Lose the connection to the USB device

Hi all

I have developed an automated system that serves to calibarate lines scales. These scales are usually between 10mm and 150mm long and 0.1 mm and lower divisions. I use a camera to determine the edge/position of the divisions. A step of translating Physik Instrumente (USB) and a motor piezo high-resolution from each division. A laser Interferometer is used to measure the distance, the engines are passed (i.e. the distance between the divisions).

In the program, I have the ability for the user to define a start time for the calibration, for example 02:00.

My problem is from 02:00 in the morning, the computer is spent in screen/power saver mode. This leads to the stage of translation of Physik Instrumente to disconnect and causes an error that interrupts the program. In the morning, when I come back, the error is on the screen and when I press on continue the program continues as usual.

So what I'm looking for is a way to remedy this situation. I tried without success to the following:

Disable the screen/Power Saver - The IT Dept here mode won't let me not because several users have access to this program, they have to disable for each user.

Disabling the power management in the usb port properties had no effect.

I also tried a Subvi who would hover over a position on the screen in the hope that this would stop the computer into energy saving mode. Needless to say, it did not work.

Any ideas would be appreciated,

Thank you very much

This is one of the first things I turn off with any machine that I meet.  Causes more problems than its worth.

But it seems that your problem is in the machine, just go to sleep after a period of inactivity rather than the power management of lower level.

    Hello

I am running Windows 7 on a separate partition on a 2011 MacBook Pro (installed via Boot Camp).

This laptop has two USB ports on the left side.

If I connect/disconnect a USB device to the port more back, I get the notification sound as usual.

However, if I log out these same devices to the port further there is no notification even if the devices are recognized & seem to work fine.

Can anyone tell how to enable notification of this port please?

    John,

    Thank you for your response.

The sound scheme has already been set to "Windows default", but just for good measure, I changed it but it made no difference.

As mentioned be notified when you use one of the ports USB, but not the other.

I posted this in an Apple forum & other users of this machine & installation are reporting the issue even if it seems to be a generic hardware problem & not just something on my own system.

You can also try searching for devices strangers (with yellow symbols) in the Manager under the mouse devices and other pointing devices and other devices (if any). Right click and uninstall unknown devices. Then restart.

Also try the steps below to reset the power of USB:
    (a) the laptop off, unplugged from the wall outlet.
    (b) remove the battery for a few minutes, then reinstall it.
    (c) then restart the laptop.

  • Can I delay the prompt to begin to allow the USB device to connect in time?

    Hello

I use a guest linux 2.6 on the host of windows 7 that is running a GPS Simulator she starts and sends the GPS signal on a USB port. However, it seems to begin quickly on the USB be detected. If I stop and restart the Simulator after than the VM has started, it works fine.

So I was wondering if I can delay the start of the virtual machine so it has time to detect the USB device first.

    Thank you

    Hi TracMap,

    Welcome to the forums.

You can add a delay of starting your virtual machine. Manually change the configuration of your VM's VMX file and add a new line with:

    -bios.bootDelay = "xxxx".

'xxxx' is in millisecond. During this period, the virtual machine will stay on the screen of the BIOS in waiting for an entry and then start normally.

I hope it will work for you!

    Good luck.

Title: Windows 7 and install/recognize printer HP LaserJet P2015 teething problems...

I have a dell inspiron that was originally windows Vista and I changed to windows7.  I have a LaserJet where I work, a HP LaserJet P2015 printer and when I plug in the USB, it says (peripheral USB not Recognized One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it.

How and what should I do to get the printer going or to get the computer to recognize.  Installation CD will not work and I looked online and downloaded drivers but still the same thing.

    Hi LOliver,

Method 1: Run the hardware and peripheral troubleshooting tool and check if it makes a difference.

Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

Method 2: Disconnect all USB (Universal Serial Bus) devices connected to the computer (unless your mouse and keyboard). Connect the printer and check to see if the problem persists.

Method 3: Connect the printer to a different USB port and check.

Method 4: Reinstall the USB (Universal Serial Bus) controllers.

First of all, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    (a) click on 'Start', type device manager in the search bar and press "Enter." If necessary, click on continue.

    (b) in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right-click on the "host controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

    (c) repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and windows will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.
