MacPro UPS connection.

Would it not be smarter to cut and edit the OEM for a Macpro 2010 power cable so that it fits in an APC ups on or cut and connect a surge protector power cable so it can fit into an APC out and have all its points of sale back to the UPS?

Why should you change cables or power cords for use with an inverter? I certainly didn't need to do. You're not being maybe clear in your statement of the issue.

  • Error on the UPS Firmware Dell Update utility

    Hello

I got the error "No UPS connected or not able to make the connection" the inverter is connected by USB.  I have RS232 or USB enabled in the upgrade utility.

I'm under UPS Local Node Manager, that's how I know that the UPS USB connection is good.

Manager of local node said in respect of the power supply: Dell Rack/Tower UPS 2700W UPS RT LI LV 2700.  The device status for lack of UPS.

The following information found here that I'm updating the firmware and then replace the battery followed by replacing the battery if the fault is not resolved.  I have re-sitting and replace the battery with a new battery.  The front panel of the inverter shows again the fault as well as the software after replacing the battery.  It seems that the update of the firmware is the only option for this error at this stage of troubleshooting.  However, the upgrade utility does not work.  Please help.

Sometimes they have the management software will not allow the firmware update utility to try and work as follows:

    1. If the inverter has the NMC (Network Management Card) installed, then select the NMC in the utility of upgrade of the UPS Firmware and update the firmware of the UPS.
    2. Connect the ups to another system (server, desktop computer, laptop computer) that has neither ULNM nor would save installed. Load the utility to upgrade the Firmware of the UPS and the UPS firmware on the new system files. Launch the UPS Firmware Upgrade utility and update the firmware of the UPS. Reconnect the ups to the original system.
    3. Uninstall the ULNM and/or would save the system. Launch the UPS Firmware Upgrade utility and update the firmware of the UPS. Reinstall ULNM and/or save. Check the configuration settings.
  • Time Machine do not wake the Macbook to perform backups

I'm saving a Macbook Pro on a Mac Mini with OS X Server installed. Previously, I supported it up to a USB hard drive connected locally. It is 1 year and Yosemite, can it take hourly backups while you sleep as expected.

In both cases, Time Machine works fine, except one thing... Hourly backups do not, occur when the computer is in standby. In other words, the Mac does not wake itself for the backup as expected (Power Nap is enabled.)

I've seen similar to this, other issues involving a UPS connected by USB, but I have no one.

    What I tried:

    1. I did a clean (with format) installation of El Capitan of the recovery partition and did not restore from Time Machine (just dragged my music, photos, documents to their respective homes manually).

    2. I have also reset the SMC and the PRAM without effect on this issue.

    3. I upgraded 10.11.2 and the problem persists.

4 past of connected locally to target (USB) for a target of network (on OS X Server) without change

Starting from what a manual backup works perfectly and automatic backups occur as planned then I use the computer (that is, as long as it doesn't go to sleep).

Energy Saver preferences are using default values, Power Nap is enabled.

So my question is just... Before I contact support, does anyone know if there is a bug open for this report?  I * have * read the other threads and they speak very precisely a connected UPS number and that a fix was imminent in 10.11.2. The other owners of Macbook having this problem?

Time Machine wakes you up only the Mac to perform a backup, if the Mac is connected to a power outlet. If you did that, then it might be a bug that I don't know a solution.

It is OK and normal to have several svchost exe process running on startup and when you look at Manager tasks.  Important XP Services are actually running under svchost.exe processes. There are sometimes an XP Service that runs under a svchost.exe process, sometimes there are several Services in XP, which runs under a svchost.exe process.

To help understand your processes svchost.exe and what is running under them, read this article and you will be smarter than the average bear:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial129.html

Pourriez you be able to get clues using everything that happens with your svchost.exe process using the Task Manager and maybe understand.

You always want to be able to understand what is happening with your svchost.exe process if you use Process Explorer.

Download Process Explorer, so you can see what is 'really' running on your system, especially behind those svchosts several process see you in the running task manager.

    Download Process Explorer from here:
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

You'll like Process Explorer when you get the hang of it.  Process Explorer is the Manager of Windows taskbar on steroids.

Process Explorer installs nothing so it won't slow down your system since it works only on request.

Process Explorer can seem a little intimidating at first because it has so much information, but you will begin to make love the way it works when you're looking for performance problems.   You can even say EP you want it to be your new default 'Task Manager' value in the future.  You can always run the original tasks as Manager.

Once you get Process Explorer running, expand the columns, made drag the corners of the screen for it's largest, etc., so you can see as much information as possible in the window.  Now you can really see what is running on the system.

Here's a screenshot of my poor system when I use Process Explorer:
    http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/2567/ProcessExplorer.PNG
The CPU column is usually the most interesting start with performance issues - which uses the most?

You have a few XP Service starting you need not start at all, or at least they can be set to manual start so that they do not run all day doing nothing.  Their manual adjustment, they start when they need to start.

For example, you have the UPS Service starts:

    Departure from C:\WINDOWS\system32\ups.exe: 08.05.2013 19:27:07.368 duration: 0,131 sec

If you do not have a UPS connected and wired to your serial port, turn off the UPS Service.  There is no need to be starting and running all day doing nothing.

The value of your Distributed Transaction Coordinator Service Manual - you don't need that:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdtc.exe Start: 08.05.2013 19:26:09.216 duration: sec 3,136

If you need it, it will start when it needs start.

You can go here to get more information, but be careful not to turn off the important things (not crazy) and if you are not sure, leave and ask:

    http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-Windows-XP-x86-32-bit-Service-Pack-3-service-configurations/

This page does not mean that you have to change all the services mentioned on this page - this is a page of reference and not all may apply to all systems.  If you are not sure, let the Service alone, do some reading or ask.  Keep a note of which Services you change and what changes make you, then test making still only some changes at once--a whole lot of changes at a time.  That way, if things get worse, you can save by unscrewing the final adjustments.

My MSE does not take as long as yours to start, but if you have installed it, it can have updated itself and make an initial control when he started while you might need to do another pass with Bootlog XP once things settle down.

Your second pass also has what was lacking in your second 46 pre MSE run:

    Diskeeper Start Corporation\Diskeeper\DkService.exe C:\Program: 08.05.2013 19:26:17.394 duration: sec 118,488

I do not use DK but you might like it and some people do.  Maybe it's something, you can temporarily disable in CCleaner temporarily to see how things look then decide whether it should start all the time, or is something that you can just throw on request (I forgot how DK works these days).

Keep an eye on these horizontal lines in Bootlog XP and say ' what is it and do I really need? "and then do some Googling to find out.

Sometimes you just have to say ' well, I really think that I like and need all of these things I start and if we add one more minute of my boot time, which is correct - since at least now I know (and now I can see in Bootlog XP) what it is, and I understand it.

Oh Yes... did you fix your paging file to size management system?

You got rid of Comodo kind too, right?

I run a few different configurations...  One for when I want to see how fast I can go for most of the day I keep running MSE, so sometimes I need to activate mobile stuff for synchronization of mobile devices and sometimes I need things running for stuff from Adobe Creative Suite...

I do not print a lot so I put my manual print spooler and XP will complain when I try to print, but it's normal because I know what it is (saving about 10 seconds of boot time).

If I've got everything it has allowed, still need my system to 42 seconds at startup (an eternity for me), but that's OK with me since the Bootlog XP Let see me what happens when I need to know.

After awhile Bootlog XP will try to encourage you to register and if you like it, you must register and pay to continue using it, but you can just click on the Check button again and you're in business LOGIC.

I can charge $1 per second for every second that I take off of someone starting (up to $50) and it only takes a few minutes usually.  With Bootlog XP, it's easy to show them the front and after the reports and they are happy to pay - and it does not guess or "I think it might be faster" since you can see the numbers in the report.

And there is no charge if when I spend with your system that it takes more time to start.  It's free!

  • hibernates immediately after starting

I made a few changes on the backup settings of my UPC on the hibernate after a power failure. After my next starup sys goes into hiber too fast so that I can't put back it. So now it comes cycles. Unable to get into safe mode to correct this. I am now in operation off a clone HDD that is my backup but is back on the other HD update. Can connect only the HD as a slave and change the settings, I don't know how to do this. If only I could get into restore using my windows CD? Help please.

I do not know and can not easily test but if you have a UPS connected via a serial cable and the inverter XP Service is somehow thinking that he must immediately be put into hibernation or shut down your system, you could put all your stuff together and turn off the UPS Service (or any Service) of the XP Recovery Console , then reboot without the UPS activation Service, then fix it.

I think it works if the UPS Service is contributing to your problem.

Here is a list of the XP Recovery Console commands:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314058

Once in the Recovery Console, you must type this command to turn off the UPS Service:

    turn off the UPS

Then, remove the bootable CD and type "exit" to restart your system.

You have a bootable XP installation CD authentic where you can start in the XP Recovery Console, or you need to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console?

Do not guess what the problem might be - understand and resolve it. I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

When I look at Human Interface Devices in Device Manager, I see a list of devices. Here are below with some of their properties in the columns (although MGFR and LOCATION version/date are not part of the displayed list - you have to dbl - click the device to get this info).
All devices are "working properly" according to Device Manager. But the movement of the mouse on the screen is sporadic and irregular - jumpy.  New battery does not solve the problem.
This list has duplicates? Or is the apparent redundancy necessary? Some drivers are old. Others are recent.

  • Monitor / Desktop random feeds problem - OS Possible problem

    Hello world

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

I replaced my old HP Pavilion Desktop in 5 years with a new desktop computer HP Pavilion (HPE-180 t).  I have always used the new computer since June 14, installation of software, scanner, and printer etc... I have a problem that has cropped up twice in the last week.  I will not detail the problem and troubleshooting below.  Please take a look at my questions at the bottom of this announcement to provide any help you can.  I appreciate all the advice!

    THE SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:

    1-HPE-180 t, Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), Intel Core i7 - 930 quad-core CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 220

-NOTE: It was a CTO system.  When it was ordered, it came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  When I got the computer, I did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

-NOTE: When the computer was ordered, I bought the 1 TB RAID 0 hard drive option (2 x 500 GB SATA HDDs).  When I got the computer, I disabled RAID 0 and set up two 500 GB drives hard drives no RAID independent.

    2 disk Management shows:

-Disk 0, Basic, 465,76 Go, online

    a. reserved system, 100 MB NTFS healthy (System, Active, primary Partition)

    (b) (C, 244,04 GB NTFS, healthy (startup, files, crash dump, primary Partition of the Page))

    c. New Volume (B, 221,62 GB NTFS, healthy (Primary Partition))

    -Disc 1, 465,76 GB, online

    a. New Volume (P, 465,76 GB NTFS, healthy (Primary Partition))

    PROBLEM:

    1. on 7/27, I left the House at about 19:00 with computer.  I went at about 22:00.  The monitor was in STBY (power led is orange) but the tower was still active (blue power LED) and he was blasting.  The tower should have been in STBY mode as I have the computer configured for the management of the "Balanced" diet, where the monitor turns off after 10 minutes and the computer goes into sleep mode after 30 minutes.  I tried to wake up the monitor by moving the mouse and then pressing the keys on the keyboard, but no response.  I finally had to hold down the power button on the computer to turn off, waited a few minutes, then return to work the computer.  No error was reported.

    2. the same problem occurred 8/4 (yesterday) at 17:30.

    TROUBLESHOOTING WITH CV:

I called HP after both and here's troubleshooting that occurred with each instance:

    1. to 7/27:

-Technical support took control of the computer

-Looked under the (Local) computer management / system/view tools but found nothing of value

-Done a disk cleanup on drive C:

    ((- Remove temporary files in the following folders: a) start/run/enter/%temp%, b) start/run/enter/prefetch

-Do you have a Check Disk via start/cmd/select/r-click/Run as admin/chkdsk

-Checked Device Manager and not found any problem

(((- Analysis of HP Tech: a) the computer woke up to the top for any reason, but the monitor was still asleep, no communication between the monitor and the computer, if happen, and then restart the computer and call HP, b) all software and hardware checked with no problems found, c) do a "Disk Cleanup" and remove temporary files once a week and do a defrag once a month.

    2. for 8/4:

-The first thing that the HP support said was that it might be a static electricity problem.  He didn't check the hardware.  I will note that when I went home to be there for the morning and afternoon, two of our ceiling fans running at high speed with the fan lights.  This usually means that there is some sort of disruption of supply.

--Mettre put off the computer, disconnect all devices from the front and the back of the computer, hold the power button / stop for 20 seconds, then reinsert entered computer for food and the mouse and the keyboard, and then do a system restore from 8/2 @ 17:45.

-Restart the computer, press F9 continuously to implement Diagnostics which tested the CPU, the memory, two 500 GB hard drives and two readers of DVD and the Path... start all past.

-Shut down the computer for 2 minutes.

-Turn on the computer and press F10 continuously, not a Smart short self-test on disc 1 (which I think is drive 0 because the other disc was called disc 2), then made a Smart extended self-test on disc 1 (who took almost 90 minutes)... all two passes.

-HP Tech analysis: there is no problem with the computer hardware.  Tech believes strongly that I encounter this problem random comm because I installed Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) on this computer that was initially loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).  He also suggested that I have create via the tool HP recovery disks and perform a destructive recovery on the computer to return it to its original state and then reload all necessary software and hardware.

    QUESTIONS RELATING TO THE:

    1. do you think that this could be a simple matter of a disruption of energy in the home, causing this problem of communication between the monitor and the computer?  If so, would simply need to buy a surge protector better?

2 do you think I have my install of Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) on this computer that was initially loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium could be the cause of this problem?

    3. any ideas how to do to troubleshoot/correct this problem?

    Thank you very much

  • How to connect a MacPro to a TV with S connector or banana plugs

I have a MacPro bought in 2013 and want to connect it to an older flat screen TV. The TV has a connection port "S". It also has a yellow, white and Red connection port. Is there a configuration of connection cable I can use to achieve this? Apple support could not help me.

    You could try a HDMI / S-video adapter like this-> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LK95VNQ/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=19446 87522 & pf_rd_s = lpo-top-band-1 & pf_rd_t = 201 & pf_rd_i = B00H4SO0WK & pf_rd_m = DER ATVPDKIKX0 & pf_rd_r = 0YDM6K57PGY5NQAEY736

  • Can I connect airport time capsule on UPS?

I have a time capsule airport with 3TO.     Because of frequent failure, I want connect to UPS supply.   My UPS has a transfer time of 10 ms to transfer power on battery power during a power failure.     This glitch is acceptable for the time capsule.   I'm worried about the hard drive in the time capsule.

I've never had any problem at all with a UPS in 5 years with a time Capsule, and we have electricity here maybe 5 - 6 times per year due to thunderstorms.
