    Hello littleturley99,

Open internet explorer 9 and look in the upper right of the window. You will see an icon of the House, star and a wheel of gog. Click on t he cog icon wheel, and in the drop down menu, click 'about internet explorer '. Look in the window of internet explorer for the "force encryption". This should read 256 Bit.

  • Learn how to use encryption

I synchronize the contents of My Documents on my computer at home with my USB and am concerned about the security of content om stick. I thought that encryption would be a solution.

I created a test folder with some files which I have encrypted. Encryption seems to work OK, as the color of the file names change to green. I then synch'ed content with my stick, took the stick on another computer, and unfortunately, I read the "encrypted" according to normal files. The two computers can connect different usernames.

The content of the stick should have course? What am I doing wrong please?

The cause could be linked to the fact that a 'snap-in' certificate is not visible in the user account. Should it be? If the problem is caused by the fact he is not a digital certificate installed, so why not XP is asking me for the location of the certificate before she proceeded to encrypt?
    TIA... Greg

To add a bit of observation of Wunders it is possible to lose data if you use EFS, if you decide to use EFS, make sure to read and follow the best practices for EFS file system .  If you have no certificates backup or a specified recovery agent, sooner or later you will lose data.

If the key pair is lost or damaged and that you have not designated a recovery agent, and then there is no way to recover the data.

  • How to use encryption?

    Hi all

After the installation of Oracle db 11.2.0.1 on my laptop Win7, I received the following message from the end:

The database control URL is https://localhost:5500 / em

Repository management was placed in secure mode in which Enterprise Manager data will be encrypted.

The encryption key has been placed in the file: C:/app/dtc/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/localhost_orcl/sysman/config/emkey.ora.

Please ensure that this file is saved as encrypted data will be unusable if this file is lost.

How to use this file? Or how I validate/check if my data is encrypted on no?

How can I make unusable for the objective test?

    Thank you

    1 oracle isn't rocket science

2 you do not use this file, db control uses this file

3 obviously, when he's away access using SSL not working anymore

have 4 you even looked into it? It's a text file, so tampering he should not be a problem.

  • After that the SSD has been deleted, is it too late to use encryption for more security before selling?

My goal is to make my data inaccessible to the person who will buy my Macbook opportunity. While I'm fully aware that this is an almost impossible task to delete really an ssd, I read that if you encrypt everything before you wipe the drive and reinstall the OS, at least, the recovered data can be read.  However, I read these seemingly wise advice AFTER I had already deleted my Macbook and reinstalled the operating system.  So, the question is with my 'deleted' data and the operating system reinstalled, activation of encryption at this point will achieve my goal, or still will remain unencrypted data previously of the ' erased '?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    She will remain unencrypted.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 unable to use 128-bit encryption

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 running Windows XP SP1 with the card WiFi PA0307U-1MPC. Installed all the latest drivers listed for the 4600. I can connect to networks using 64-bit encryption, but can not enter the 128-bit encryption. Is it possible to use 128-bit encryption?

    Hello.

As far as I know that this unit is about 4 years old and at that time, it was impossible to use encryption 128-bit with this wireless network card and can be no change.

  • Using keys with 4096 bit RSA encryption

    Hello

I would use encryption RSA 4096 bit on BB device (for the test I use BB 8300 with 4.5.0.52 b75 OS).

Is this possible?  I am getting exception in this code:

    RSAKeyPair sampleKeyPair;
    sampleKeyPair = new RSAKeyPair (new RSACryptoSystem (4096));

Change of 4096 by 2048 solve this exception, but it is not the solution for me.

    Thank you.

    I answer myself.

After reading "Blackberry Enterprise Soluttion Security, Technical Overview", I found that I can use the 4096 bit encryption algorithm, but key generation is limited to 2048-bit (probably performance issue).

If the problem was not with

    new RSACryptoSystem (4096)

    but with the generation RSAKeyPair.

I had received an RSA private key from outside, so I need to generate a (at least in the current state of the project I'm working on)

I'm really curious to know, if someone know how to generate 4096 bit RSA key.

  • Question from Darren Chaker encryption

    Greetings,

Anyone know the literature on complete encryption of the disk used by Apple? As a fan of Apple, would like to know if the military-grade encryption. Thank you for your response (s).

2 FileVault uses AES 128 XTS encryption.

Use FileVault to encrypt the boot on your Mac - Apple Support disk

I don't think this can be considered as "military grade", because there are a lot safer. But it's not as if you can hack your way in a Sunday afternoon rainy.

    Hello

I recommend you do the BIOS update. Here you can compare the current version on your laptop, latest on the Toshiba download page.
Compare also the WLAN driver version.

After BIOS update the WLAN test new functionality. In a first time without any form of encryption.
    Please post the results.

    Hey everybody,

When I connect my Tohsiba Satellite Pro 4600 via map of build-in network without WEP wireless to an AP, there is no problem, connection is establische and everything works fine.
When I use WEP, I can't do any connection more.
Is there a solution to use encryption WEP 128 bit on a portable Thosiba Pro 4600 with build-in WIFI network.

What card WLan do you use?

As far as I know the laptop must be equipped with LAN Wireless / WiFi Standard: 802. 11B ORiNOCO Mini PCI card.
This card supports WEP 64 or 128 RC4 security.

Everything looks like you WLan card doesn't support the same standards of security as your WLan router. You must understand that this WLan card is an oldie about 7 years.

I think that the best solution is to use external USB WLAN which support the latest encryption standards

  • Connectivity limited or no WAP11 when using WEP

Configure my wifi network with a former BEFSR41 router and WAP11 wireless access point. Have laptop with XP Pro that connects perfectly without encryption, but whenever I try to use WEP I get the error "no or limited connectivity.  When you are prompted, I type in the same password as the one I used for 128-bit WEP encryption while creating the WAP11 to my network. Am I missing a step?

    Thank you

    LC

Hello. Welcome to the community forums at the homepage of Cisco.

Here's my suggestion: try to generate the keys with the password you are using. You do on WAP. Then use the keys on your phone, rather than the password.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I activate the WEP encryption?

I am trying to activate WEP encryption on my 871W. I can only use beacause WEP WPA does not understand my Palm Tungsten C.

Currently, I use these two welcome to WEP:

encryption key 1 size 7 824xxxxx063 transmit key of 128 bits

    mandatory encryption wep mode

But the WiFi works without encryption, everyone can connect. (Every time I do an 'int do0 shutdown"after I read the email on my Palm).

Can someone point me in the right direction to set up simple WEP encryption?

Later, I will use more ACL to verify addresses MAC-WLAN-clients...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Ardjan

I think the problem is in:

    "encryption key 1 size 128 bit 824 7A<.....>0063 pass-key"

    You must use:

    "key size 1 vlan 30 encryption 128 bit 824 7A<.....>0063 pass-key".

Please, check this and let us know. Hope this helps
