m251nw: garbage prints m251nw characters randomly

I have a small home network with a HP Color Laserjet m251nw.  It has been in place for several years and works very well.  It is configured as a network printer.

The last week or so, I had events where the printer is out of paper after printing the tray corrupt character set.

I thought that protected by some kind of print job failed.  I power cycle the printer, went to the one on the network and makes computer so that no print jobs are waiting. (Went up to check that NO printer defined had all print jobs).

This doesn't seem to help.  Even if no print jobs are waiting, it will always print pages garbage after sitting idle for a while. (As little as 10 minutes, for as long as a few hours).

I updated the firmware from 20150212, but I had an event about 15 minutes after finishing.

On a whim, I just cut the e-services, (maybe someone was emailing a bad impression?)

Really, I have two questions.

1. is there a newspaper that tells us where the last print job came? (IP, online services, etc.) ?

2 other things I can try?  I don't have the money to replace the printer right now.

I think I solved this problem.

For reasons I do not understand the IP address of my printer changed to the IP that I used for my office.  (Can be any number of reasons, I had problems with my router that required me to reboot several times, probably wiped the database of the DHCP lease)

I have several camera that saved JPGs and AVI on the desktop via FTP.

I forced to change the IP address of the printer, and I have not had an event repeat since.

    Lynnega

Hi Lynnega - usually this kind of problem is the result of having the selected incorrect printer driver or a problem with the cable.  A couple of things to check:

-When you click on print (from any program you print from - from MS Word), make the DeskJet 600 is selected.  If it is not selected, search through the list and select it.

-If the 600 DeskJet is selected, turn the printer off and unplug and reconnect the parallel cable to the computer and the printer.

-If is not yet solve the problem, I recommend to try another cable.  Cables can go wrong and the result is usually the impression of 'trash' that you see.

    Hope that helps.

  • HP LaserJet: HP printer escape characters

    Hello:

When I bought my first printer laserjet about 20 years ago, I created a number of files that have left me, that contain HP printer escape characters.

Are always compatible with an HP MFP M225dw?

How can I make them visible in MS Word 2010?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    FRED

Still widely used HP PJL PCL printers and it is backwards compatible with older versions.

So as long as you have a printer with processors, it will probably take these codes.

The fiber has nothing to do with the printing of your network. It's a totally different connection. First of all, I could check the software and see if the printer still works correctly. Maybe it's having a connection problem with the driver software. Uninstall and reinstall the software/driver?

  • Office Jet 4632: queue is empty but print same file randomly

I printed a document more than a month, and since then, randomly, it prints the document even without rhyme or reason. It is not in the queue, I restarted the PC and printer, cancelled all documents (even if none present) and I can't leave paper in the printer because it will print if there is paper in there. Yet, it never shows "add a document" as it does when I try to print a document without paper in the feeder.

This is wasting paper and driving me crazy!

    Hello @dedra14,
  • HP Envy 111 not print all characters through Windows XP

My HP Envy 111 has just decided to leave out characters when printing. If that's the Word, Adobe Acrobat, Chrome or Internet Explorer, it prints what it feels and leaves a mess of other things. It worked fine up until this point. I made no changes to my computer or printer. My breaker was triggered a couple of times and cut everything but my computer and printer are plugged into an act of power. My software is up to date on the printer. I'm low on black ink, but that's all. Help, please. Thank you!

Yes. It seems that the printer driver may be conflicting with something and causing this strange distortion. That, or the print in your operating system spooler is defective. I'll link the instructions to use another driver below, and I'll give you the instructions to work around the print spooler, if this does not work. Try to make the other driver before trying to bypass the print spooler and be sure to do one at a time. No sense in bypassing the print spooler if it works fine.

How to assign other drivers to print in different Versions of Windows

To work around the print spooler:
    1. click on start.
    2. click on Control Panel.
    3. make sure that you have it on classic view.
    4. open the printers and Faxes folder.
    5. right click on your printer.
    6. Select Properties.
    7. click on the Advanced tab.
    8. make sure that "Print directly to the printer" box is marked.
    9. click on apply to save the changes and OK to close the window.

  • Printer Adobe PDF 'printing' corrupted characters

Acrobat Professional v9.5.0 (Acrobat reports there is no update available)

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I print various applications and web pages on my 'Adobe PDF' printer to save things in the form of PDF files.

In the last months, I started having problems with my Adobe PDF printer. This problem has happened twice just yesterday, in fact.

I will be looking at a web page and choose to print it as a PDF (for example, an invoice). I provides the name of the file and choose to print and Acrobat to display the newly created PDF file, and there characters corrupted in various places.

If I try to print in PDF format again, I get the same results.

However, if I print the article in the Microsoft XPS format, it works very well and all the characters are readable.

I don't know what to do. I saw an article on embedding the fonts, but it seems that all the standard "web safe fonts" are already set to be incorporated into the PDF file through Distiller (if that is what is doing printing to create the PDF file). If I have to choose fonts to embed in the PDF, it seems extremely difficult to determine which fonts are used by each site or application by selecting all the manually to be incorporated into the files.

Surely, there must be a simpler solution to this question.

I too had this annoying problem, usually printing of https sites, although the address of the site could be a coincidence.

    What worked for me was:

    1. Select Print
    2. In the print dialog box, select Adobe PDF , and then Preferences.
    3. In the Print Options dialog box, the tab should be Adobe PDF settings
    4. Clear the rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts
    5. Select OK

If the box is already disabled, it can be caused by something similar. It worked so I went no further. I have not yet checked to see if this must be done each time or how to do it by default.

I built a model for print control using XML Publisher 5.0.1 when I print checks that they are randomly out of alignment. Are there required parameters to set up the printer (I use HP Laserjet 4000 series PCL for print) print AP checks. Someone risked a similar question.

Hard to say without looking at your model/sample data, you can edit your docs here?

Anyway, you can check for extra spaces and carriage returns before and after your tables - this is the normal cause of your problem.
Re: Question enumeration line fixed AP Check/Table

Could be using a more recent version of BI/XML Publisher...

  • Printer turns off randomly

Just bought my HP Deskjet 2542 third all-in-one.  It does not stay on.  I have reset the cables, etc.  I actually press the power button on console each time before I send anything to the printer.  It is the third of this model that I bought in the past few weeks - the previous two had different problems (lights of ink cartridge kept flashing after you have properly installed according to the instructions) that I simply returned rather than bother with.   He is registered, so this should still be under warranty.

Auto power off is disabled in the printer?

  • M602: M602 direct PDF prints garbage after firmware update

We have 18 laser printers HP in society.

I installed an update of the firmware on three devices M602, and now all the direct PDF files print square characters mixed with the correct charaters on our documents.  PDF files have embedded fonts.

    The version of the firmware in the M602 is 2307851_000040 / 3.7.01 / 20160225

The same document printed to a P3010 prints correctly, with firmware 07.240.7 / 20151017

I would like to start working with HP for a fix of the M602 firmware.

Here's a small segment of the document print correctly before the update of the firmware:

After working hard through the chain of command, I have this escalation with HP and has recently received the new firmware that corrects this problem for one of our many printers with the problem.  This is excellent news.  Thanks HP!

  • HP Envy 5540: Printer Hp Envy 5540 randomly printed the Network Configuration Page

    Hello!

I bought this printer about a month ago. Set up the connection to the printer wireless with my wifi, and my understanding is that the printer is protected like my wifi and use the same password in order to print something. I kept my printer connected and 'standby mode' since I put in place. The night last at about 23:00 when I was in bed, the printer turned on randomly and printed a "wireless network configuration page" that has had a lot of information, including the IP address and listing my name wifi as well as the names of my neighbors wifi in the surrounding apartments.

I'm trying to understand why this printed, because I certainly did not do. Anyone have access to my wifi, or has someone may simply try to print something and selected my printer as it should appear on the "list available connections on the computer of anyone, given that the printer is turned on? How could they print this sheet of network configuration if my printer is password protected?

I'm mostly concerned about someone who has access to my internet if they could print this page somehow, but maybe it happened just when they tried to connect to it, and it did not work while trying to fix MY printer?

I would appreciate any idea on the issue.

    Thank you!

    Hi @printerprob5540,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I saw your post on how your HP Envy 5540 randomly print a Network Configuration Page. I'm happy to help with this problem!

I find it very strange considering the only way to print the Network Configuration Page, AFAIK, is with the following steps:

    • Make sure that there are size A4 or US Letter, unused, plain paper in the feeder.
    • On the printer Panel, drag the screen to the left and then press Setup.
    • Touch tools.
    • Drag upward on the screen and then tap Network Configuration report.
    • A Network Configuration Page prints up to three pages of information.

  • LaserJet CP1518ni: Characters unwanted printing

Somehow, my CP1518ni is glued various printing characters on one or two lines at the top of the blank pages and will continue to print until the book is exhausted or reconstituted.  It will even print these characters when the printer has been disconnected from my computer.

I have reset the CP1518ni defaults, but that made no difference whatsoever.

Howard, I want to assure you of one thing. When you turn the computer of just power and anything else connected to the printer or are you plugging the network or usb cable.  You might try the reset the NVRAM but don't forget that returns all settings to factory default and if you still have the same issue, which would then indicate a number of trainer.

Perform initialization of the NVRAM on the printer HP Color LaserJet series CP1510
    1. turn off the product.
2 press the button arrow to the right and press X. hold down these keys
    you turn the product on.
    3. where a Permanent init storage. appears on the screen, release both buttons.
    4. when the product has completed the NVRAM initialization, it returns to the ready state.
