I just can't take more.  Since the first day, this laptop has been poor performance.  Hang in there too.  Takes forever to open a program or a browser.  Anytime you click anywhere, the blue spinssssssssssssss circle.

How can I reformat to factory settings if I do not all discs?  I don't think this will fix the issue because it was so out of the box.  I tried so many different things to boost performance (updated touchpad driver, updating the bios, remove the starting applications, etc.) but it does not matter.  I was going to upgrade the RAM 8 GB / 3GB, but I don't think that it should be considered to prevent him from hanging.

Just want to go back to factory settings and re - assess.

    Thank you.

    @Barbenae ,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.

With a laptop computer hooked up here there's several reasons for this.

Have you cleaned your laptop to reduce the accumulation of things on the heatsinks and fans for the laptop can be cooled?

Have set you your system power settings?

Did you run the diagnostics of hardware BIOS to see if it is a RAM problem or hard drive?

If this is not the case, here are a few links to check.

Regarding the recovery of the system, there is a link on how to do so.

  • Computer HP laptop freezes constantly

I tried to restore points, startup repair, boot in SafeMode... nothing works. Sometimes, I get a few minutes of use until it freezes, sometimes referees during startup. I can't identify an event that started this, but a Java Update appears to be a possibility.

    Hello

501 error code is a failure of the complete (full) disk Self Test (DST) and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  It is also compatible with the issue of 'freeze' you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

    Kind regards

You can turn off the automatic updates, Yes, but doing so would leave your computer at risk. Simply put with him: after another reboot or two, you will be fully patched AND fix!

Original title: Vista to Win 7 to win 10

I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed.  My plan is to install Win 7 and then move on to Win 10.  I have a new full version of Windows 7 Pro SP1 with an activation key.  I have experience update to Win 10 of Win 7, but worry about the installation of Win 7 over Vista.  I guess I have to do a clean install.  There is no problem to meet the minimum requirements of 10.  Can someone give me some advice on the start-up of the conversion of Win 7?  Just insert the disk?  Everything has been backed up and it's ready to go!  Thank you.

Since the family migration to Windows Vista Premium to Windows 7 Professional it will install a clean place, why not simply use your Windows 7 Professional product key to perform a custom Windows 10 Pro install from the go?

  • Tecra A8-ez8512 freezes on the splash screen after installing Win XP

Hi guys, this is my first post!

I recently had an opportunity Tecra A8-ez8512 as a gift that had Vista Business installed (and works perfectly!). As a passionate XP user, I quickly decided to format the WHOLE hard drive and then install XP Pro SP2.

After the format was successful and cleaned the entire hard drive, I put my xp cd in the drive and rebooted the laptop ready to select the boot cd.

But now it crashes right on the home screen with no small slider under ratings to select a boot device. I pressed on the key board, but nothing happens.

How you format the HARD drive without the use of the Win XP disc?

    -----------------------

Please note that Windows 7 Release Candidate is a preliminary version of Windows and should not have has been used as a release candidate.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

    Hello

Yes, it should work. Support/drivers for you particular model to check and see if they offer XP drivers and then you are good to go.

    Good luck.

  • Satellite L50 - A - 1 d 5 - can't install Win 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)

    Hi guys.

Very strange problem when I try to install win 7.
I changed the bios to start from the cd and it works great.

After that the windows 7 installed to finish, reset the laptop and when the witness appears it is just Windows 7 freeze. (keep moving but nothing happened).

I already tried 3 versions of windows 7 and still the same problem.
I also use Capitol via Hiren and I cleaned the hard drive and installed again but... the same due problen.

    any suggestions?
    Thank you very much

What BIOS settings you changed exactly?
Usually, you will need to disable secure boot and have spend the the CSM UEFI boot mode.

By the way: have you used the Microsoft original own installation CD to install the system, or have you used a backup for the installation of the OS image?

  • Possible to install Win 8 of recovery in Legacy Bios mode discs?

Is it possible to install Win 8 of recovery disks in Legacy Bios instead of UEFI mode, as it comes with?

Or will install it automatically use UEFI mode and configure start secure even if your bios is set to Legacy Bios installation mode for Windows 8?

    In addition,

If I install a clean copy of windows 8 from the official Microsoft Windows 8 Core RTM dvd (same version as my system) and it detects and accepts the built in Win 8 product key and key of CD which is built in my Bios and it activates as valid installation and activeted - this void my warranty?

(It's the same exact Windows version and license I paid HP for except it has not added recovery partition or software of HP so I don't think he would cancel warranty... especially since installation has accepted the built in bios keys - but is this correct?)

Don't know everything if the recovery will install in legacy mode, try and see.

Install a different copy of the same version do not cancel the warranty. However sometimes HP will require you to reinstall OS original to avoid the possibility of problems or if you need warranty service. Don't forget to burn your defined recovery disk before destroying the origianl OS.

You can also find it advantageous to burn them to dvd or save to hard drive USB external your C:\SwSetup file with drivers and software provided on the original laptop. Save a lot of time to download on another computer and transfer it later.

  • M7-K010DX: can I replace pre-installed Win 8.1/64 with Win 7 Pro/64?

I'm considering buying a laptop M7 HP Touchsmart - K010DX want to Best Buy who has Win 8.1/64 pre-installed.  This model allow me to install Win 7 Pro/64 instead (assuming that I'll buy the appropriate media/license)?

Best Buy guy explained that all of the processors now contain a basic Win 8, so they can always starts when the primary HD fails.  He said that the use of this built-in Win 8 must be disabled before installing a different operating system, and he said that not all machines you allow to do.

I hope as the M7-K010DX allows... is perhaps likely since HP Driver Support page lists the Win 7 and 8.1 as possible O.S..

    Can anyone confirm this?

    Thank you... Jay

    Hi, Jay:

Here is the link to the service manual for your model.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04409752.PDF

    You are right.

Remove the hard drive is not for the faint of heart, and so much so, the warranty will be cancelled if you do.

It is a task of "authorized service provider.

The procedure to remove the HARD drive are in Chapter 6 beginning on page 66.

Most models allow easy removal of the hard drive, but some don't, and I guess yours is one of them.

    Best regards

    Paul
