A phone call to Microsoft technical support trying to supposedly help to fix a PC infection
Hello
FYI, I received a phone call in Somerville tonight of a number blocked a man with bad English. Maybe Indian, who claims to be from Microsoft Technical support telling me that he needed me to turn on my computer to correct an infection. He gave me 213-221-3528 recalled, I tried, but does not seem to be a real company. I think it was a con man.

Microsoft Technical Support phone scam
Hello, I recently received a call (about 5 minutes ago) from Microsoft. They claimed to be Microsoft technical support. They told me that my computer has sent a lot of warning and error messages to Microsoft. They said that messages and stuff said that my computer had downloaded malicious software malware and it could damage my system and internal hard drive. Then they told me that they did not answer me and now called for helping me solve this message. (I stopped to think about what they said because I had been having a lot of problems of slow boot and Windows taking almost 5 + minutes to start). So I played along for a while, but only for a minute. The first guy says let me connect to our senior technical specialist or something like that. Then I logged. The second guy says: "Hello my name is ___ Snyder (I remember only the family name)." They have given me in my observer of events and after I hung up with suspicion and Bishop/confidentiality. They tried to call me again, but I rejected the call. Please give me advice on this issue. I want to know if it's a scam to take over my computer and steal my identity, etc. or is it really Microsoft tries to help to fix my computer.
Some info on the "technical support guy":
Both were men. We had a strong accent from the Middle East while it had a slight accent Middle Easterners to it.
One of the men claimed to be the main _ (don't remember the average Word) specialist. It was called _ (don't remember the name), said Snyder.
Track of the location of the call. Approximate location is the New Hampshire, USA. This is as far as I know
Help, please! Also give suggestions on anything that might be necessary to change etc.Hello

When you run a full scan by McAfee, my computer comes in a file named "ultrWW.cab" and turns off.
McAfee said to contact Microsoft technical support on this subject
What a lame excuse.
Make an indication where ultrWW.cab? See this thread on a similar problem with Kaspersky AntiVirus: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=80688
If the file that causes the problem is in a subdirectory of C:\MSOCache, you can remove the entire C:\MSOCache and all its subdirectories, but use disk cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK) to do. Read both of these items first:

I continue to receive phone calls, saying they are Microsoft technical support they said that I have problems with my computer and press the windows button and r to pick up errors in the event they then gave me a code to seek this place which grew up mistakes they said then that they would pass me to a technician who would delete these for me and to speed up my compy before it crashed .i their said that I was on my way while they ring back later I'm good at persuming this is a scam and could they have already gotten access to my computer
If the scammers already accessed your computer depends on if you gave them access to your computer.
Suggest you read the following:

I have recently installed Windows 10 free update. Now I am unable to delete .pdf files and get the invalid error message "Function MS-DOS." It has never been a problem with the previous Windows 8.1. I contacted Microsoft technical support and they told me there is a problem with the .pdf application and I need to contact Adobe Acrobat. This can be corrected?
uninstall any version of acrobat is installed.
clean by Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat tool - Adobe Labs
Restart your computer.
delete all to delete pdf files.
If this fails, it is a problem of ms. If this attempt is successful, then reinstall your acrobat.

Microsoft technical support can't help you with the faulty Modules Installer.
I have pleasures with support by e-mail dated December 18 and the subject of some updates that caused the Windows Modules Installer to stop working. Here are the steps that have been taken so far:
1. reboot the failet installation service.
2 direct download of Trustinstaller.exe and Trustinstaller.reg.
3. transfer of support tech System Info of MSINFO32.
4 Indentifcation updates specific causing the crash of the installer of Modules and make a direct download of them.
5 reset Internet Explorer options and disabling third-party browser extensions.
6 direct download of the tool.
7 supply tech with screenshots of SFC.exe and CheckSUR.log.
8 run the SFC/scannow command to request of the tech. Error message received after scan 25% over that he can't finish.
9. made by tech to perform an in Place Upgrade of my installation disks. Update could not happen due to Windows PowerShell.
10. made by tech to remove Windows PowerShell via "Turn Windows features on or off." Error message that PowerShell cannot be disabled.
11. realized by tech to modify the registry to disable the PowerShell. In Place Upgrade always reports installed PowerShell and would not continue.
12. looked for Windows PowerShell among the "installed updates". There is no update labeled "Windows PowerShell" listed.
So that is where I am now. Windows Update did not work except for the occasional definition for Microsoft Security Essentials update since mid-December. No security updates or patches cannot install properly by the installer of Modules of Windows crash. I can't repair my installation of Windows because I can't uninstall Windows PowerShell. If someone is able to help, please keep in mind that I read all the posts about how to uninstall Windows PowerShell through the registry and installed updates; None of them have worked for me; so please don't cut and paste these instructions again.
Thanks to anyone who can help me.

I got a message from MS on buying a desktop stand for $99. Just what is this? What this will give me beyond what I get by just "cat"? Last month, the 'cats' were not very useful. I feel that I work with high school students. Thank you
This message was fraudulent. It came not from Microsoft. MS does not call people and it does not send the offers of support.

Microsoft Technical Support phone Scam - how did get my cell number?
I am so happy that I have look into this after the phone call from "support"!
Yesterday, my computer took a long time to update so I turned it off to see what has been updated. 30 minutes. later, I get a call from a Middle Eastern guy, indicating that he was from Microsoft and my computer was not send or receive updates. My first thought was how he got my number? Its a new number? And to my knowledge not connected with anything online. And the last I spoke with someone from my computer with my old cell phone number. So I was confused and shocked someone contacted me on my computer. Well I guess fortunately I didn't feel well "of female personal problems" and I broke! LOL the number was "unavailable" and I got 5 calls before his time even, so I ask was he seeking him was him calling all the day? I just let him talk, but I heard her ask if I was by my computer o he could show me what he was talking about.
I was actually on my computer, so I told her I was and I was not having any problem. and if its not not broken need to repair anything and it was not in my computer. Then he hung up. So I'm
wonder how he did get my new number and how did think I haven't update my computer? I usually let my computer do an automatic update on its own, but I think now I'll go and see what is updated. I still have the protection on my computer, I use Kaspersky and run aclean one per week. but lately its been bad driving and I just thought that its time for a new, he is 3 years old. So I'm thinking that someone already has some kind of access to my computer?
* Also I blocked all unknown callers with the soft privacystar *.
It is a scam and has nothing to do with Microsoft. Do not give them any information.
They could have gotten your telephone number of 1 million different ways. After being on a marketing list, to the lists of random dialing of numbers of malware on smartphone Android phones a friend who has your stored number on it.
