LAN is Unplugged

Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop using, IE 8, Windows XP Professional, computer is on a network

Whenever I try to connect to the internet, he says I am 'offline '. I uncheck in offline mode in tools and in the file. It keeps coming back to 'in offline mode. The LAN icon that it is unplugged.
Results of diagnosis of Windows for XP
Network Adapter Status - status of the network connection: media disconnected
HTTP, HTTPS, connectivity FTS: HTTP: error 12007 connecting to www.microsoft.com: the server name or address cannot be resolved.
Network location awareness and network adapter ID are both correct.
I tried several suggestions on the internet, but none solved the problem. I have no idea as to what else to do or try to fix this connection.  In the meantime, I look forward to your suggestions and help. Thank you. John

@ John

Regarding the Working Offline symptom, my guess is that you have another software that is intercepting a command prompt and in responding to default from the command prompt, which unfortunately is offline.   There is still a low probability that the guest is can naturually cause but do not then seen that any entry you take is interpreted as choose the guest work offline option but there is no other way that he might happen as always as you seem to be implying IMO.

So, have you tried to make a start in safe mode with networking?   In this way, you could at least see the command prompt, understand how it causes your symptoms and respond manually one way or the other.

Probably this part of your symptoms will disappear as soon as you get your major fixed network problems, so this is the right forum to do so.

However, I think you should describe your network configuration.   For example what you see may explain the presence of a wireless router that connected locally before had established an Internet connection through the modem.   The address of the router is what you would see your DNS address but he wouldn't able to provide search services until the rest of the connection has been made.

If this scenario describes yours, instead of trying to connect to the Internet immediately, try to connect to the router to use its diagnostics to check whether there is a connection to the Internet, for example to use his address in an address bar of IE.    Then you can go back to a window cmd and do the checks for DNS connectivity, by example of ipconfig/all and nslookup ping.   Then only you would try do something remotely with your browser (for example something requiring a reverse DNS lookup) and thus avoid the symptom of Working Offline.

I normally answer questions in the forum, IE and noticed your message while he was there, so I answer here now in any case.

    Take it easy...

Go into your BIOS, then the menu of device configuration, modify the LAN/WLAN, transition from active to disabled. Save the setting it by hitting the F10 key and again when you go out.

The two are now on at the same time.

  • Windows 7 machines gel after March 2015 security updates

Anyone know which ones need to be removed to make these machines can be used again?

    Hi Henk,

    Sorry for the late reply.

I understand that when you connect the LAN, you will find an IME by default process starting and multiplying automatically in Manager tasks, but these process ends when the LAN is unplugged.

To better understand the issue, please send us the following information:

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer, you are facing problems with?
    2. You did it all changes to the computer before this problem (apart from the installation of the updates)?
    3. You see these processes running when connected to Wi - Fi?

As the issue you described does occur during the connection to the internet, so this could be another process that uses your Internet connection.

You have correctly described what an IME is however default IME is not the process that he uses and this problem could occur due to a malware infection.

I have really no idea what is the problem and I would really appreciate the help, I hope that there is enough information here for you guys if there is not I always go here try to solve the problem in any way, so I'll be able to answer.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 3015sa, I lived with the laptop problems so I decided to reinstal Windows 7 using a CD for my old Dell laptop, the recovery has also been removed. Everything outside the internet works fine.

On the wireless icon on the lower right corner of the screen, it says "no connection available.

The NICs listed in the Device Manager are:

    "Device Bluetooth (personal area network).

"Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI section)"

    "D Realtek RTL8168D/8111 Family PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).

If I click on Network and Sharing Center-> set a new connection or a network-> to connect to the Internet... He said: I cannot connect to broadband (PPPoE).

On the network connections, it says that my Bluetooth network connection is "not connected" and the connection to the LAN 'Cable unplugged network' for D Realtek RTL8168D/8111 Family PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet.

    Hello

    I have no general solution, but I'll try to give some advice solution;
If you want to connect laptop with LAN cable both please make sure that you use a crossover ethernet cable.
In addition, check if the network card is properly recognized in Device Manager.

You could try updating the LAN driver and remove the NIC in Device Manager to update the installed driver.
After restarting again the operating system should recognize the new (Lan) device and should install it automatically.

Unplug the cable LAN and switch ON the WLan.

  • Satellite Pro C850 - strange problem with LAN connection

    Hello world

I just signed up on this forum because I hope you guys can help me with a really strange problem.

    I recently bought a Satellite Pro C850-1MX
It came with Win8, but given that I don't really like Win8, I bought an additional Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) license and installed on the laptop.

The problem I describe, also arrived on 8 to win, which makes it even more strange.

As soon as I connect a cable to the RJ-45 port, Windows tells me, that the LAN connection is not connected.
As soon as I unplug the cable, Windows starts looking for a network and actually found one!

So, the only way to connect to my LAN cable is... I have activate the LAN connection, wait that it detects a network (without the cable connected!) and meanwhile to connect the cable to the network port.
Now... If I disconnect the cable once again, Windows still shows its connected.

I must say, that I am a Director of professional network for more than 10 years now, so I should know my systems, but this never happened to me before. Event log shows nothing, re-installing drivers did nothing either. IM quite confused here and I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks for reading, and let me know if you need any additional info!

    Greetings from the Germany,
    Sandro

    Hello Sandro,

To be honest I confused m.

I would try to start talking about the drivers installed, since you changed the system for Win 7.
All the network devices, such as card WLan and LAN card are properly recognized in Device Manager?

As I m not wrong not the laptop was equipped with a network card Realtek-8111F (1000BASE-T/100Base-TX/10Base-T) and WLan RTL8723AE Realtek b/g/n card.
If both should appear in the device properly Manager if you have installed the drivers correctly.

    2nd question:
    You said:
    > As soon as I unplug the cable, Windows starts looking for a network and actually found one!
Are you sure that you speak of LAN and WLAN?
For me it made no further since. If the network cable is unplugged, the notebook would connect to the WLan where WiFi is enabled.

  • Portege M800-108 - LAN does not

    Hello all :)

First of all, I'll post my information system
Portege' M800-108 Windows Vista 32-bit Service Pack 1, with all the latest updates
Router DLink DSL G624T no DHCP

I got my laptop connected to my router this morning with LAN cable, and everything worked great. When I returned home, I connected the laptop to the router and the LAN was not working. The LED on the router would be clear ON and then turn off and then ON and OFF again, as if the PC is looking for a connection.
I used all of the 4 ports on the router, I've used different cables and the problem is still there.
The LAN driver is the most recent available.
WLAN works very well on the contrary.

Any suggestion? Is this a HW problem?

    TNX a lot.

You said that the s light will light up and then move offshore, on and outside.
This happens on all 4 ports?

Normally, when this happens on a router or a switch which means that the router is defective.
    But you can try this:
Unplug the router AC adapter. Wait at least 1-2 minutes and plug it back on again once.
Maybe the router is working properly, and if not, you should change.

  • Startup gets "Network cable unplugged" on mini-PCI Wireless card

I recently installed a Netgear DG834GT wireless router and now have intermittent problems connecting my Tecra 9100. If the 9100 has been off for awhile (like overnight), when I restart I get always "Network cable unplugged" for the wireless connection. Reboot several times (anything from 3 upwards) I finally get connected to the router and everything then works fine for hours. Even a quick restart at this point (that is, once that the wireless adapter is connected) does not cause a problem, but as soon as I leave the stop of the machine during a time he fails again on restart.

There are no errors in the event log.

I am using wireless mini-PCI cards and have already updated to the latest version of the driver.

Any ideas gratefully received, for now every morning is a 20 to 30 minutes of rebooting frustration trying to get my connection work.

    (Running Win2K professional)

    Hello

As far as I know, the unplugged network cable message just for LAN (Local Area connection-LAN) and not wireless.

If you want to check this map to disable LAN in Device Manager. After starting the laptop turn on the wireless card, check the status using the FN + F8 key combination. Wi - Fi is activated after a short time, you should be able to use your wireless network.

You can enable the option Show icon in notification area when connected. You can find it in the properties of wireless under the general tab.

If I turn off the laptop, unplug the cable and turn it on, it starts, but the network card is more installed.
I already downloaded the driver from Realtek for Vista 32 bits from the website, but no difference.

In fact, the driver is not recognized as being a good driver for the device. I select the driver manually in a list (using have disk etc..) to get installed it. After the re-setup all the parameters of the network card in Vista or disappeared, always on dhcp.

I already had a blue screen (vista dump), during the installation of the device.

I tried to update the bios to the latest version, she too successful (not), but it did not solve my problem.

    Any ideas?
    hardware failure?
I guess that's not possible the device lan switch?

    Hello

I read a lot of stories here, but yours is really amazing. I don't know what the problem is here, but try to enter the BIOS settings and set it to the default value. After doing this install OS using recovery media.

Now that you must clean preinstalled OS and your laptop will have factory settings. Please retest the functionality of network card. If the problem persists, you need professional help.

  • Satellite X 200: Vista can't to the internet via a LAN network cable

    Hello.

A month ago, I bought my Toshoba Satellite X 200.
Everything worked fine until 3 days ago. I had been downloading over night and when I came home from work it was still downloading but I couldn't visit our Web site, or I could write about messenger, but I put online...

If I'm looking for in what Messenger is the problem it says that there is a problem with the gateway can I fix this and the following problem is DNS and main ports... If I use windows own tool for the research of the reason is that it cannot communicate with the server dns tha. If I try to log in on the wireless, there is no problem and my friends can easily use my internet but I can't.

I can see also all other computers on the network. I think I have almost tried everything... Hope you guys can help me

It's a very strange question! You can use the LAN connection when the WIFI network is disabled?

  • Not always have connectivity LAN on my Satellite A300D

    Hello

I have a problem on my new Toshiba Satellite A300D-168 and cannot find a solution, that's why I'm asking for help in the official Forum of Toshiba.

    Brief explanation of the problem:
Whenever I plug the cable into the Marvell Yukon 88E8040T PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Socket I can observe how the line under the area of network connectivity (it's "Netzwerkverbindung" in German, I don't know the exact equivalent on English Vista systems) switches beetween 'enabled' and "network cable has been removed" (again once I do not know the English equivalent but in German It's "Aktiviert" and "Netzwerkkabel wurde removed"). It happens every second. It is like a branch and unplug the cable all the time. As a result, fires, taking green flash every second, then they disappeared again (no green light constant).
Logically, it is impossible to get a connection network because of this problem.
I tried everything and I search everywhere but I can't find a solution.

I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit, it's no firewall problem, no cable (I tried 6 cables, who work on other machines), no router problem (because I do not have a router ;)) and I got the latest driver version (even tried more old - same problem).)

    Any ideas? :(

    Thanks in advance,

    dot.

PS: Excuse my bad English, I'm obviously out of practice ;)

If this question doesn't show up under Vista OS the problem must be related to the software.

Try to update the driver LAN and update Windows XP to the last State. I mean that all Windows XP patches and hotfixes must be installed to ensure the good condition of the market.

Finally go to the Device Manager and go to LAN card properties.
There, you must disable the saving option and take a look in the Advanced tab.

Here, you can also disable power options and play around with more parameters.

  • Said airport Time Capsule LAN Ethernet cables disconnected, but they are all connected

We have a Time Capsule airport 2nd generation connected to a Comcast Modem for Internet service. Our network is suddenly saying that the LAN Ethernet does not work because a cable is unplugged. However, I checked all the cables and connections. I disconnected all devices and then only plugged my Mac a to. A continuous Wi - Fi connection to work but not the Ethernet LAN. I tried to use another LAN cable. He also said that a cable is unplugged. We need the Ethernet LAN to access high-speed Internet and I tried everything and can not operate. The Ethernet LAN has been upward and years of work. If the Capsule or the Comcast Modem was defective, we would not have Wi - Fi access to the Internet, but we do. Material preferences network has always been implemented are configured automatically. However, the speed is now empty display instead of speed. If I change the settings to manually set up the material, I am still unable to set the speed manually, because when I try to select the up-down arrows next to the speed, nothing happens. It's as if the speed setting has been disabled. It's so frustrating. And I have no idea how to fix this.

If you have not already completed a power cycle full of your network, now would be a good time to do this.

Turning off all network devices in any order you want

    Wait a minute

Turn on the modem first and leave 2-3 minutes, he managed by itself

Switch on the device connected to the modem and leaves turn a good minute

Keep power devices one at a time about a minute out until the entire network is back

    Check the network

Why you n t disconnect the mouse USB first and then put the laptop mode ensures?
That would solve your problem ;)

To my knowledge, the BIOS provides only the options: wake on LAN, wake-up keyboard.
There is no options for Wake up on USB and so cannot change these settings...
