  Yes it should not be a problem. The BIOS will not limit the size of a SATA hard drive and the recovery disc will work on a drive as large or larger than the original. You can also duplicate the old drive to the new or just use Windows Easy Transfer to create a 'migration' file that will restore your settings and files to the new drive after putting Windows on it. Then, when Windows 10 anniversary came out August 2 my pc automatically updated for the anniversary edition.   Hello, my HP Pavilion 23 (product #: H5Q13AA #ABA) suddenly had his CD/DVD-Rom stop working.

  It's an hp device. CdRom SATA DVD has DS8A9SH.  I tried uninstalling the driver and using the HP troubleshooting tool.  Nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?  The player is acting normally, apart from the computer not recognize (the disc spins when you put it in, etc.).

  I am running Windows 8.1 with all updated.

  When I try to update the driver, Windows says that it is up-to-date.  It gives me this error message in Device Manager:
