Messages e-all-in-one-HP Deskjet 3520

Just installed HP Deskjet 3520 e-all-in-one (new, bought at HP online). I did the whole upward with the head alignment, etc. in accordance with the instructions.

Every time I click on 'print' on any document, web page or something else, I get the message on the computer screen should I align the print heads (choices are align; Are not aligned; Cancel Print, help). This a step further, ridiculous to have to monitor and take care of for each print job.

In addition, the screen of the printer itself tells me to add paper even if the bin is almost full.

These measures were certainly appropriate when I was put in place of the printer. Now, they are annoying and should no longer appear. Any suggestions on how to teach the printer to 'do' and just print?

Hello murray2,

I understand that you have a few messages telling you to load paper and complete alignment. I can understand how this can be frustrating, especially when it's a new printer. What I would say is first, with the printer remove the power cord at the back of the unit. Then disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet. Once both ends are disconnected, please press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. This will ensure that all power in the printer is completely empty. Plug the power cord directly into the wall (not a surge protector) first, then to the printer. Return-turn on the printer and allow it to carry out the necessary maintenance.

Once the repair has been completed, press the ePrint button just to the left of the switch. Then select Product Updates. Once the updates, try to print again.

Please let me know if you still get the message, thanks.

  • PRI all-in-one HP Deskjet 3520: Deskjet 3520 printer all-in-one copy, but will scan and print computer

This printer has always worked well... used only occasionally. The cartridges are fine.  Everything prints out fine computer, it scans very well, but does not copy.  Looks like it's copy, but shot out a blank page.

Welcome to the HP community @273frustrated,.

I understand that your 3520 Deskjet is no copy making more correctly however, you can print and scan without a problem. I will do my best to help! I might be far away but I suspect that there could be a problem with the printhead and it printing black ink. I say this because when you print from your computer, normally the ink colors mix to create a composite black, and when you print copies, it's only the black ink cartridge that is used.

I want you to try a power reset and make sure that the printer is plugged directly into the wall, avoiding bars power and surge protectors. This ensures that the printer is full on.

    Turn on the printer.
With the printer, unplug the power cord at the back of the unit.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the unit.
If the printer does not by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

OK, I've lost my WHOLE day, searched forums, has done what others have tried, poste posted HP Facebook, doing whatever is humanly possible to get my printer to print in black. I ran the clean printhead, black ink changed TWICE new cartridges, reloaded drivers, reset the default open to the top of the printer and tried to manually clean the head after only 4 hours to do everything I can possibly do to get this junk to print in black. The printer is only a year old and the cartridges are freshly bought from the store. So, tell me what am I missing or is the printer ready to be stoned?

  • All-in-one HP DeskJet 2130: all-in-one x 2 align

I can't get an alignment page printed with my printer all-in-one HP DeskJet 2130 new (just out of the box).

I have installed two ink cartridges, loaded paper and did not get an automatic alignment page print as the directions say I would. I put a piece a document on the glass of the scanner as shown and then press the START COPY BLACK button nothing works. The book comes out just of Virgin. I do the same thing with the button COPY COLOR START, get the same results.

I turned the printer market twice, installed the printer software and tried again... still a blank alignment page.

I used the new ink cartridges, not supplied with the printer... could they be defective? Any ideas? Thank you very much!

  • I want to print black and white with empty color cartridge. My model is all-in-one HP Deskjet 4288.

I want to print black and white with empty color cartridge. My model is all-in-one HP Deskjet 4288.

The Deskjet F4288 joined the printheads on the ink supply.  These are replaced at each change of cartrdige so there is no concern about printing empty color or black cartridges.

You should be able to print in ink entry mode "backup" by removing color (or black, but not both) cartridges.  There will probably be a warning message about ink backup mode but you should be able to print and the printer will work regardless of the cartridge is available.  In handwritten backup with the only color black cartrdige mode areas will print in shades of gray.  If print ink backup mode only the installed color cartridge then black will be printed by mixing colors.

See page 75 of the manual here, that says:

    Use the entry ink-backup mode
Use ink-backup mode to operate the HP all-in-one with only one cartridge. The
ink-backup mode begins when an ink cartridge is removed from the print cartridge
transport. During the ink-backup mode, the product can only printing from the computer.
You cannot start a print job from the control (such as copying or scanning a Panel
    original).

NOTE: When the HP all-in-one device works in ink-backup mode, a message is
displayed on the screen. If the message appears and two print cartridges are installed
in the product, check that the piece of tape plastic protection has been removed
each print cartridge. When the plastic strip covering the contacts of the print cartridge, the product
cannot detect the cartridge is installed.

  • HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one: HP Deskjet 2540 does not print

But when I print the test page, which printed fine.

    6. On your Mac, click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
    7. Hold down the CTRL key and click on an icon of your printer on the left.

I'm afraid there is no way to get a CD with the drivers and software for Windows 8.  The only option is to download.  Normally the download will have the same software that the CD anyway, if you're not losing anything by installing the printer in this way.  I'm not sure that all software is delivered with the latest software, but it should be more, if not all of the software you got with previous versions.
