I think my IE has a virus but not of my scans for virus or malware checks come up with anything. My computer is running VERY slowly, lagging behind, or even on an occasional basis freezes and stops when I'm on the net. Computer function uses only the net works fine until a program I use try to use Windows Explorer. Is there a difference between Explorer Windows and Internet Exporer and is there a way to check this, other than the usual scans. I have McAfee and AVG, as well as malicious software running on a schedule and they are still running in the background, constantly analyzes the sites.

I am at a total loss here. I use secure sites (https rather than just http) when the choice and do not use sites that McAfee or AVG is marked as dangerous. It worries me that I have a lot of things, such a Bank, online and not worry that someone could get information. I recently also maually run the two scan disk and Defrag but they can also be programmed to run on a schedule. The model is NOT saved. When I tried ot create a backup disk, when I first bought the model, something has gone wrong, and he refused to back up then reset would mean a great loss of material. If it's a virus, worm, etc., it is done gradually and I'm not sure that a restart of the plant would be useful it is in IE or Windows Explorer (if there is a difference).

Yes, it is safe to uninstall McAfee.

  • real virus or not?

So I tried to watch a series of TV drama online for free and I clicked on this site and as soon as I clicked it, it came with a system error message saying safari caught a * viruses and I need to call 1800 018 586. It also says that I should not ignore this problem since it can steal my personal information.

Since this is the first time for me to use a mac pc, I'm really scares me and called the number.

It was directed to a lady who helped me to close safari (I didn't know how to do) and she realizes the call to this other guy who told me that I needed to activate the firewall because it was disabled (again once I had no idea what so ever about this) and he then said that the problem is not fixed, and asked me to pay for fixing credit card number and all.

Since I'm only 18 years old and are not own credit card, I said that I don't really have a way to pay for it.

Then he got really fierce and began to tell me all the things hacker can do and which do not. I got bit scared of this guy so I hung up and started looking for what to do when I get error messages on mac system. As I was reading tips of Web sites, I realized that the error system not all messages are actually mac (as it can come from a hacker).

So I would really like to know if this sort of thing is actually real or not, and it would help a lot if someone could help me!

Should not have called this number and enabled a person to access your Mac.

    Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

You can also remove the adware manually by following the steps provided by Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987

After that, make sure that your default search provider is set to the one you always use. To do this, open Safari - Preferences - research.

Go to the Safari menu (at the top right of your screen next to the Apple icon), choose 'Quit Safari'

Press the "Shift" key and while holding this button on your unique keyboard, click the icon of Safari on your Dock.

Open Safari - Preferences - Privacy - data to remove any Web site.

I also believe that it would be a good idea to install AdBlock and contact the Apple Support for assistance.

  • After that the virus can not connect to internet

My computer running Windows XP has been infected by a virus 'Alert system' fake who took over the office and hide all my files. I was able to restart in safe mode, run Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials to capture and remove some viruses. I was also able to display most of my files and desktop programs. (I also tried to do a system restore, but this doesn't seem to work). However, I can not connect to the INternet using Internet Explorer. I reset IE, but I can't always connect. Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
    Operation of the network.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 6.x and 4.8 x

Avast - home - free - 6.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
    Finish those you don't use).
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

  • Operating system is watered by viruses, does not start.

By updating the software on my Toshiba laptop running Windows XP Pro, I hosed my multiple virus. I've been using the free version of AVG Antivirus and he couldn't deal with the problems. The computer does not even start anymore, although I can still access the screen and the multiple boot options before the screen turns off and stays that way. Microsoft will allow a reload of Windows or do I have to buy a new XP installation? Other options that people know? Thanks in advance for your help.

I run a Toshiba Satellite myself, and a few months ago it also refused to start. After trying different methods (including trying to fix it by slaving the hard drive to another computer), I was forced to reformat and install. Fortunately I was able to get the data off (enslavement of the hard drive), but with respect to windows, it depends. If you have the Toshiba installation disc (which I hope you do), it should reinstall and register automatically with Microsoft (no entry necessary on your part). However, if you had the laptop with the software installed, but no copy of Windows was included (or at the very least, the serial code), you're probably going to be GROUND. If you have the serial code and are the user registered for this number, you simply give Microsoft a call after you install so they can register as your new computer (or more precisely, your old computer with a new o/s and so new IP) now uses this serial number. I hope this helps. :)

    Hello

What happens if you try to download using Internet Explorer?

Here are a few reasons why you may receive the message:

    • Malware: If your computer is infected by malware, it can cause your download fails.
    • Malfunctions antivirus software: some antivirus programs support the analysis on access of files. If you have control over access, and it is enabled, disable download scanning temporarily until resolve you the problem with your antivirus software.
