  On the cable USB runs that came with my Clip + there is a small dongle in the Middle, more near the mini usb plug. Is it a fuse? Is how important it? I noticed a lot of people say they have used any old random other USB cable without problem on the Sansa Clips. But it seems atypical of a USB cable to get a dongle/fuse in the middle like that.   Fine to use other cables USB with the Clip; fine to use the USB cable with other devices.  The dongle is supposed to help clean up the signals.  Here is some information I found; others will have probably more.

  Ferrite cores are used around cables for electromagnetic interference (EMI)
  deletion. They reduce foreign currents in the wires produced by
  Grand, near radiofrequency fields as radio AM, TV transmitters
  transmitters, radio amateur, edge radio, etc. These currents, while
  generally not strong enough to cause damage, can disrupt the sensitive circuits
  computers or devices causing data errors. Use of these cores will be
  no effect on the transfer of the desired data from the camera to the computer
  via the universal serial (USB) Bus.

  We show USB dongle to the VM server and tries to install the ASPENTECH software.

  Licensing configuration files are present in the USB dongle, it acquires during the installation of products ASPENTECH.

  But the server does not detect the USB dongle.

  I have a Dell XPS L702X running on Windows 7 Professional.  When I connect it to my Dell U2312HM monitor (using the USB cable), does not recognize it at all.  My monitor has a mistake about it, saying: now the VGA cable.  When I try to select the input Source, USB isn't even an option.  I tried to change the ports on my laptop, reboot with the connected monitor, making sure that all the cables are properly inserted.  Nothing seems to work.  Any help would be great.

  You've lost me. You try to send a laptop computer VIDEO signal in the monitor through a USB cable? If so, it will not work. USB upstream cable connects from the monitor to the computer to activate the USB ports monitor downstream. To get the video from the laptop to the display, you must connect the VGA, DVI or DP of the monitor cable to the laptop.
