• Win 8 homegroup sharing with password issue

  I have a few systems of windows 8 and I have joined in a homegroup. My question is, how can I do ask for a password when accessing the share? I've already enabled in advanced sharing settings of password protected sharing.

  Thank you for your answer, but I used the option of sharing folder for all my actions, but my other computers never requested a password when I access shares.

  ... But you use a homegroup, and this is what is passed, the credentials for the homegroup.  If you want to use standard network folder sharing, do not share the folder through the residential group option.
   
  In other words - if you want to be prompted for a network share of user name and password (valid user name and password you set up on the machine sharing the folder and gave permissions for the folder in question - the share permissions and file/folder) then you must STOP sharing this folder via homegroup on this computer and share it using Standard network share.

  My wife and I have a shared photo album, and I copied a picture inside. So I decided to crop the image, I did on the version in my own library. I was surprised that the changes appear in the shared image. Issues related to the:

  • Are changes as it's supposed to appear on the shared item?
  • When the images are 'shared' in this way, they only live in the cloud?
  • If I delete the original in my library, the "shared" version still there?

  No, after the shared photo editing, share the again edited version.

  They are stored on iCloud and downloads local shadow copies, which are visible in your library of Photos from your Mac.  But shared photos are not added to your photo library, unless you are importing.

  Yes, the shared version will remain in iCloud, until you remove the photo of your stream shared.

  Hi, when I try to enable sharing in Workstation 8 GTR | Change | Preferences | Sharing virtual machines, I get an error Impossible to configure the workstation server. Check the event log, I found they were trying to start the VMware Workstation Server service that does not start (even when you try to start it manually) and the following error is recorded "the VMware Workstation Server service stopped with service specific error %-1." by the Service Control Manager. I found no additional cases related.

  Running on Windows 7 SP1 x 64. The port is set to 7443.

  I also tried to find a newspaper there instead of vmware, but neither found anything related; However I could have missed something.

  I have Workstation 8.0.1 installed on two laptop computers each running Windows 7 SP1 x 64... the shared component of the virtual machine runs on one but not the other. On the machine that I have problems with I uninstalled Workstation and reinstalled - without success. What I ended up doing to replace the datastores.xml file in the Directory go (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\hostd) on the laptop with the problem with the file datastores.xml of the laptop that works - success! I knew that there was a problem with the file because I've been poking around and noticed that the datastores.xml file is not open for editing - it was corrupted.

  I have attached the file to this message.

  Change of the section at the location that you store your shared VM (be sure to not use a UNC, which breaks the service as well!).

  I shared my workstation with my roommate who has used Adobe CC (17), as it did not work on his laptop computer. apparently a trial version-

  now, I want to have my own annual subscription. Do I have to uninstall the Version of CC (17)?
  Of course I'd rather be in the suite of 2015, but in the past I had problems with Adobe when an earlier version used to be on the machine, so I want to just make sure that I can continue to work without hassle (oh the delay...).
  Is it possible to connect with my own subscription via Adobe Cloud and keep using the software already installed on the system? or will it be a question of law?

• SOLVED: PC Windows 7 cannot access remote shares or the

  I have a W7/64 PC that cannot access network shares. He has been installed from the original CD (simple installation) but never worked. Resettlement is not a preferred option because the client already has tons of data and applications on it.

  Other machines can access the local shares of this PC, but it can access any remote shares (on any other PC W7) or his own - in short customer service around file sharing does not work properly, although this machine can see all available actions... She just can't access. Other PC can access machines that cannot do this. Ping works fine in all cases.

  I'm trying to access here to all actions are available to all other machines of W7 in the network. (All machines are W7 boxes).

  Note how the workstation service is said not having started, but in fact has already started summer (which I checked in the list of services). In short, this does not appear be related to a service does not...

• Imprivata with a view?

  We are in the early stages of a POC using Imprivata on Terminal Wyse ThinOS, with Horizon see 6.2. Reading the documentation of Imprivata, they mention Citrix much more that they display, the so I'm curious to know if many people use this configuration.

  We seek to operate terminals in mode kiosk 99% of the time. That is to say a generic account draws a view Windows session, then users on their badge to provide their account information of Imprivata and quickly presented with the generic account Office. User taps again once it crashes, next user walks upwards, and then rinse and repeat, all on the same desktop. So far, we have seen mixed in our first tests results. Gets the generic user office, user 1 taps, gets their session with their creds, faucets and locks. 2nd user travels, taps and get the session but Imprivata still believes his user 1 on the desktop.

  I'm leaning towards him being our Wyse terminals config, which I am looking in addition today. Anyone who may be using a similar setup, I'd love to hear about it.

  On the BONES of this terminal, add the line to the INI to activate Imprivata OneSign:

  For the installation of the Agent of Imprivata on View Image relative to the Kiosk Mode (Type 1)

  1. install the Imprivata Agent, choose the option 'Shared kiosk Workstation.

• How Autostart is supposed to work for invited NT4?

  NT4 has no ACPI support so clean shutdown is not possible so activating Autostart (after shared virtual machine configuration) will always result in VM not to close properly. This does not work, but there is no mention of anywhere in the documentation.

  Why not the possibility to select suspend instead of shutdown? It's an easy solution to this problem for NT.

  For anyone interested, it works now.

  The solution includes the following:

    This was a problem because the host VMware process has high CPU when you switch to the softex hal.dll. The best approach, that is not the question of the CPU can be found here: How to turn off a computer virtual with Windows NT 4
  • A shutdown script custom configured in VMtools guest (thanks to wila for suggesting to use scripts). The script should call the shutdown.exe downloaded here: beyond logic Shutdown for NT/2000/XP) the "poweroff-s' will be put out of service and poweroff the VM of NT (after enabling ACPI support).
  • Implement the auto start/stop solution found here: the Virtual Machines VMware Autostart on Boot Linux | Tommy Butler -I did not use the feature of automatic start of the shared virtual machines as which implement not a hitchhiking. Solution of Tommy Butler took care of start and stop. (NOTE: there seems to be a slight problem with autostop working if the main workstation window is open when the reboot of the host/shutsdown - this is considered to be a minor problem and will most likely be resolved with a script to logoff if necessary).
  • There was a problem with inoperable invited NIC started automatically for VMs. A workaround solution has been found and listed here: network unusable for started automatically shared MV - workstation Pro 12

  Thanks again to all who have contributed. I am extremely satisfied with this result.

• VMware-viclient-all - 6.0.0 - 3016447.exe broke Console hosts 6.0 ESXi and ESXi 5.5

  The problem seems to be that many applications use the same folder c:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\VMware\VMware Remote Console Plug-in 5.5.

  And the uninstall program does not uninstall because it is shared by workstation.

  If you rename or delete the folder c:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\VMware\VMware Remote Console Plug-ins 5.5\ and then uninstall and reinstall VMware-viclient-all - 6.0.0 - 3016447.exe it works and install version 9.

  The latest version of the client is so 10 Workstaiton beta exposure, and nothing has updated the folder c:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\VMware\VMware Remote Console Plug-ins 5.5\ since it was installed.

  This is a problem if you do not install the vi client on a clean system, I think he needs a caveat in the installation process.

  Initially, I had many problems with PE8. However, the update of nVidia Driver resolved most of them.

IF I do this what do I burn through the outside of Adobe? What I need imgburn or whatever it was called? What happens if I like Nero? Nero 6 has worked very well for me for 3 years.

  So I am ready to uninstall my old optical drive burning software, who out there can recommend commercial software which, for them, creates a painless Adobe burning experience without errors or conflicts? Perhaps there is another solution that I've not seen on this forum?

  Since you are apparently able to burn to a folder on your hard drive, but not directly on a DVD, the problem is most likely that another program (Nero, for example) is interfering with communications between Premiere Elements and your DVD burner. This is very common.

  Rather than fight with it, the easiest solution is simply to burn your files on your hard drive and then use Nero (or whatever your burner program) to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a playable disc. This process takes no more time and offers a number of advantages, including the fact that he make several copies of your DVDs very easy.

• "Unable to connect to MKS" when connecting to the virtual machine shared

  I have a handful of Shared VMs Im trying to access remotely with VMware Workstation Pro 12 (same version on the client and the host - two Windows 10 machines). I am able to connect to the host that shares virtual machines, I can see all the virtual machines shared, open the virtual machine (as in it opens in a tab within the workstation) and virtually no action on the virtual machine including all power options, instant, change settings, etc.. The problem is that if I turn on a virtual computer (or connect to an existing virtual machine under tension, I get the following error and Im not able to access the actual console since it remains as a black screen.

  Unable to connect to the MKS: (name of user and password) Login incorrect.

  I also noticed that on the client Windows Event Viewer is to launch the following warning events at the same time that the error in the Workstation has been lifted - Im not seeing any on the host are thrown.

  

  

  I've seen a lot of posts here with users who run the question and he usually ended up being a network problem. I turned off the Windows Firewall on both machines, checked ports 443 and 902 listening on the host and Im in telnet from the client to the host on port 902. I also saw another suggestion for updating the client Windows hosts file to include [host name] [IP address] and [FQDN of the host name] [ip address], but this subject seems not helped either.

  Suggestions in this regard does not happen what keeps or where to find more information about the cause?
