First thing to do is to ensure that the print spooler just does not work but it is actually present on your machine.

    Search in C:\Windows\system32 spoolsv.exe

If it is there, look in C:\Windows\system32\dllcache

If not, look for whole hard disk, to search in hidden files and folders, as well as system records for spoolsv (without the exe on the end).  Report what you find, including versions of file.

Post back to your search results.

  • print spooler is missing Windows xp services

Hi my daughter using a fujitsu siemens laptop running windows xp edition version 2002 service pack 3 family. We have tried to install 2 different printers, but always get says print spooler does not. I checked in the service and there is nothing indicated for printers or print spooler. I looked in c\windows 32 and there are 2 files of coil it but I do not know what to so that it reappears in the services and I can turn it on. can anyone help please?

Man that's great, as I must have contracted a virus that deleted my services print spooler. Made exactly as stated in the information and then rebooted and it works perfectly now. Really appreciate the help!

While it is definitely a good read, none of these links seem to tell you how to add the lack of Print Spooler Service and the Microsoft link certainly not will help you add the Service lacks and is a waste of time.

The Print Spooler Service missing Services, you must add it (how do you suppose that happened?).

I don't have XP Home Edition, but this method works on XP Pro and I do not see why it would be different.

Here's how to add the Print Spooler Service:

If your system is Windows XP Service Pack 3, you can add the Service of print spooler missing to your system by using a registry import.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:
    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

Reinstall the missing Print Spooler Service by creating a registry file that you can import into your system (tested on Service Pack 3).

If you already have a registry entry for the Print Spooler Service, you can export it to a file and save it.  The following example is the code of a working XP Pro Service Pack 3 system generic registry.

Open notepad to create a new text file by clicking Start, run and enter in the box:

Save the new text file with extension .reg to your desktop or a folder with a name you can remember, something like:

    addspooler.reg

After you save the file, close Notepad.

Locate the file addspooler.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the addspooler.reg file, choose open with... and select the registry editor which will then import the file.

Answer Yes to the following question: are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

I would restart at this stage to ensure that updates "stick."

Now you should see the Print Spooler Service and you can right click, choose Properties and (if she isn't already) set the startup type to automatic and start the service if it is not running after reboot.

Sine the Print Spooler Service should not be missed, I suggest you follow with this (or first):

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
  • How can I get the print spooler to start when the file is missing: lexbces.exe? where can I download this file?

I TRIED TO RE-INSTALL MY HP WIRELESS PRINTER AND IT WOULD NOT INSTALL. I HAVE RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT THE PRINT SPOOLER WAS NOT WORKING AND STOPPED. I have TRIED TO START THE PRINT SPOOLER AND FOUND what IT MISSING THE lexbces.exe FILE. I THINK THAT WHEN I UNINSTALLED THE HP PRINTER, HE WALKED OUT OF THIS FILE. IT IS IN THE SYSTEM 32 AND A FILE OF REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL. DOWNLOAD THIS FILE OR DO I HAVE TO RE-INSTALL WINDOWS XP?

Lexbces.exe is from Lexmark (or Dell-badged Lexmark) printer install.  When the Lexmark printers are installed, they configure the print spooler to depend on Lexbces.  Unfortunately, when you uninstall the software Lexmark, the uninstall program removes the file but does not have the print spooler dependency.

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following line in the black command prompt window and press enter

dependent on the spooler of sc config = RPCSS

Note that there is no space before the = but there is a space after it.

    Restart the computer.

See the instructions on One Article to do a clean installation of your printer.

After the restart, you can check that the print spooler has started in several ways.  One way is:

Open a command prompt window and type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    spooler request SC

You should see the following in the command prompt window:

    spooler request SC

    Service_Name: Spooler
    TYPE: 110 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)
    STATE: 4 RUNNING
    (STOPPABLE, NOT_PAUSABLE, ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN)

    Hi all

    Fixed a problem.

It turns out the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Providers must be cleaned too - delete all subkeys (and their values) EXCLUDES the Internet Provider LanMan Print Services and printing keys (and their values).  A reboot is required.

Hope it will be useful for people who have this problem in the future.

Thanks for these folks spend their time to respond or read my question.

    See you soon,.

  • Missing startup programs, printers uninstalled and run used print spooler

    Hi guys,.

The title really says it all.   I am running XP.
I tried to use my scanner but it will not work properly.
I tried to use my printer laser hp 8000 and Canon S800 deskjet.   They are more installed and when I try to install I get an error that says that the print spooler is not running.
All programs are missing in commissioning.   If I click on programs, then I can find them.
Any ideas?   I ran, but I'm not all that good in the first place.
    TIA
    Greg

"Missing programs" indicate likely malware infestation.  What do you use for an antivirus application and is his current subscription?  Have you let the subscription expires?

Start with the download, install, update and run an analysis complete with each of these tools free amtimalware.  Do not run the scans at the same time.  Each is likely to take some time, so have something else to do.

    MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
    SUPERAntiSpyware

    Now for the symptoms.

Hidden entries in the start menu > all programs

Beginning > menu all programs is a combination of two folders (directories) on your hard drive:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users Menu
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Start Menu

If the subdirectories in one or both of the above is given to the "hidden" attribute, you will not see the corresponding entry when you click Start > all programs.  To check and fix this, right-click on the Start button and select "Open" or "Open All Users" (you should do as well until you're through).  In the window of Windows Explorer that opens, click Tools > Folder Options > view.  Click on the button "Show the hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)."  OK your way out.

Double-click the programs folder.  Any folder that is hidden will appear "disappear".  Right click on each hidden folder, and then select Properties.  At the bottom of the general tab, uncheck the 'hidden '.  Click OK.  Select "apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files. Click OK.  Do this for all the hidden folders.  When you are finished, go back to tools > Folder Options > view and the changes that you have made previously.

Repeat the above by right clicking on start and select open or open all users, no matter what you is not done everything first.

Print spooler does not and empty the folder printers and faxes

    A. Clean on print jobs pending

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line (don't forget the quotes)

    net stop spooler
    del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
    net start spooler
    output

    B. clean the old printer drivers and install the latest drivers by using the directions in One Article.  If you have (or had) a Lexmark printer, follow the instructions on this site before installing the new drivers, as explained in its first Article: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

    Hello

This error occurs because the spooler service has not been started or has stopped working.
It seems that this error is known to Microsoft and they decided to public an article in the knowledge base that could help solve this problem.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314876

As you say that the spooler service must be restarted.
To start the spooler service, follow these steps:
    1. click on start and then click Control Panel.
    2. double-click Administrative Tools and then click Services.
    3. double-click on the Printer Spooler service and then change the startup type to automatic. This option sets the spooler service starts automatically when you restart the computer.
    4. If you want to start the spooler service immediately, click the Start button under the Service status field

If you will not be able to restart the spooler service, you can try to restore the Windows operating system to the point initially by using the Windows System Restore tool.

My print spooler system component is missing from the remote procedure call.  If I restore it, I think that the print spooler is reactive.  Suggestions of curry hit Start, Program Files, accessories and they type net start spooler.  However, after the departure, I don't see any Program Files, so am unable to complete the suggested path.

  • the print spooler service may not be running

    Hello

I have 4 computers around here, and I'm trying to get a printserver running on one of them, so we have installed windows 2008, set up as a server to printing etc..
Now when I try to add the printer to my computer laptop windows 7, it works perfectly, and is the same for one of the windows xp workstations.
However, when I try to add the printserver on windows server 2003, it starts talking about missing drivers.

The printer is a HP LJCP3505 PCL6, and he is already working on a normal (eg. non-printserver associated) network.
I downloaded almost all the drivers, I could find from the HP website, but whenever I try to add them, it tells me that they are not valid drivers.
and on another computer windows 7, I get the following error message:

Could not connect to the printer.
On the server print spooler service could not be executed.
Restart the spooler or restart the server

(on a side note: it's a translated error message, our systems are not English)

I don't know if they are related, but I checked the print spooler service, and it was fine (auto startup, active etc.).
the same goes for its dependencies.

    Hi LeanderML,

Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for Windows Server on TechNet. Please ask your question in the Forums in Technet Windows Server.

  • How can I get my printer spooler running I get error 1075 when I try to start it

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

If you see something like this:

Cannot start service on Local computer print spooler.
Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

    Error 1075 means "ERROR_SERVICE_DEPENDENCY_DELETED".

This means that there is some Service think that it depends on to start the Print Spooler Service that is missing.  It's maybe the printing or drivers that have been uninstalled software.

If really, the dependency service exists and simply not work (dependence, Services must be started and running), you will get an error like this:

Cannot start service on Local computer print spooler.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group could start.

You now or you already had all of the installed Lexmark printers?

If the Service print spooler used to work well, do you have added or removed all printers since he worked?

To view your Services, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    services.msc

Click OK to open the Services Applet.

Highlight the Print Spooler Service, right-click and choose properties you can see what is happening.  You will be especially interested in the startup (generally set to automatic) type and the items listed in the Dependencies tab.

Always print spooler Service usually depends on the remote procedure call (RPC) Service is running, so if the remote procedure call (RPC) Service is not running, find it in your Services, launch it and set the startup type to automatic.

If the remote procedure call (RPC) Service is not listed as a dependency for the Print Spooler Service, you can add it.

You must see what Services depends on your Print Spooler Service, and then restart them (and their startup type automatic value), or if you have the dependency Services listed for items that are more installed on your system, you must inform the print spooler that she needs more of them to start.  Registered Addiction Services that are no longer needed must be removed.

For example, I said to my Print Spooler Service depends on the remote procedure call (RPC) Service, and also depends on the Service Jose (and of course there is no Jose service).

When I try to start my Print Spooler Service, I get an error 1075.  It's logical.

If I look at the Print Spooler Service properties Dependencies tab in the applet Services however, it does not list the Jose Service as a dependency, but if I query the Print Spooler Service broken from a command prompt, I can see what ir really depends on to start and it looks like this:

    [SC] GetServiceConfig SUCCESS

    Service_Name: Spooler
    TYPE: 110 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)
    STARTUP TYPE: 2 AUTO_START
    ERROR_CONTROL: 1 NORMAL
    BINARY_PATH_NAME: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe
    LOAD_ORDER_GROUP: SpoolerGroup
    TAG                               : 0
    Display_name: Print spooler
    DEPENDENCIES: rpcss
    Jose
    SERVICE_START_NAME: LocalSystem

I need to delete the Service jose as a dependency for the Print Spooler Service (and leave just the rpcss Service), then the Print Spooler Service will start.

If you don't see the problem in the Print Spooler service dependencies tab, see what are actually of a command prompt window Print Spooler Service dependencies.  To do this, click on start run and in the type box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

In the command prompt window, query the spooler to print (spooler) Service by entering the following command:

    sc qc spooler

Whatever it is listed under needs of DEPENDENCIES is running before starting the print spooler.

If there are DEPENDENCIES listed for things that are more installed, you can fix it, but first of all, we need to know what is indicated, then we can remove the ones that are not needed.

If you make adjustments, do not forget to restart your system and make sure that changes "stick".

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • Error 2: The system cannot find the specified file. Even after restarting the Printer Spooler service

I tried all of the suggestions posted and have had no success in restarting my print spooler. Help, please.

Original title: I tried to restart the print spooler as directed, and he returned the error 2: the system cannot find the specified file. He does that and is it fixable?

@Winston Microsoft M committed Support Engineer 'expert '.

I can see your response that you did take the time to reproduce the problem and then try your own ideas to check if the problem persists.

Here is what I suggest to you, so you can learn how XP actually works:

Start in the XP Recovery Console or Safe Mode, so Windows File Protection does not run.

Rename your file c:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe you can remember (such as spoolsv.bak).  Now, the file is "absent".

    Restart normally.

Then try to start the Print Spooler Service and you will see the error.

So why don't you follow your own advice and run SFC and troubleshooting automated (as you suggested) and check if the problem persists.

    Please report your results.

When you see that it does help and that SFC does not replace the missing or damaged file (in the system32 folder) and that the automated troubleshooter does not help, will sing it a different song (we hope).

Don't forget to rename your spoolsv.bak to spoolsv.exe when you're done messing around autour.
