lost access to my windows updates

Lately when I try to access my windows updates, I get a box saying that windows Explorer has stopped working, while windows Explorer restarts. Then disappears from the page and I'm back where I started. I tried restoring but I have been unsuccessful in the present. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Reggie1524,

·         Do you remember (KB) updates that have been installed that caused the problem?

Follow the steps below for a possible solution:

Method 1:

Step 1: Start in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

What is safe mode?

Startup options (including safe mode)

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you can put your system to boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

Method 2: Run a scan of auditor of file system (CFS)

  • Cannot access Internet on Windows Update

I recently formatted my computer windows laptop. I'm using Windows 7 Home Basic Edition. After a day or two, I am unable to access the internet even if I am connected to the router. I even tried to access Internet through my cell phone using a hotspot. It too its display "NO Internet access. There is no problem with the router or my cell like everybody else uses it and its works very well. So I tried to system restore to a point where I knew I was able to use the Internet. And here it does not work... But even once after the windows update it stopped working. Again, I must use the system restore to make it work.

I can't find the source of this problem? Because of the windows update or something else?

The KB2705219 update could be the cause and uninstall that solved the problem for some users.

To uninstall an update - control panel, programs & features, [left side of the window] see installed updates. Wait until the system has finished the research for the list of updates. Select update required, then right click and Uninstall.

    But...

In another thread [my computer today installed windows 7 updates, but my internet has been lost.] But the network is visible. [what caused this?] a user has identified this notice - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

While it remains that uninstall the Win7 update than kb2705219 solved the problem for at least two users, you should consider the McAfee fix. At least two users had also reported having removed then reinstalled McAfee earlier in the day and their systems have increased back & run correctly afterwards.

I had to run the MCPRT deletion a few times before and it caused a problem with the license if the PC was not connected to the internet during the abduction. Due cat of McAfee support reset their files in order to allow the relocation-reactivation. Here is their link cat - McAfee - media contains the link to the cat

I use McAfee anti-virus following personal firewall installed - version 10.15. • Lose the ability to access Internet after Windows updates published in the last 24 hours

I lose the internet connection if I install the Windows updates published in the last 24 hours.  I have had access to the internet after restoring to a restore point.   I was able to recreate this problem be reinstall them again.

    Update the example is KB2121546

    Manually install a - alone.
    Reset.

    Still have Internet?

Manually install the next one, one.
    Reset.

    Still have Internet?

Repeat this until you lose Internet or have installed all updates - what comes first.  If you lose Internet - uninstall that one and install all others (using the same one at a time - at the most method you will have 8-9 for this cycle) then come here and let everyone know what update was kill your Internet connection.

Why?  An update of the example is of no help.  There are 9 updates you could possibly have * if * you were aware through yesterday.  Knowing the SPECIFIC update that is causing your problem would be better for you and those who help you.

I have an Acer Aspire R7-571. In mice, there is a tab for the momentum, which allows you to configure the touchpad, as follows:

Where you can do things like turn off the tapping, set up scrolling, etc.. In Windows 8, it worked out fine; Since the Windows 8.1 update I find that all these parameters are lost each time that I reboot. To solve this problem, I open Control Panel and open the mouse. I still have to hit tab momentum - just open the control panel mouse Panel is quite suddenly revive all my settings and get the Touchpad works the way it is configured.

I installed the latest drivers of momentum for drivers Acer site Win8.1:

  • Account reset / lost permissions after that Windows update?

I am running Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. Recently, I conducted a regular update of Windows. Once the update has been completed, the my laptop rebooted and everything worked very well. Later that day, I turned off my computer laptop and turned on the next day morning. Everything was erased my desktop, documents, pictures, videos and so on. I can access all my programs by default start menu, such as Internet Explorer or Windows Movie Maker. However, if I go to my C drive and users, click on my account, I am always able to access all my documents, photos and videos that would be regularly on my computer desktop, documents, pictures, videos. When I open Google Chrome, it tells me that my profile has been reset by default and may not have the necessary permissions. When I open iTunes I get a popup that reads "Please wait while Windows configures iTunes."

My account is the only account set up on my laptop, and he is an administrator.  What causes this and what could be done to set it back to normal? I am skeptical about the restoration of the system, because it can not solve the problem.

In my humble OPINION, your problem resembles a corrupted user profile.  This is detected when you connect and a temporary, new user profile is created, which explains why you have been disconnected from your files.

The first thing I would try would be a restoration of the system to a point in time before your problem.  Corruption is in your file 'ntuser.dat', then this should restore it.  If this does not work, then you must recover your user profile by using another method, such as:

    "Fix a corrupted user profile.

  • Gives Windows Update: Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage

MS Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 SP 3 Norton Internet Security 2010

Start button...  Windows Update... immediately pops up a window of Internet Explorer 8, saying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."  with a diagnose connection problems button leading to say there is nothing wrong with the connection.  No error code is displayed.

Tried several times over several days.  Not good.  Tried to type the URL in the address field.  Same result.  Tried to access various Microsoft Windows Update web pages from within the Microsoft site.  Same result.  It almost seems as if "windows" & "update" is in the address, it does not connect.  I tried Windows malicious software removal tool.  No solution.  Tried all the Norton Scans.  No solution.  Completely removed Norton.  The same problem.

Windows Update worked until we made an update of Windows in 5/10, date at which we replaced Internet Explorer 6 with IE 8.  Since we cannot get Windows Update.

He could have something in the updates of Windows that blocks access to the updates?  He could have something in IE 8, which blocks access to updates?

Please don't give me the answer 'wipe the hard drive & reinstall Windows '.  It's a typical 'COMPUTING solution' which means 'I don't know what the problem, then that & everything will be fine.'  But in doing so, it will result in DAYS of relocation & configuration of all programs on my PC!  If you don't know the problem, tell (or do not).  If you KNOW what is really causing the problem and have a solution, I would be VERY grateful to hear from you.  Thank you.

I had this problem in my store with several client computers.

Scenario - IE browse websites ok. But when you try to manually run the updates of Windows, internet explore announcement that that the page cannot be displayed. The same also happens with Microsoft Updates.

I read a lot of discussion online, and many people do not yet have a solution.

Here's what I found... and every machine I have dealt with regard to this problem, in the last 4 months, have all had a rootkit virus infecting NETBT. SYS file in windows. Analysis tools more do not seem to pick up well. AVG, Malwarebytes, Norton... I know that these three would not pick it up.

Launch the latest Combofix it cleans well. If there is. And so far, I have managed to solve a good 6 computers by replacing the NETBT. SYS file.

So, if all else fails... check that. ;-)
