LR using obsolete metadata preset on the sync to folder.

Lightroom goes my year of copyright and contact information to old information on the synchronization of a folder.

Behavior:

A record of RAW files processed and ready to deliver.  These files all have 2014 of copyright and contact info.  Export these images in JPG format in another folder.  (Export includes all the metadata).  Open these jpgs in photomechanical to verify that the 2014 contact and copyright information are still embedded in the files.  Back to LR, do a right click on the folder that contains the files jpg, waiting to "synchronize a folder...". "to finish.  Look at the metadata Panel in LR or added JPG files - all copyright and contact info has returned again to a preset obsolete 2013.

Is there somewhere in LR, where he said to automatically apply a metadata preset?  I am not going through the import - just a simple file sync Panel.

I'm guessing that you haven't selected "show Import Dialog"... I wonder if something is not sticky in the Import via synchronization that does.

  • Switch of 4.4 Lightroom Auto Sync metadata missing from the sync button.

    I use Lightroom 4.4 on a Macbook Air 10.8.4 2013 operating system.

I don't see that switch allows automatic synchronization on the sync metadata button. Its currently visible on another machine a MacPro with Lightroom v4.3. I find it useful to be Basel quickly enable and disable the synchronization of metadata. I would be grateful if somewhere could you tell me if this was abandoned in v4.4, or have I missed a prefs setting somewhere? Thank you very much

It depends on how the "Menu metadata > see the metadata for camera lens only" option is set. If it is selected, the buttons are as show you them, with the little switch to the left of the 'Sync' button to "Auto-sync" If you click on (but only possible with several selected photos).

However, if this option is disabled, the button changes and becomes like this:

Any necessary switch in this case, the button lights whenever multiple images are selected.

  • Can't get the sync to android to work - articles seem obsolete

Hi, the articles on Mozilla on sync appear to be updated. Neither does match what I see on my screen and I have the latest versions.

I don't see a link synchronization code when I go into the menu to sync on my pc.
I'm also going to the top right menu on my android and the sync on the next screen button has no effect.

Banging my head against the wall now. No items match what I see on my pc screen or on my android screen.

My android also told me that my account login details are wrong even if I am logged in using the same info on my pc.

Try to reset the App Store:

Close the App Store completely from the window of the selector app by double clicking the Home button and slide up the App Store preview pane until it disappears from the display. Then sign out of the iTunes Store (in the settings).

Then perform a forced reboot. Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Then reconnect to the iTunes Store.

Also try by going to settings > general > Restrictions > and make sure that iTunes Store, Apps install, delete the Apps and In - App purchases are all under the section allow. Try to install again.

  • Problem with the sync audio to video when you use Windows Movie Maker version 6.0

I have a HP Slimline Pavillion S.3220.uk PC, using Windows Vista Edition Home Premium. I have problems with the audio video synchronization when using Windows Movie Maker, version 6.0, I 'get' raw AVCHD files to .wmv using voltaic HD.  I've noticed that the audio and video are out of sync, ONLY after the first thumbnail.  No indirect problem with videos, but when people talk to the camera, in case of DISASTER, as he is out of sync. I tried to reduce the resolution of 720 p and 540 p, and no solution to the problem. Any thoughts on the matter please?

    Hi Fabian119,

Today, there are hundreds of audio and video codecs in use. Some were created by Microsoft, but the vast majority of codecs have been created by other companies, organizations or individuals. By default, the Windows operating system and the player includes a number of the most popular codecs, such as MP3, Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video.

There might be times, however, when you want to read the content that is compressed with a codec that does not include Windows or the default player (for example, a file compressed with the DivX video codec or the Ogg Vorbis audio codec). Because the player is extensible, in many cases you can download the necessary codec on the web for free or for a fee.

You can visit the following links for more information on codecs:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/codecs-frequently-asked-questions

You can also view the following link to download the audio file conversion programs and check if you can convert AVCHD to Mpeg.

Convert music, videos and photos from one format to another

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Mapping of metadata fields for the Lightroom import process

Does anyone know what metadata fields using Adobe when playing jpg in a Windows (2000, XP, 7) environment? I tried many variations of the title, caption (subject), comments, and other areas. It seems that the areas are interdependent. If one is missing, then the same field may be used to fill two or more other areas. Adobe publishes a mapping or logical flow for the transfer of the metadata fields when importing? Yes, I understand that Microsoft broke all the standards known in this area, but I was using the "Windows Explorer" program for 20 years to fill the metadata fields in my image files. I'm now import a lifetime of photos in Lightroom for better management.

There are two separable issues: how Lightroom reads fields of metadata from photos, and how Windows Explorer writes of metadata fields.  Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a single document that authoritative describing each question.  The industry has made a mess inherited metadata, and very few programs trying to do quality work.

Lightroom has done a reasonable job to follow the industry standard, published by the metadata working group.  This standard unifies the three main mechanisms in which the metadata is stored in JPEG files and other file formats: EXIF, IPTC and XMP.    Many fields have defined slots in each of these three mechanisms.  For example, the capture time can be stored in EXIF:DateTimeOriginal, IPTC:DateCreated and IPTC:TimeCreated and XMP:DateCreated.  The MWG standard specifies how applications should read and write these multiple fields.

For a couple of the most commonly used fields, LR uses its own names: "caption" (for EXIF:ImageDescription, IPTC:Caption - Abstract, XMP:Description); "capture date" (see above); "title" (IPTC:ObjectName, XMP:Title).  But for the rest of the fields, LR usually uses the same name as that defined in EXIF or IPTC - standards are the names displayed in the presets EXIF and IPTC in the Panel metadata, in the right column of the library.

There is a dark corner where LR has made a mess: capture photos missing time (scans or digital photos very old).  Some parts of the LR will use the last modified time of the file, others the time to create the file (as defined by the Windows or Mac operating systems).  This gives very confused, inconsistent results that is easily corrected using the metadata > command change the Capture time.

About Windows File Explorer, as Windows 7, Microsoft has done a better job than average according to the standards of the industry (a little better), it's a pretty low bar, especially considering that there are many standards to choose but file Explorer has a lot of quirks.  It's been a while since I looked at File Explorer in depth, but I remember that he (like virtually all other applications, including LR) uses names for fields that do not necessarily closely match the names assigned by the standards.  For example, "Title" of the file Explorer Gets the mapping to EXIF:ImageDescription, EXIF:Title, EXIF:Description and IPTC:Caption - abstract.

    * * *

If you really want to get your 20-years-worth of photos loaded properly in LR (and I think you do), then your best best is to download the free "exiftool" and learn how to use it.  This is the tool the more authority without exception to examine and manipulate metadata.  To see where fields, I use this command line:

    ExifTool - a g fichier.jpg

I think that there are versions of Exiftool GUI, but in the past, they don't have to deal with the basic tool, and after a while, I found that they just in the way.

Then with a little trial and error, you can see exactly where the fields that you have stored with the file Explorer and if LR is read correctly.

  • bug using dbms_redefinition on table with the altered text index?

I think I can found a bug when you use DBMS_REDEFINITION on a table with a text index that has been modified using ALTER INDEX index-name REBUILD PARAMETERS (REPLACE...). It seems that DBMS_REDEFINITION does not recognize the syntax with REPLACE and redefining fails. However, if I remove the text index and re-create it with all the parameters set during the initial creation and no ALTER INDEX command, then redo the redefinition, it works correctly. I have provided below a script that reproduces the problem, then use workaround mentioned. I have provided a copy of the script and executing the script separately, so that it can be copied and pasted to reproduce the problem. It is a simplification of a problem which has emerged over the diagnosis of a larger problem presented by someone on another forum, where the objective was to perform a loop on a group of tables that meet certain criteria and change some columns varchar2, nvarchar2 columns of these tables, where there are indexes in full text on the other columns in the tables and indexes have been changed using the syntax above. This seems to be a bug or am I missing something or is at - it an easier solution for the redefinition?

No real workaround DBMS_REDEFINITION uses function DBMS_METADATA. GET_DDL() and a string of invalid parameter is returned due to known bugs when you use the ALTER INDEX REBUILD with parameter REPLACE; try to avoid changing the index with REPLACE if you export or use DBMS_REDEFINITION for this table/index.

Note to change the text index metadata, to change the existing class preference, you can use the REPLACE METADATA, IE

    ALTER INDEX i1 REBUILD PARAMETERS ("replace metadata sync (on commit)" ");

Will not rebuild the index so that your DOF is to rebuild the index

ALTER INDEX i1 REBUILD PARAMETERS ('REPLACE SYNC (ON COMMIT)")

  • Sync repeatedly presents the sync error, indicating the name/password of wrong account

I get this error whenever I closed and reopened Firefox 38.0.1. I tried the solutions recommended in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1063033, and they do not work. To enable synchronization, I must click on Preferences in the error (at the bottom of the window) and connect to synchronize manually. My FF is set up to always use the InPrivate browsing and do not save passwords. I use an automated password/login application called LastPass. However, the problem with the sync seems to have started in the last two weeks. The error repeats itself everytime I open a new window.

    Yes, it should work.

  • Firefox slows down to a crawl while the sync of bookmarks

Whenever I add, modify, move, or delete a bookmark, Firefox slows down to a crawl for a few seconds, whereas Sync does its thing. I know that Sync is the question because I added the sync icon to the toolbar and see it light up and spin and Firefox is unusable whenever I have change a bookmark. This is probably because I have a ridiculous number of bookmarks: probably in the range of 10-20 000.

Despite these problems, Sync did a good job of synchronizing bookmarks between my computer and makes it easier for me to finish my work, so I would like to continue using it. My bookmarks file acts as a search engine mini for the things that I found useful/interesting. deletion of bookmarks or using a very stripped down bookmarks file really does not solve my problem here.

I already googled until exhaustion, and set services.sync.autoconnect to false in: config, but that didn't seem to do anything. This solution might work but is not very handy: http://superuser.com/a/818726/362951

Is it possible I can turn off Auto-Sync synchronization after each change bookmark? I'd like to be able to synchronize ONLY when I click the 'Sync' button in my toolbar in FF.

Sync chooses when synchronize based on a combination of the last hour of synchronization and the amount of change that has occurred. You can actually turn off the synchronization (except you can still manually synchronize) by changing these values.

    1. go into "subject: config.

    2. Enter "services.sync.syncInterval" in the search box. It's the amount of time (in 1/1000 of a second) that synchronize waits between synchronizations. If you want to sync never synchronize after a while, change for something big like '999999999999999999999999 '.

    3. Enter "services.sync.syncThreshold" in the search box. It is the amount of change that must take place between synchronizations. 300 represents a bookmark and is also the default, so by default, sync will sync whenever you add a bookmark. If you want to synchronize only after 2 bookmarks, change it to 600, etc.. If you want to never synchronize, also change it for a very large number.

Note: there is always a possibility sync may synchronize automatically some time, but it is extremely rare.

  • I'm not setting up the sync button

I know it's stupid, but I'm not setting up the sync button. I want to transfer my old PC bookmarks and read how do it, but when I click on the upper left button of my Firefox screen orange the only option seems to be to synchronize now. Any help is welcome. Thank you Joe

See: Bookmarks > show all bookmarks

    • Press the F10 key or press the Alt key to bring up the hidden 'bar menu' temporarily.

You get the orange Firefox menu button when the menu bar is hidden.

    • Firefox menu button > Options
    • View > toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
    • Right click on empty toolbar space

  • New for synchronization, I have set up the sync account in my new laptop and linked to my main computer; now worry Sync will eliminate information on the primary computer. What should I do?

Knowing nothing about the sync but enthusiastic about its benefits, I followed the directions for the implementation of a synchronization account in my new laptop. Then I realized that I should start with my main computer that has all the data I want to transfer to the new. However, Firefox won't let me set up the sync account in my main computer because it says I already have an account. He gave me a code to connect the main computer to the new, and I did. Now I'm afraid to sync for fear that this will eliminate the info in my main computer rather than transfer them to the new. Is this true, and if so, how can I do it again and get Firefox to establish the sync account in my main computer?

Do not know what is it and how to use it

  • I downloaded the Sync Firefox Add on, but when I select 'Add a device' it are launching a help page which tells me to click on 'Add a device' - circle without end!

I downloaded the Sync Firefox Add on, but when I select 'Add a device' it are launching a help page which tells me to click on 'Add a device' which is a circle without end!

    Any advice appreciated

Sorry about that. Using pages have been updated for the new 'add a device' addresses in Firefox 4, but the add-on for Firefox 3.6 is still using an older, different process.

You can download Firefox 4 release candidate here and use the new "easy installation" process described in the help pages: http://firefox.com/rc

Or if you prefer to stay with Firefox 3.6, so instead of clicking 'Add a device' on your computer, press the 'Connect' button on your phone or other device, and then click "I'm not near my computer...". "and enter your email address and password sync key. (If you do not know your key synchronization, see synchronize your bookmarks from Firefox, history, passwords, etc.)
