk. I started the Setup in compatibility mode affect the HARD drive and proceeded.

Once the installation is finished, I went to http://downloadcenter.intel.com and tried XP drivers, that I couldn't leave toshiba Download Center (almost all of them I got from Toshiba). Namely video and wireless. His driver has been the most difficult (Conexant Smart Audio 221), I got from HP Download Center after a long google search.

Yes looking first to the template page of Toshiba. These driver not available at toshiba, I got the name correct to each driver installer of dvd of the machine and then searched for everyone either download Toshiba, Intel download or finally Google.

Then I did the entire updating process, installed AVG free antivirus, Firefox 3.5 and Thunderbird, Office, Nero, etc...

    Now the evaluation:

    1. almost everything works. Only FM Radio does not work. I wasn't able to find any XP driver for it. All the work of Fn, lighting of keyboard keys, etc.

    2. as the sata HDD THAT works on compatibility mode, it is a bit slow. I tried everything: defragmentation, triggering the search indexing, moved the pagefile for hard disks. Still a bit slow for applications like burning a DVD on nero.

3 applications work just fine even if they seem to stand a little before you start: Office 2003, Bible Works 6 and 7, Libronix 3 (8.5 GB databases)

    4. I'm looking for a floppy drive external to try to install the sata drivers and then enable the sata HARD drive mode, but I have the sata drivers in the Windows version. I think I need them in DOS version and I did not get them so far. This may make the drive more fast I think.

    5. huge amount of memory free (Machine has 3 GB of DDR2 667 memory). At the start of Vista Home Premium already swallowed 1.3 GB while XP does only 450 MB after the start.

Well, I hope that this could be useful for someone. I look forward to suggestions.

    > I have a Toshiba forum friend we gave me the answer to install the SATA support in this machine under XP, to share the solution:

Very well!! Thanks for sharing this with us!

  • Satellite P30-130: battery stops charging

Problem with my power/charge on my laptop.

Intermittently, when you use the AC adapter to charge the battery, the battery may charge for a time (with bright amber LED) and then (after no moment) the amber light will come out and stop loading. When this happens looking at the battery icon in the desktop tray shows the laptop running on battery power, even if power supply is still attached.

Move the power AC jack in the back of the laptop making makes no difference. It's almost as if the laptop is not recognizing that the AC adapter / CC is there.

To add to the confusion, if I use Notepad on the only current (ie remove the battery completely), the power to randomly stop. It is also intermittent and occurs even if the laptop is not in use.

I checked the power meter settings, and I have the drivers for toshiba utilities to save energy. I also replaced the power supply and the battery.

    Any ideas?
