Lennovo T60

Hi I have a lennovo T60 thinkpad, after a faulty backlight in the display of my last I bought a screen used in a reputable eBay dealer and I replaced the screen that works well for a few hours then surprise, surprise, turns off and turns off so I have to look very carefully in the light to see, if I close the lid and reopen it springs back to life. It also has a ting pink down in the lower left corner of the screen. I don't want to go to the expense of having the screen removed and another in its place, if this is not the screen. So far he only did, while only plugged on the sector and not while running on battery. The person I bought the screen suggested he must stick a bit on the processor and graphics card, but I'm not entirely convinced. I really want my laptop to work as it's a great machine, but I can't afford to throw money without end to solve the issue, any help please?

Welcome to the froum!

This screen has a backlight broken - dyed pinkish is a gift died WITHOUT SUCH product defect - so return it as soon as POSSIBLE and get a refund from the seller "good reputation."

Good luck.

  • Z60m / T60 HDD upgrade

    Hi all

I offered to upgrade the HARD drive in a T60 opportunity bought by a friend of their son, on my advice. The HARD drive is 40 GB and his sister has a portable HDD 500 GB on her new computer, imagine how it feels!

I've been putting it for a while because of the cost of readers of IBM, which I suppose should be used. Reading that it is possible to upgrade using purchased Besides hard drives and seeing that the cost is less than half of those of IBM, I decided that I might as well update my Z60m at the same time.

In any case, the point is that I'm concerned about compatibility issues. I saw, in a thread, a link to the firmware of the HARD drive updates where there was a list of supported hard disks and found two Seagate drives in the list that I can buy relatively cheaply. Before seeing the list I was going to buy some Toshiba drives that were a bit cheaper than the Seagate ones. I am to be more careful or my way of thinking just that it's a 'safer' bet to buy Seagate drives in the hope that they will at least work out of the box, even if the firmware updates cannot. Are Seagate drives as good as any other compatible? I see that people go to the Hitachi drives but they are more expensive still.

    Sorry for the hike.

    Thanks for your help.

As long as it's a laptop SATA drive, 9.5mm/2.5' format, it will work in your ThinkPad (s) without any problem whatsoever.

    Enjoy the upgrade.

  • T60 widescreen freezes

    Hey guys,.

I have a T60 widescreen that freezes... Usually less than a minute after starting windows. I swapped in known good ram and hard disks from another machine without flaw. When I installed (2) the memory of 2 Gig chips it lasted about 30 seconds more, compared to about 45-60 seconds with memory that one chip. The point where it freezes is after windows loads and everything is ready to use. Usually I could select "start," "control panel", and then it would freeze until I can do a wider choice. Can someone help me solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Welcome to the forum!

What the battery on this T60 of yours? Defective and/or generic batteries have been known to cause freezing of the system on this generation of laptops.

  • How/where can I find a list of T60s specifications by type?

I am buying a specific T60: 14.1 "screen-4:3, 256 MB ATI Fire GL V5250, 60 GB of HARD drive. I was hoping that somewhere there is a specific list of "Specification of Type System" or something to help with the purchase of this. I googled and searched through the forum thinkpad and lenovo for this answer forums all day, but have not found anything. Is a list like this exist? If this isn't the case, could someone help me find this specific system?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Ethernet card disappears after installing SP3 (T60 1951 - 45G)

    Hello!

I updated my Windows XP with Service Pack 3 yesterday and now it seems my ethernet card has disappeared. i.e., it acts to it has been disabled in the BIOS (not appearing is not in Manager devices etc..). I tried entering BIOS, hide, start, restart, enable in the BIOS and new shoe but no luck. In another thread, I've seen update people complain of broken MS and a clean install could solve the problem.

My question is if someone else had the same experience and if it is solvable without a clean install of a simplified SP3.

    My machine is a T60 1951 - 45G.

Everything else seems to work fine by the way, but I'll post if I find additional problems.

It is reported of SP3 break connectivity LAN/WAN on many laptops (TechNet) MSFN, MS forums. Not quite sure that the resolution is at this time and not quite certain that a new simplified installation of SP3 would be a fix for the problem. For some, SP3 disable WAN completely, while others issue with LAN. It seems that some drivers 'most recent' are the culprits.

Before doing something drastic, try reinstalling the Lenovo LAN drivers to see if that fix it, otherwise you may just have to go back to SP2 (nothing wrong with it on an existing machine, otherwise it works without problems). SP3, after all, is above all a cumulative (but with 'new') update, so really there is no big reason for updating a working and XP - SP2 system with this new service pack update.

On a side note, remember to check if installed KB941644 inadvertently as part of the update - it's a "fix" that is known to cause a number of problems of connectivity (insoluble).

You can see here (MS XP questions) to see if there is a solution to your problem.

    Hope this clears up things

  • Replacing the hard drive T60 - Windows does not recognize the hard drive

Hello all, new to the community of Lenovo. I have a T60, but also the latest Lenovo Edge. HD crashed on the T60 and it will boot is no longer. I just bought a 500 GB WD without doing a lot of research. When trying to install Windows 7 (I had already updated the T60) it will not recognize the new drive - Windows does not drive at all. Is there a way to get the Lenovo to recognize the WD drive? Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks like you're doing something wrong, if the drive is a SATA it should work, install it and boot from your windows installation DVD and it will be the installation drive and shaped for you, or you can optionally set the partitions manually when you are prompted to do so. If you try to do something unusual such as transfer windows on the old drive then you will need to explain exactly what you did because I see no reason it should not work. Infact I did it several times myself.

I have a T60 (Intel 945GM chipset) at work and taking into account a large screen (Dell U2410 24 ", the format 1920 x 1200, 16:10). This laptop does support "external" to a resolution of 1920 x 1200 (using a port replicator with a DVI output port)?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, it is the maximum it can support through the single link dvi out.

  • Mark inside 15 "T60 4:3 screen?

OK, so I've always loved my T60 - one of the best machines ever built. I dropped it on the ground several times and it still works as if was new.

But I decieded to phurcase a few other "lenovos" thinking I have same experience and being satisfied... but I was so wrong.

Firstly - the screen I in the T60 beats every other Lenvovo machine I have. The T60 screen have an incredible viewangle and screen is crisp... but nobody knows which is manufacturered it?

I want to buy one to replace an another t60 where the screen is broken.

Only downside is that the brightness is not the best, however low ambient light is better for my eyes and hurt less.

    Congratulations to all!

Assuming that you are referring to a screen LCD SXGA + (1400 x 1050), that was made by LG Philips and holds a 13N7078 FRU.

Examples of AMENDMENTS can be found for $60-75 if one is patient.

  • T60 Portable appears on-screen Volume after has Hotkey of integration update

I have a laptop ThinkPad T60 (2008-HC6) running Windows 8 Pro (32 bit). Today (24/01/2013), I installed the 'Hotkey for Windows 8 features Integration' update which was released January 18, 2013. After the reboot, the display indicator pops up when I change the volume on my laptop by pressing the volume up, volume down, or disable the keys does not appear. The keys work fine, but the indicator does not appear.

I tried looking for an online solution. A common solution, installation of Lenovo Energy Management, does not solve my problem. No other software has been changed on my laptop between when the last power worked and when I installed the update of keyboard shortcuts.

I found the problem was with the "On Screen Display" of the update part. This particular update is in two parts to it. First, it adds the "Lenovo Patch Utility" program. Second, it updates the "On Screen Display" program, assuming that an older version was already on the computer updated. Adding the "Lenovo utility Patch" caused no harm, but the update of the "On Screen Display" prevents the on-screen indicator of volume display.

In the end, what I ended up doing took off the "On Screen Display" with the same utility as I used to be updated. Then I downloaded the latest next version of the utility and installed the version of the utility of the program "On Screen Display".

My volume indicator screen is now back and works well.

Hi, I'm new here, but I had a T60 1951 model for three years (and I had a few crashes but those that have been set), and everything was going well until my laptop crashed for the fourth time. I have the audio driver and the driver of the internet, but I searched through EVERY BIT of the Lenovo web sites and I can't find the graphics driver! Help!

    Welcome to the forum!

Assuming you are using XP, here is the driver:

After the download, you may need to go to C > drivers > win > video and run the Setup file from there.

  • Port of TP T60 SATA / SATA III SSD?

Hi, I have an old TP of IBM/Lenovo T60 1952 - CTO and I need a new hard drive. I immediately thought about buying some SSD (probably Micron RealSSD C400 128/256 GB used in the new ThinkPad). The problem is that these new SSD is equipped with SATA III interface. My question is if my T60 has a SATA II port and if I can use it (or similar) with this portable SSD.

    Thank you

    Welcome to the forum!

Your machine will take a SATA III SSD, but it will not work at SATA I speeds. It is however, in my opinion.

  • Newly installed T60 suffers from a heavy load of CPU (interruptions)

Hi all. Due to problems with my windows, I had to reinstall my T60 2007-FVG. I installed Vista, SP1, update system with all the drivers, update BIOS etc. The problem is now, I suffer from high CPU load often enough (Process Explorer who reports it as disruptions), each time for a period of time only. This makes his stuttering and slows down the mouse cursor. I tried reinstalling the drivers Intel INF, its pilots.

    I'm desperate.

    Thanks for any advice, Ales

I think I got it. It is caused by the search for wifi. When wireless is enabled, but no network not connected, it checks for networks every few minutes and this is the cause. I don't know what is the problem, but the solution is simple - turn off the wifi when you use do not.
