Hello

Don't you see any yellow exclamation or code in Device Manager?

Follow the steps below and check them off if they help.

Step 1:

a. you could try to double-click on the icon of the sound of the clock in the system tray, (it looks like a gray speaker on XP)

b. click on the tab options, then go to properties and check that the microphone is checked.

c. click OK and look at the window volume control and make sure that the "Mute" box is not checked.

Step 2:

If that doesn't help, check the Device Manager for little yellow exclamation mark or a red X on the sound equipment. If you spot one of these, you can try to update the drivers and see if the problem still occurs.

See the article below to enter the Device Manager and update drivers:

Hi guys, I'm Italian, so, sorry for my English. I bought a microphone, but when I plug it into my PC, nothing seems to be happening, I tried to record my voice with the sound recorder, but no sound was recorded. I also checked if the microphone is recognized by my pc in the Audio section of the Control Panel, but there just the Realtek Audio, one incorporated into the PC. I have an Asus with Windows 7, and I've updated all the drivers so I don't really know where is the problem. When I tried to select the microphone, appeared something like this:

    Speech recognition

Your default corrent speech engine does not support this action at this time.

Any idea? Thank you and sorry for my bad English

Thank you very much! I solved the problem to the USB port. My fault, I didn't try sooner!

  • HP 355 G2: Camera and Microphone not recognized on laptop HP 355 G2 (JOY62EA #ABU)

I bought this laptop on 13 August 2015, but I managed to fix my Samsung laptop & kept the HP in its unused box as a spare.

I decided to upgrade to Windows 10 before July 29 but before I did I checked the laptop to make sure that everything worked and now I find that the webcam internal or the internal microphone works.

In Device Manager it is not an audio inputs and outputs, nor is there an entry for Imaging devices & YouCam5 says also that there is no webcam connected.

Video controllers & audio game it shows

    AMD High definition Audio Device

    CyberLink WebCam driver virtual

    Realteck Audio Definition High

All three are displayed as smoothly and drivers are shown as being up-to-date.

After trying many fixes, I came to the conclusion that it is a hardware failure, unless anyone knows differently.

If I upgraded to Windows 10 & then send it to repair will be HP accept for repair because I can't turn round before July 29.

P.S. The laptop is in his out-of-the-box factory status not being hit & no added software.

Any suggestion will be welcome, thank you for reading my post.

Create your recovery for existing installation media.

If you can get the system to migrate to Windows 10, the "digital license" for Windows 10 will be registered for you by Microsoft.

You can, if you wish, to migrate to Windows 10 and then use the "Back" feature to "undo" migration.  Your digital license is still in 'security' when you are migrating (yet) at a later date.  If you "turn" the computer will return to its original Operating Sytem - no worries for repair.

You can install Windows 10 later with the following caveats:

If the motherboard is replaced, it is likely to be a problem with activation - motherboard is part of Microsoft digital key management.  This does not mean that you can never go back to Windows 10; This means that you need to maybe talk to Microsoft and explain your situation.  At the very least, you may have to go through the "phone activation" - not painful, just painful and a lot of typing.

If you are migrating, and then the 'return' feature hesitate (fail), use your recovery media (as you did) to retrieve the original installation.

  • External microphone not recognized

I have a new Inspiron 5000 15, Windows 7 series. My headset has taken separate microphone/speaker, so I bought an adapter at RadioShack.

My speakers are fine, but the laptop does not use the external mic.

I temporarily connected a micro USB blue snowball, but I need to get the headset working.

Hello. Your screenshot shows that the micro usb is the default device. You must select the Reatek'a microphone as the value by default to make it work.

Regarding the maps, it is unclear what will work, if anything. Dell should provide a list of adapters that are known to work with each model having taking unfriendly combo, but of course it won't.

See article 6 of the headphone FAQ for a couple other adapters, you can try, but in the end, it might be easier to get just a usb headset or headphones to smart phone.

  • Inspiron 15r-5537 portable external microphone not recognized

My laptop has a combo with a picture of a helmet on the subject, but when I plug the headphones only the helmet part works even if the computer fails to recognize the microphone. I know that this is not a problem with the microphone as I tested it on my phone and it works perfectly.

    Specs: windows 8.1 64-bit, 15r 5537, card realtek sound

I don't know what comes with this Realtek audio driver. I have a combo Jack too, but my laptop is a Latitude with IDT. My recording tab has options for "Jack Mic" and "internal microphone".

Try to go into the control panel and see if there is a list for Dell or Realtek Audio Manager. If there is maybe a few options here, I don't know.

  • Tecra Z50-A-181-built in microphone not working/not found

    Hello!

I recently bought for laptop Toshiba Tecra Z50-A-181 supplied with Windows 7 64 bit (have 8.1, too but never installed it).

Anyway, once I started using it, I discovered that the microphone is not functional or not recognized at all.
So, what happens is that, once that I plug my headphones into the audio handset Jack / micro, whoever I'm talking (on Skype, for example) to stop to hear me (and my camera is on).

I tried several things mentioned in other topics, however, the problem does not turn off. In addition, there is no driver for the camera or the bed at the microphone, or whatever.

In Device Manager there is no extra, unrecognized device and in sound recording options /, no other microphone to use appears.

I will appreciate if someone can help.
    Thank you in advance!

You have a problem using an external microphone?
Your laptop is preinstalled with original image of recovery for all the necessary drivers must be installed.

You can use internal mic? It should be listed under recording devices.

  • External CD/DVD RW drive not recognized by Windows XP

Original title: Professional. Have an advantage humbucker 16 X 8 DVD/CD RW & ATi Radeon 9550 AGP 250 M for video and VGA that is not recognized

Have a double microphone 16 X 8 DVD/CD RW advantage which is not recognized by XP Professional.  Also have a CD unit and when windows installs the drivers - it gives them both the same driver.  DVD RW is only recognized as a CD! Have used Microsoft fixit and he says everything is fine. -It uses the same driver for CD and DVD RW units.

Have also an ATi Radeon 9550 AGP 250 M for the video and VGA and Windows XP does not - have question marks for them in Device Manager.  Microsoft fixit - did fix this problem.

Have deleted the drivers and tried to control the computer for downloads by Microsoft and it can't find them - if I do a check for hardware changes, he finds only those who do not work properly and that don't work at all, as indicated above.

Also went on the Microsoft Web site and cannot find a solution it - clicked on links with any help that I could see.

Sorry for the problem - just fusterated

    e. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    f. in the right pane, click LowerFilters.

    g. in the Edit menu, click on delete.

    h. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    i. exit the registry editor.

    j. restart the computer.

  • Inspiron 15R 5537 helmet is not recognized.

So I bought 5537 yesterday with win8. When I plug my headphones, it is not recognized. Audio continues to play through speakers. I've seen people with the question the other way where speakers did not work for them but because of helmet. The helmet is not a microphone (this is the problem?) I have tried many headphones, none of them have been recognized. I was on the last commands of Realtech, I uninstalled to try if it works. But still not a go. :(

    Ashwas
The helmet is not a microphone (this is the problem?)

This should not be a problem. The headphone jack ("combo") will work with a smart phone earphones headphones or with ordinary headphones. The problem with taking the combo, it's that it will work only with smartphone headset microphones, not ordinary microphones.

If you had a problem caused by the wrong configuration, then re - install the audio driver would fix it. Try to reinstall the Realtek driver and if it does not then you probably have a hardware failure. Contact the technical support. You also have the option to return the laptop in the short period of return.

  • Peripheral PnP USB - muted, is unplug sound when not touched, "device not recognized" or a malfunction, etc...

Here is an exhaustive list I hope what happens (it's the Microsoft forums, so I think you guys are going to read a lot of information):

    • The sound on my PnP USB audio device cancels randomly without any reason. It is not to be touched at all, and often happens when I'm even not listen to all the sounds.
    • Before he died, it emits a blur in the helmet noise as it is to be disconnected or the cord is cut or something. I have to unplug it and plug it back several times to make it work.
    • It has been for several months, working properly, this month started anything, for about a week.
    • I can't use my headset because it is loose. I had the USB key to solve this problem, because it's too expensive get taking fixed. I did not buy the device at first hand, I got it from a family member who took my laptop in for repair and the guy he recommended and we sold two of these jacks.
    • When it goes off during a game, I can't sound to return. Sometimes I can fix it on a game (as Portal 2, for example) by going to options and change the type of sound (or any) what's called it headphones to speakers, then back to the helmet. However, the game freezes often when the sound goes off and I have to remove the usb key, and in this case the game should also be repeated. In addition, everything has sound options like that.
    • This happens randomly, but it tends to happen every five minutes or every few seconds, and coincidentally it almost always happens during a loading on a video game screen.
    • It is not always give me a warning sound, especially on the games. He's just quiet.
    • Device Manager does not display a point of exclamation or question marks next to any audio device and the key USB pnp is indicated correctly. In the options of the sound in the Control Panel, there is of the sound bars next to the USB key that indicates that his is read, but it is not in playback mode. The USB pnp is listed as default device, so don't tell me to do. The microphones are turned off as well.
    • It does the same thing in all my usb ports.
    • The driver is up-to-date and meant for Windows 7.
    • I do not install the Windows updates. Updates are bad.
    • Box for what he calls a "USB stereo Audio Adapter external" StarTech.com, or "ICUSBAUDIO". It came with a disc that I used to install the driver, and I went on their website to get one for Windows 7 specifically and installed.
    • I use a computer laptop 64 bit Windows 7. In Device Manager, there are three things listed under sound: Realtek High Definition Audio Intel (r) display Audio and USB PnP Sound Device. None of the USB devices have exclamation points.
    • For the first time today, when the usb unplug sound, my computer tells me "Device not recognized" and said it could have malfunctioned. When I clicked on it for more information, he said that he could not tell me what the usb was even because it was not plugged in, which was not true. I also had a window appears which has tried to install the device driver (already installed) and then was told that the unit had been disconnected before he could do (not true). It just happened, for the second time today a few seconds ago.
