Missing logical switch

Hi all

Having a problem with my NSX test harness and a logical switch that I created that disappeared a little GUI and API.  Details are on my blog here:

M80ARM - Warrior of Virtualization: missing logical switch in the GUI of NSX

Someone has any ideas then let me know

Thank you

Michael

OK, so I think that we have at the bottom of this. It looks like the request for deletion of the LS was issued when the environment the single controller was not available for some reason any.

2014-07-02 13:40:55.734 http-nio-127.0.0.1-7441-exec-18 ControllerServiceImpl:692 it'S INFO - delete lswitch NAV = ae65a47b-ad6d-4ff1-ac4c-6b65df2ec7a4

2014-07-02 13:40:55.735 VirtualWireServiceImpl:815 http-nio-127.0.0.1-7441-exec-18 TSB WARN - ignoring exception: "all controllers are inactive" during the abduction of lSwitch ae65a47b-ad6d-4ff1-ac4c-6b65df2ec7a4.

Manager of NSX then remove trade and other whatnot, but stubmbed when it came to deleting virtual wire:

2014-07-02 13:40:57.272 VirtualWireServiceImpl:1060 http-nio-127.0.0.1-7441-exec-14 it'S ERROR - virtual wire virtualwire-6 could not be found.

2014-07-02 13:40:57.273 RemoteInvocationTraceInterceptor:87 http-nio-127.0.0.1-7441-exec-14 TSB WARN - VsmHttpInvokerServiceExporter remote call treatment resulted in a fatal exception: com.vmware.vshield.vsm.vdn.facade.VdnInventoryFacade.getUiVirtualWire com.vmware.vshield.vsm.exceptions.ObjectNotFoundException: core-services: 202: the object requested: virtualwire-6 could not be found. Object identifiers are case-sensitive.

What we flew upward with the situation is when the controller has even VNI, but doesn't have a manager of the NSX (and no exchanges for DVS).

How we recovered:

(1) change control TZ 'Multicast' airplane mode, asking it to convert large companies at the same

(2) remove the controller who thought he had the NAV.

(3) to deploy a new controller, wait until he is fully online

(4) convert TZ in unicast mode, asking him to conversion of large companies to the same

That looks like to back the LS 'lost' in the user interface.

Moral of the story: Please try to have the recommended number of controllers (which is three) available.

  • Logical switch without DLR

If I choose not to deploy a DLR, but deploy logical switches, can I still make all routing on my physical routers?  Of course, this is not recommended, but is it possible?

You would need something method to get traffic from the logical to the physical network switches.  Traffic on these switches logical in order to join the physical network to one of the two or three things:

    1. bridge the VXLAN with a VLAN (logical switch in distributed port group).  6.2 NSX, this requires a DLR.

    2. connect the logical switch to a service gateway to dashboard as the default gateway and the uplink of the service gateway to point to a group of ports based on the VLAN.

    3. I also believe that you can add a VTEP parameter based on the equipment, which will act as a bridge between the logical switch and a VLAN physics.

  • Parameter ID of tenant - logical switch creation of NSX

    Hey everybody,

I use the workflow of logical switch of the NSX in VRO library. For the workflow, one of the parameters is TenantID.

Can someone give me more information about this setting? It is not necessary to create the logic switch while actually does?

    Thank you

    Hi Dean,

According to me, it's there for compatibility with Openstack/Neutron.

In Openstack, it is used to specify the owner of a subnet/switch etc..  This is an optional parameter to Openstack too by the look of it.

  • Logical switches on Compute Cluster

    Hello team,

I have installation of superposition in which all my computing clusters are part of the same Transport Zone.

I want to create logical switches as it is present only on some (not all) - is it possible?

    Thank you

    Vishal

The duration of logical switching will be dictated by the Transport area so, short of having several, I don't think that you can do. Areas of transport were not traditionally positioned as border security - what is the use case you want to meet by limiting the scope of some grapes?

  • Cannot create a logical switch

    Hello

Recently I tried to migrate from my transport VXLAN area to a new distributed virtual switch. Everything from the Installation of NSX page seems good. The controllers are all green, home preparation tab looks like (for the most part) well (more on that in a second) and the Transport of VXLAN and areas of Transport sections all good glance as well.

The problem is that when I go to create a new logical switch, I get a vague answer from the GUI after hitting 0% task in the recent task pane: "the last operation has failed for the entity with the following error message. . Internal server error has occurred. »

The NSX Manager log file is much more detailed. It seems to me that there is something seeking NSX that is not registered, or something that is registered that NSX does not expect. No idea how I can fix this problem? The only thing I suspect is that maybe the vSphere cluster empty has no host configured for VXLAN (config in VXLAN Transport State is "not configured"), but I was part of the cluster Transport area.

Here is the log file that contains the generated errors when I tried to create a logical switch.

I restarted Manager NSX, but it did not help.

Are you familiar with the NSX via the REST API management?  Run this through the REST API to force remove.

    DELETE https:/172.22.58.74/api/2.0/vdn/controller/controller-16?forceRemoval=true

Assuming that 172.22.58.74 is the IP of NSX Manager and controller-16 is the name of the controller.

Once it's over, migrate the multicast transport area.  Then, redeploy controllers.  Once completed, migrate the area of transport in Unicast mode.  Then, try to create a logical switch.

  • Exchanges, associated with logical switches

Anyone able to decode the naming convention exchanges created by the switches logical as I understand the network of public transportation is the name of the logical switch and 5000 is the VXLAN id, but what are the other words given here I just want to understand. Screenshot attached.

    Taking a part:

    vxw-DVS-22-virtualwire-1-sid-5000-Web-Tier

    In parts:

vxw-> VXLAN-VirtualWire to distinguish the ports group which was created by vShield/NSX

DVS - 22-> vDS Moref (check in mob: https:///mob/)

    virtualwire - 1-> vwire id vShield/NSX

SID - 5000-> Code segment uses what this thread is

Web - Tier-> name of the wire/virtual pass which gave you in the GUI

The last one is for the port of vTEP-group to which is connected the vmkernel for VXLAN. In the same way it uses using the dvs-22 as the id of dVS and he received a unique UUID at the end.

    Does that help?

    Kind regards

    Roland

  • No logic switches available to add to the logical router

I did something that was pretty stupid as always in my lab.  I had 3 logical switches that were assigned to an area of global transport that was attached to all 3 of my bunches.  I decided that I wanted all the logical switches attached to all clusters, so I deleted the form of Exchange clusters.  Bad idea!  Other that an alert on the logical switches, everything seemed ok.  I then decided to create areas of transport for each individual cluster and configure the environment in the right way instead of ugly alerts.

I created 3 additional transport areas, 1 for each of my cluster and everything looked good.  Then, I created a logical switch and attached to the box for one of my bunches.  However when I try to attach it to my logical router it shows not available.  I even tried to create a router of additional logic and no dice.  If I create a logical network and attach it to my area near global, it turns out very well.

No idea what I do wrong?

It was a problem of pedcak on my part.  I didn't not deploy logical routers to disparate groups so there's no Tin area of transport suitable for logical switches to connect to.  OPPS.

  • The virtual machine on the logical switch NSX cannot communicate

    Hi all:

My switch logic has been created and two virtual machines have been added, the virtual computer network are also connected to distributed port group, but the virtual machine of two Ping unreasonable. Two virtual machines can solve their MAC, the firewall is closed at both ends. Who can tell me why.

    Thank you very much

    Two things:

1 try to run a traceflow between the two involved VMS network cards.  This should show you where the ventilation that is happening.  It might be a rule DFW or VTEP cannot speak for some reason any.

    2. its possible that the netcpa service is hooked on the host.  This is the process that communicates with the controllers.  For the involved hosts SSH and run the following command:

    restart the /etc/init.d/netcpad

  • Missing frontcamera switch

    Hello

Does anyone know how to start the front camera in the camera application? I can't find the switch between the front and back.

I think he was one before upgrade (or remember wrong?)

    Maybe its only Samsung has...

    Concerning

  • Logical switches NSX and the VGT Mode

    Hello

I think that the answer is "", but just to play it safe, I can assume that VGT is not supported for virtualwire Port groups?

Configurations allows good defune vlan trunking, but my thought is that we need a one-to-one relationship between vlan id and vxlan vnid - (if at all a vlan-id is used for example for purposes of L2GW)

Issues occurred in the test of a nested environment...

    see you soon

    / Rik

We do not support the DLR passage with tagging VLAN comments. There must be L2 only... VM VM (in a VXLAN) or VM-to-VM(Software L2 bridging).

  • For the State Machine logic makes me Mad, ideas?

    Hello

I am a complete newbie to Labview and up to the help of kind people on the forum and tutorials tips, State where I implement a state machine.  However, I can't it behave using logic.

What I try to do is to test the relay using an automated test procedure.

The procedure takes the following measures:

    1. a card reader and transistor NI9472 DO turns the relay power via the power of the coil (needs of the variable time period). (It's OK)

    2. account of how can cycles the relay contacts worked, it will easily exceed 100,000 cycles. (It's OK)

    3. every 10 cycles (new variables), the contacts are held closed, load circuit "15A in the state machine" (the current relay is switching, which will be 15 a at 30V) is turned off.

    4. While the State of 15A is off, I need to switch to 'State of 1' and the 'State of the measure' , that it allows the measure to take.

    5. Finally, the "State measure and the"State of A 1"must be turned off and the"15A State switched back on .

    6. this process continues for another 10 cycles and repeats.

I tried to do by using the States and the logical selection function for different States, where she part works, it does not seem to flow completely.  I'm I missing logic.

Hoping someone may be able to help, thanks

    Andy

I really didn't thing you want to be returning this Boolean value in all States.  You should probably also have a different evolution register for each line of output.  Then you simply adjust those that you need to.

  • Can I configure NISE with a switch of party - if the switch is not installed?

I've never used NOR Switch before Executive - we hope to use it on a new project.

We do not have equipment at the moment - we will use a Pickering 40-540-021 '132 x 4' switch.

I would like to configure NI Switch Executive before Pickering delivered cards, is it possible? I get an error when I create the NI Switch Executive virtual device. Seems that MAX is trying to communicate with the switch card before allowing me to configure routes/exclusions/groups etc..

Here's what I've done so far:

    -Install the drivers of Pickering.

-To the MAX (v5) I have setup a session driver IVI and logical name.

When I try to create a new NI Switch Executive peripheral virtual, I add the logical name of the switch, click [next] and get the NISE error...

"An error occurred so they were trying to access the devices PROJECTSWITCH. The primary error: unknown status code (Hex 0xBFFA400C).

I see that a virtual device is created with no logical switch assigned. I get the error even if I try and add a logical switch manually to the virtual device NISE.

Is it because the switch Board is not available for the system? Can I configure the routing/groups/exclusions without the device being mounted physically switch?

    Thank you

    Alan

    Alan.

Seems that MAX is trying to communicate with the switch card before allowing me to configure routes/exclusions/groups etc..

This should be the expected behavior. NEITHER Switch Executive tries to communicate with the instrument before allowing you to configure routes to ensure that there is no problem that would affect the operation of the Switch Executive. In your case the pilot trying to communicate with a non-existent device.

I would like to configure NI Switch Executive before Pickering delivered cards, is it possible? Can I configure the routing/groups/exclusions without the device being mounted physically switch?

It is possible that all compatible IVI devices should have the ability to simulate.

It seems that you have configured your session of IVI driver incorrectly for a simulated device. I try and make sure that in the session driver, under the 'Général' tab, select the drop down menu to "Simulate with" and select 'Specific driver' and then click 'Save the IVI Configuration'. This will return the Pickering driver selected in the 'software' tab and simulate a device. This should allow you to create a virtual device NI Switch Executive and develop and test the code on the simulated instruments.

I would like to know if you have any other questions.

  • LAG does not not after more Guide of switch Configuration for EqualLogic San steps in the document.

We use the information provided in the following document: i.dell.com/.../dell-networking-n4000-series-switch-configuration-guide-for-equallogic-sans.pdf

We have two switches of N4032F which are stacked and followed almost word for Word from this document.  We do not use DCB.  We are trying to set up a SHIFT and follow-up step 2.11 in the document, but it seems that the SHIFT does not work.

    Switch 1:

    serial interface fortygigabitethernet 1/1/1-2

    No spanning tree portfast

    active in mode channel-group 1

    Switch 2:

    interface series fortygigabitethernet 2/1/1-2

    No spanning tree portfast

    active in mode channel-group 2

However, when it was discovered after changing these settings it shows them as being inactive.

    Can someone please help?

    Thank you

    Jeff

Thanks for the additional information. When the switches are stacked, they act as a logical switch. Then when you plug with an OFFSET you are basically creating a loop and hook up a switch on himself. Desempilement switches and just use the OFFSET for the interconnection of the switch and you should see the GAL go active.

  • Media Center missing completely Windows 7 even after turning on and the features of windows

Media Center Windows 7 even completely missing after switch on and the features of windows.  windows edition version 64-bit home premium

Do you have Windows Media Center on this installation of Windows 7?

You have Windows 7 Edition home premium N which does not come with all the features of the Home Premium edition standard media? Please see:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/products/What-is-Windows-7-N-edition .

If you think that you should have it, try:

    1. open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and navigate to the folder:

    C:\Windows\ehome\

    2. search for a file named ehshell.exe (which is the executable for Windows Media Center file). If its there, you can just click on and select Pin to TaskBar or Start Menu, etc.

  • Switches Cisco stackable, 500 and the consolidation of NETWORK cards

Am looking using the stacking and NIC teaming to create redunancy for user access to servers. What I think is becoming 2 switches SG500-28 and set them up in a stack which appears as a logical switch. Now on the servers I have re 2 network cards to be a team so that they appear as a logical interface 1, perferably in an active/active configuration using LACP. In this team NIC take 1 member of the team to either switch B, so that each Member of the team is on separate switches.

    Givent the scenario:

    (1) who will work with the switches of the 500 series? The switches is that their price point is perfect for my client.

    (2) in addition, the connection of the battery will be there also needs to be a GAP between the switches or the connection of the battery is also data traffic?

    Hi Robert,.

    (1) I don't see any reason that this would not work as desired. There are the requirements by doing a SHIFT but being on the same physical switch isn't a.

    (2) with the switch of SG500 line, you have a few options for up/down the link between the switches to the battery, it depends on the model. Each of them supports 1 G up and down links with copper. The switches are then divided and support 5G or 10G mini-gbic down links. There is not currently an options trolling battery links.

Let me know if that answers your questions!
