Laptop screen orientation from landscape to A4, I moved the cursor on the screen. Laptop computer now starts in A4 direction too. Help!

Note: I use my old desktop PC (Windows XP) for you to explain the problem with my laptop (Windows 7).

Problem:

The last thing I did on my laptop did was move the cursor when, suddenly, the screen image went from landscape (which is the normal display) to A4 (i.e. through 90 degrees).  I must add that due to a health problem I lost some feeling in my hands a fingers which does not help when I press the button and move the slider. Therefore, it is more likely that I inadvertently changed the orientation of the screen somehow.

There was no notice given on the screen to change.

I shut down the computer, waited a few minutes and started again.  The orientation of the wrong screen reappears.

As I am not a COMPUTER buff, by any stretch of the imagination, I don't know how to provide you with a screenshot if you need.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Derek

    Hello

    The error code will be a Smart failure or disk Self Test - in both cases, this would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the question of commissioning.

    If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

    If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

    If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • Laptop computer does start, no screen, no hard drive, no fan

    I've been looking around, but I can't find a solution to this problem anywhere.  I have a HP pavilion DV 2000 series.  When I push the power button all the lights above the keyboard lights (control Volume, play, rewind, fast forward, ect) and the power (solid) indicator.  But that's all that happens.

    The screen does not light, the hard drive does not turn, the fan power not on.  The computer won't go to sleep mode when closed.

    I tried the technique of hard reset with the power button several times with no results.  There are no flashing lights and no beep of any kind.

    If anyone knows a solution please help.

    This is the model. This is the second generation dv2000s (higher number of dv2500). Those who are less likely to have problems with motherboard, have never called back. However, they have indeed questions similar to earlier models, so I'm fairly certain that you have a very dead motherboard caused by a bad video chip again. My advice is still standing. If you want to try to fix it, I can give you some advice, however.

  • 6735 laptop computer s starts all of a sudden?

    The habit of my laptop starts and if I keep the voltage, the power supply light is plugged is no nothing when I try on just using the battery the power light turns on for a few seconds then turns off and the power supply blinks if I plug remains lit in orange, if I remove the battery and try just sector nothing happens. I am more appalled I just write a cheque of guarantee and it is exhausted, a few weeks, what frustrates me because I got it for Christmas last year (END OF 2008), he missed late 2009 and we are a few days only in 2010, it's really sad that the timming couldn't be worse, as if he was aged 3 years or something I could eat better but its literally a year and a couple of weeks, it cost me an arm and a leg and I don't really know what to do, so any help would be very appreciated not only as I need to use it but all my work is on its hard disk (which I had failed to back up as no warning on this failure) HELP please... I then found this by Googling only not by trawling the forums I did for hours on the HP Web site, suggestion more far to the bottom of the about page to remove the battery and the ac power and cable holding the button for 15 seconds worked so I am sharing this with all of you who have similar problems... • Permissions do not update every time that a user moves a file from one folder to another in the Windows XP computer.

    Original title: folder permissions to move or copy.

    I have a problem that I'm sure has a simple explanation but I don't know.  I have a folder in the tree that whenever a user moves a file from one folder to another, the permissions do not update.  Yet if a user copies the folder to the same location, permissions to update as expected.  This only happens with XP.  If I try with Win 7, if the user moves or copies, update permissions.

    Has anyone seen this or have an explanation?

  • Damn Firefox updated from my old version and remove the toolbar google without even asking. Arrgh! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

    I use an old version of Firefox - don't know that - but it suits my modest must be perfectly. Why do I need a change? Firefox is not aware of my needs and apparently neither respect them! Arrgh!

    Thanks for the heads up madperson. Also, my virus program reminded that FF4 was vulnerable. I tried googlebar lite I fear proved too 'lite' for my needs - spellcheck, translate etc. I downloaded 4 because it supports the googlebar - later versions of FF it also support?

  • Direct print from laptop computer connection

    I have a laptop HP with windows 7 32 bit and the designjet 650 c B model with an installed direct jet card, so I a usb converter cable network I want to print from a usb port or from the port of network cable. I just want to know what is called the port that I use? Help, please!

    You have a wireless router?  I have a Designjet 650 c connected to my router with a LAN cable, can I access the 650 c of my HP laptop wireless via the router.

    If you follow this path, you will get an IP address for the Designjet 650 c by selecting Prev in the menu until you get to the entrance, the top menu can go down three times for installing I/O, entry, entry (modular), entrance (network Cfg = >), down Yes, Prev, Prev, Prev, entrance, entry, down arrow twice for utilities Entry, arrow down twice for Config plot, Enter.

    That you select the jetdirect card like I/O device, get an IP address from the router and then print a configuration page that displays the IP address to halfway to the bottom of the page.

    On laptop computer click Start, devices and printers, do a right-click on the Designjet 650 c, printer, port properties, add a Port, Port TCP/IP Standard, new Port, following, then enter the IP config page printed.  For me, it comes to 192.168.1.13.  Enter the appropriate value, Next, Finish.

    If you do not have a router then consider making an inexpensive wireless router that could be wired to the Designjet and wireless for the laptop.  It would probably be a much better solution than to try to make a converter USB - lan.

  • iPad, screen Orientation change without moving the iPad? An application perhaps? Is this possible?

    I would like to have the ability to change the orientation of the screen without physically rotate the iPad vertically.

    Here's what I mean.

    I have the iPad on the desktop and I want to check the email in landscape mode, I move on the table horizontally to landscape mode and orientation should change. It is not for the moment. I have to raise the iPad on the table and to change the direction from Portrait to landscape and when I go back to an application demanding in portrait mode, I have to again raise the iPad on the table.

    I was wondering if there is a utility app that allows the switch without raising the iPad and turning to change direction.

    Hello amitkapila2,

    Yes a few apps will change your orientation when you start them. Try roating your iPad in landscape ounces landscape enable locking focus on the home screen (in the last control center) and then launch the application of it rotates so it's the app.

  • Pavilion dv6: computer HP pavilion laptop does not start and I do not see the screen because it's broken

    I have the HP pavilion computer laptop windows 7 and I broke the screen about a year, I can't see the start menus. I have been using an external monitor and it has always worked well, but now I can't see how to fix my computer to boot.  I did a hard boot but nothing happened, and with a broken screen, I can't see any of my options on how to fix it.  It does not start.  Looks like it is, but because I don't see the menu F8 or Boot, I can't call themselves that the screen can be done.  Help, please.

    Hello @SPKaler,

    Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to draw your attention to the HP Forums Guide first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

    I read your post on the issue with the laptop won't start does not and wanted to help you!  I understand that the screen is damaged and you are using the external monitor to view the screen.  However, now that the laptop does not start, you can see is more of the external screen to see what is happening.

    From my understanding, you should not be able to see an image on the external monitor, until you start the operating system.  You can try to perform a system restore by using this document:

    HP computers - performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

    You may be able to follow along, long enough until the image is displayed on the external monitor.  Otherwise, you can contact HP support by phone, for additional options.

    Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this message as 'accept as Solution', this will help others easily find the information they seek.  In addition, by clicking on the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thank you!

  • Use of AL1511b laptop computer screen 5820 T-6401 in Italy. Simple adapter or converter needed?

    Use of AL1511b laptop computer screen 5820 T-6401 in Italy. Simple adapter or converter needed? AC adapter / CC seems to be internal. Can I just attach an adapter at the end of the wall to the monitor cord to fit Italian DC connector configuration or do I need a converter between the end of the US AC 3 earth-pin male connector and the Italian DC Jack? Some external adapters have a switch to change from AC to DC and some are just automatic. What is the story here? Any help would be appreciated.

    The power adapter in your laptop will automatically convert between 110 V to 240 V automatically. You must just the adapter to connect it to the outlet in Italy. Your monitor should also automatically convert the voltage as well, you need just the adapter to connect it to a power outlet Italian.

  • Acer laptop does not start after the blue screen

    After I got a blue screen (flashed by too fast to see the error message) when I try to reboot my acer 5610Z laptop computer with vista home edition, usually nothing happens at all. sometimes windows is trying to run the Startup Repair tool, then crashes and only a cursor flashing at a black screen.  Tried to open the case and clean the Fan & Heatsink heat to air without effect.

    The blue screen came a few days after I started using a new USB mouse, but the fan seemed to get high a few days earlier.

    But I noticed it will make the road to startup repair only if the battery is in, and never if only the power cord is attached.  Also, if I let the computer sit for several days, it is more likely start (even though he never passed from the Startup Repair).

    1. try the system restore.

    2. try to do a startup repair disk.

    3 acer Recovery Options.

    4. contact Acer.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    See you soon.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista repair disc.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    There is not a disk of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
