Issue of network redundancy

Hi guys,.

Just a quick question/precision.

On the ESX hosts in our environment, all hosts have 8 physical network interface cards.

The way in which we have our network configuration is that the IP subnet that the Service Console runs on (10.9.8.X) is also our internal network IP subnet.

The way I have my setup of the guests is with two physical network adapters on this network goes into the same virtual switch.  For the Service Console, the network adapters are configured as active / standby.  For the internal network, they are configured as active/active.

What is the correct/preferred way to set this up not only for the Service Console redundancy, but also to have NIC teaming to achieve a greater bandwidth on our network inside?  Or should I try to use some of the other empty NIC ports to finish to remove the Service Console of this IP subnet?

James

It is good to have 8 ports.

A good way to implement an ESX Server is as follows.

3 ports for network of VM and the Service Console, put them on the same vSwitch and configure the vlan trunking.

2 port for vMotion (preferabbly on a separate vlan or a network)

3 ports for IP storage, iSCSI/NFS

I would use teaming on each vSwitch (static LACP)

I do not know what type of storage going you...  The above is a good and redundant installation.

  • That errro again... host currently has no error management network redundancy

I don't get the "host currently has no error management network redundancy.

I think that I have the correct configuration, but not sure since our network guys gave me the IP addresses to use for HA.

Here is the config for HA

    ESX Server 6.

Service console is on 0 to 172.16.1.106 in 255.255.0.0 vSwitch

The second redundancy console) is on vSwitch 4 to 77.77.77.10 in 255.255.255.0.

    ESX Server 5.

Service console is on vSwitch 4 to 172.16.1.105 in 255.255.0.0

The second redundancy console) is on vSwitch 4 to 77.77.77.9 in 255.255.255.0.

I've reconfigured HA on ESX Server 6 and ESX Server 5 and even restarted them but still not the mistake of redundancy...

    Something is not properly configured?

If the collection of network adapters offer the same functions of redundancy, so why so many articles point to using a second console HA redundancy?

It's simply the options given. There are several ways to provide a redundancy of HA heartbeat.

The article also indicates HA advanced features such as das.isolationaddress2 and das.failuredetectiontime will be charged when you set up a secondary service console. It is an approach more effective, but still more complicated?

These advanced options are not always available and also provide another way to configure HA redunancy.

  • Create alarm "Network redundancy lost" by the script?

    Hello:

I'm trying to write a script that will create the alarm in order to monitor the redundancy of the lost network (I know manually there) on the host.

I know how to create alarm for additional exhibit the ' basic' event (LucD - thank you for your help) and I know that I have for alarm 'Lost network redundancy' to use 'vprob.net.redundancy.lost' instead of 'EnteringMaintenanceModeEvent' (as in my example); but I still struggle to combine...

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you

    qwert

I don't have a particular script fantasy with the settings and all the rest, but I can show you the steps to filter alarms by name and remove the desired one.

    alarm #retrieve Manager

    $alarmManager = get-view-Id "AlarmManager-AlarmManager.

#Get the entity that contains the alarm that you want to remove. I'll do it for a virtual machine

    $entityView = get-Vm-name MyVm | Get-View

    #get all MoRefs alarm

    $alarmMoRefList = $alarmManager.GetAlarm($entityView.MoRef)

#Retrieve tha alarm views from the MoRefs

    $alarmViewList = $alarmMoRefList | foreach (Get-view $_)

    #Now filter the name alrams

    $alarmToDelete = $alarmViewList | where {$_.Info.Name - eq "AlarmToDelete"}

    #Finally remove alarms

    $alarmToDelete.RemoveAlarm)

It shouldn't be hard to put this in a script or function reussable. If you have problems with this, I'll be happy to help you again!

  • How to disable the alarm management of network redundancy

    Hello

Could you please tell me how to disable the alarm of redundancy of management network.

    concerning

    Surya

Add the following parameter and the value true in AP advanced options:

    das.ignoreRedundantNetWarning

Once done do a reconfigure for HA on the ESX servers and it will not display the warning.

One thing to note is that it is not advisable to set this parameter.  To correctly resolve the issue so that the warning is not displayed, add a second card NETWORK in the vSwitch console or a second management network.

    See you soon,.

  • LaserJet M1536 printing and scanning Issues (cable network)

    Good,

So I have a LaserJet M1536 I installed the drivers on my computer to WIndows 7 (64-bit). It worked fine for printing until last night and I can't for the life of me it works again.

I have the computer plugged into the network, and it worked until I tried to scan a document. It would not work, and then after that nothing would print. The e-print on a mobile device will work but not from my windows machine. I tried to run the doctore scan and it says everything is working.

I then uninstalled the drivers and I downloaded the latest version of the HP technical support.  Still doesn't solve it.

After that, I have disabled the firewall on the computer (the windows firewall and the firewall that comes with my suite Norton anti-virus. Still no luck.

I restarted the printer, my PC, my network (modem and router) several times.

Is someone can you please help me solve my problem, because it is really holds my productivity and I spend a lot of time on this issue.

What I am doing wrong? The only thing I have not tried is assign a static IP address to the printer.

Thanks for letting me know TFroehlichIII.

What type of router you use, or you use a server like the one mentioned post?

When you add the printer port, must be a TCP/IP port.

I have a few other things you can try.

Power cycle the router, restart the computer, then on the printer.

Check the IP address, to ensure that it is the same thing.

Then run the Add Printer Wizard.

You can always restore your computer to an earlier era where everything was working properly. It could be a Windows Update or a router that has caused this problem.

    For Windows 7 system restore.

How to refresh, reset or restore your PC on Windows 8.

If the problem persists, I recommend to call the HP Technical Support for assistance. They can remotely to your computer and see more of what's going on. Call the 800-474-6836. Normally, when die NIC 1, we have netword redundancy. But this time, time 2 die of network card in a standard switch in a 5.1 ESXi host-> that is why, many network down-> affect to multiple virtual machines. There is only avaible network management yet.

  • alert the uplink network redundancy lost

VCenter has an uplink lost redundancy alert network, which takes about 5 days. The alert cannot be recognized or green value, because the option is grayed out. VCenter client does not show the cards down. A few questions

-How can the alert being erased?

-Where should I look for the question? I checked the network adapters on the host's configuration in vcenter client. Where would be ESXI connect alerts for this problem?

It's vCenter.  Alarms are sometimes "buggy".

  • iSCSI multipath vs network redundancy?

If I have a redundant network, say a VMkernel port on a vSwitch with two VMnic, maybe Port ID load balancing and the two vmnic goes to two different physical switches and there are redundant links on all switches between the ESXi host and iSCSI SAN and it is Rapid Spanning Tree set up, and there is a kind of Etherchannel / Link aggregation on the iSCSI Server , but only a single IP address...

Is there an advantage to configuring iSCSI multipath and let the VMkernel manage failover, rather than let the network itself, make sure that there is a path between the host and the target?

Primary storage provider use several IP for storage NIC (in some cases two different networks).

With the VMware multichannel modules, you are limited to only one path (at that moment) to a LUN, but the seller might have is multichannel modules, or of course, you can use LUN more have used more of paths.

Bandwidth could be interesting with several virtual machines... or I/O loads.

  • 4 issue of NETWORK card configuration

    Hi all

So now all of my ESX servers have 4 NETWORK cards and are all connected to the store shared via fiber connections.  My current setup is as such.

    pNic0 - & gt; vSwitch0 - & gt; Portgroup0 - & gt; (Service Console)

    pNic1 - & gt; vSwitch0 - & gt; Portgroup1 - & gt; (Vmkernal for Vmotion)

    pNic2 - & gt; vSwitch1 - & gt; Portgroup2 - & gt; (The Vm network - runoff of all VM group of port)

    pNic3 - & gt; vSwitch1 - & gt; Portgroup2 - & gt; (Same VM network as pNic2)

It would be more benifical for redundancy and performance if I put it to the top in this way rather:

    pNic0 - & gt; vSwitch0 - & gt; Portgroup0 - & gt; (Service Console)

    pNic1 - & gt; vSwitch0 - & gt; Portgroup1 - & gt; (Vmkernal for Vmotion)

    pNic2 - & gt; vSwitch1 - & gt; Portgroup2 - & gt; (The Vm network)

    pNic3 - & gt; vSwitch1 - & gt; Portgroup3 - & gt; (The Vm network)

and pNic0 configuration of failover for Teddy portgroup1 while pNIC1 is the failover of Teddy portgroup0, then leave 1 default port id base vswitch failover load balacning.

Here's how we do are 4 NIC configurations

    vSwitch0:

    Service Console - vmnic0 (vmnic2 is a stanby)

    vMotion - vmnic2 (vmnic0 is a watch)

    vSwitch1:

Machine Virtual Port Group - vmnic 1 and 4 (the two active)

Load balancing based on the original virtual port code

  • How to create a network redundant ISP failover using 2 Airport Extreme

    Hello friends,

I have 2 different lines of rented ISP related to my Airport Extreme 2. Was curious to know if these 2 AEs can be interconnected somehow to create a network of ISP failover. Users on AE 1 traffic would be transparent reassigned to the AE 2 and vice versa, if corresponding ISP fails. When the access provider is in place, they will return to their AE in elementary school.

    Thank you.

Not without a smart dual wan router. That is to say done good load sharing.

Extreme is about as simple a router you can find... He has the absolute minimum of functionality.

Users on AE 1 traffic would be reassigned transparent to the AE 2 and vice versa

You can do this by using some manual intervention... a simple change of entry door is usually sufficient.

  • Domestic issue of networking

Both of my computers are running Windows XP and are both on my home network through a Linksys router.  The router is connected by cable to my desktop and my other computer which is a portable computer is connected to the wireless network.  Regarding the connection to the internet through the router, both computers work fine. The problem I have is strictly networking that my office is able to connect to my laptop but my laptop cannot connect to the desktop computer.  My office, I am able to access the shared files on my laptop, but not vice versa.  When I try to access my desktop to my laptop I get this error message"\\dell8200 is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have the permission to access.  The network address is not valid.  I tried to change the name of the fo office computer but still nothing works.  I checked and both computers use the same workgroup, which incidentally is obvious by the fact that the laptop is visible on the desktop.   My question is how can I solve this problem?

Thank you for your attention and I'm waiting for your expertise.  CGW

If you try to access a Windows XP home computer make sure that the guest account is enabled on the XP Home computer.  If this isn't the problem, try here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281248

Hi Malharsire and thanks for posting!

First of all you can try disabling IPv6 on your PC.

    To do this:

    1. Start > Control Panel > view network status and tasks (under network and Internet)
    2. Has chosen to manage network connections in the left menu
    3. Right-click on Local area connection and select Properties
    4. In the pop up box, uncheck the following:
      • Internt Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
    5. Click OK, and then RESTART your computer

    I hope this helps!

  • HP OfficeJet 6700 - issues of networking after computers changed from cable wireless...

We have changed our whole yesterday and left two computers (a Mac and a Windows 7 PC) be wireless to connect to the router.  The installation of the printer has not changed (it is set up wireless for everything).  The Mac has had no problem finding the printer and print as usual.  The PC was not able to print from.  It shows the printer as a faded option.  Print jobs that were sent in the print queue, but does not print.  I downloaded and used the doctor printing & scanning HP, including the wizard on the printer wireless, but have failed to get the connection works.  I appreciate any help you can offer.  Also, I apologize if I'm wrong at all since this is my first post and first visit to this forum.  Thank you!

So if the Mac can see and print to the printer, which indicates that it is connected to your router OK.

So, on the PC, go to start > Control Panel > devices and printers and delete the printer.

Then, add the printer with this method:

    1. make sure the printer is on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by accessing its IP address before continuing. Get his IP address for a network Test printed on the front of the printer.

    2. click on > start > Control Panel > devices & Printers.
    3. click on add a printer
    4. Select local printer
    5. Select create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port, and click Next.
    6. under device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under the name of host or IP address, enter the IP address of the printer. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard in the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model is not in the list, then select disk provided, browse the CD that came with your HP printer and select the first file begins with hp and ending with INF. click Open, then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If prompted, use the driver that is currently installed.
    9. He will ask the name of the printer - enter a new name or use the one existing. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. we may ask you to share the printer. Choose No.
    11. the printing area of Test Page is displayed. Go ahead and print it out.
    12. click on finish.
