  I have a question about UCS 6300 Series fabric interconnects. Is this fabric UCS interconnections 6300 series integrated into the extension of tissue function?  The reason why I asked this question was, when there is 6300 series fabric has been plugged UCS 5100 chassis, there is no more space to plug in extension of UCS 2200 series fabric. My understanding on the topology of the UCS, tissue extender is the connection between the blade and the fabric of the interconnections.

  Yes, that's correct!

  The chassis so called FI - IOM (see attachment p52); THE IOM = FEX.

  I/O of the blade adapter to connect inside basket chassis, which connects to the built-in IOM.

  IOM is then connected to the built-in FI.

  We have 240 servers in a Rack mount C220 we are blind regarding the hardware monitoring. Because they are backup servers we do not want traffic to cross the FI, is there a way to monitor servers with the call using a single cable without using a VIC card through an Extender. The servers PCI slots are used with 10 GB 8 GB HBAs and broadcom.

• Communication through MAX with equipment series

  I use a converter RS 232 to USB to communicate with a gas Analyzer. I want to communicate using the C-link protocol to communcate with the Analyzer, but I cannot do this through Labview and MAX. In the manual of the machine, it is said that control of the aircraft have first the ASCII, code 128 character and its id to the instrument, which, in my case, is 43, which means that the command should start with ASCII character code 171. Then, each statement must end with a carriage return. I tried several different ways to send these commands but in MAX, I get an error in time-out for the series in Labview and VISA Communicater, I get an error on the property node (I used the basic series write read provided vi).

  Can someone help me on? I'm not really sure how to send these commands properly to the analysers.

  You send the characters 'C' and 'R '. This isn't at all the same that the CR control code. You might have used the cast to send hexagonal 0d, you can use the constant CR on the palette of the chain, you could set the string to display hexadecimal constant and send D 0, you can use the constant string defined for '-' display the Codes and \r to send.

  She really comes down to what means active/active N ° and type of switches upstream.  For ESXi NIC teaming - Active/Active load balancing provided the opportunity for all network links be active for devices different comments.  Grouping can be configured in a few different methods.  The default value is by ID of virtual port where each guest computer is assigned to an active port and then also a spare port.  Traffic to this host would be only sent on a connection at a time.

• FCoE Multihop EMC VNX 5300 to Cisco UCS FI / Series Blade B

  Hi all

  Having a performance problem with FCoE multihop of UCS.

  The presentation is as follows:

  UCS 5108 chassis--> 6248UP FI--> pair of N5k (5548)--> 10gig FCoE EMC VNX 5300 2 x 2 port card

  Everything is functional - I can't ping from tissues to the pwwn EMC n5k cf.

  I can see the paths in vmware on the vhbas everything is in place and active. The VMware is set to round robin and the side EMC ALUA 4.

  I'm at a loss on how to solve it more. The SAN is connected to the fabric with om3 fiber LC + 10 GB SR SFP. UCS has a pair separated from fcoe port fabric channels k 5 down to YEW (the help of twinax cables). The data are separated on its OWN virtual machine. Essentially, I followed the guide from cisco on how to proceed:

  The hosts are not boot from SAN for now, they are started from storage USB flash on the blade.

  The show on the 5ks flogi shows all connected, and as I said before, I can see the LUNS on the blades. When howerver I try uplod a file ISO DIS 2.5 GB in size in a data store takes about 2 ½ hours.

  I have the most recent UC 2.1 (2) a firmware installed. The N5ks have NX - OS 6.x. The blades have ESXi 5.1 with the latest drivers enet and installed cisco fnic.

  The default qos for n5k is configured.

  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  Hi Nick,

  Interesting observation. We have an IP hsrp in catalyst 4500 as a router for network management with ip redirects on a reason any. I have disabled ip forwarding as well and currently I do 30K iops with fabric RR double active path and no error in the CPNI on esxi logs.

  I'll have to do additional tests to see the weather, that it is a coincidence or a fix, by activating the ip redirects again. But it looks promising.

  As my e/s load is done with the network management of e/s generator (http://labs.vmware.com/flings/io-analyzer) should have no effect on the routed network FCOE...  He latest even came to my mind to check network Ethernet side.
