Msconfig does not

Hello. I have a Dell Dimension PC with Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 and I'm having a serious problem with msconfig. It does not start when typed in run in Normal mode, but it works in safe mode and that she already had a motherboard problem that had to be fixed. Now, the memory make it worse and I don't know what to do about this, please help.

You used the words 'bad'... acceleration, tuneup, booster... Where my questions about these adjectives in particular.

Now, I have to add Eraser and Muncher to my list "Have you now or ever used..." ».

I guess when you start using safe, these applications do not load anything that they load in Normal mode, so your msconfig works in Mode safe (because these applications are not loaded).

Msconfig works in Mode safe, I would say that there is nothing wrong with msconfig, but something that loads in a Normal trunk prevents msconfig from start - maybe because these other programs don't want you to use msconfig.

You could start safe mode, use msconfig, disable these additional programs, one at a time, restart normally, try msconfig and then you can find the program that when loading, prevents msconfig to run in Normal mode.

I don't think I'll be installing those Articles myself to do the test for you, but someone might know more about them or have other ideas.

    1. If the system restore is on, and you can't find really no point of system restore, you can be infected by a virus.  Viruses like system restore points and tend to run after them.  Run an Antivirus in safe mode with network (that you already have or in Trend Micro Housecall).  Once this and you have fixed any issue pending, turning the system restore on will generate a new point catering for you and you should be good to go.

  • MSConfig does not display the item (by default) startup under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Bug creates the feat of malware to hide the user startup items, msconfig.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun]
    @= "c:\\users\\steven\\appdata\\local\\temp\\6csjbd5.exe".

I came across this, after being attacked by malware. In general, I use MSConfig to disable all startup items when troubleshooting an attack and attempt to regain control of the system. MSConfig lead me to believe I had disabled all startup items, but he fails to show or disable the (default) entry to the registry key above. Indeed, it's an exploitable bug that is currently used by malware developers to hide from end users, armed with MSConfig. As a side note, CCleaner has the same problem. The only solution is to change the value directly using RegEdit (clear).

  • Chicony webcam on Satellite Pro P200 1.3 does not work properly

This built-in Chicony webcam is slowly driving me insane.

Sometimes it works (not since last week though). Usually, I get a message saying it is locked by another application - or it does not exist. Now, I can not even friends view webcams.

The cam is displayed on my screen and seems perfect, but no one can see me! When I try to view the cam of friends, I am told that it is not connected.

Now, I checked my device manager and it is not yet installed-just disappeared! I have recommended download driver Toshiba Europe (camsoft-2007081...), uncompressed, ran it, restarted, but apparently my laptop does not detect the webcam - even if a blue light flashes!

Please get out me of my misery... someone!

Thank you, thank you, gratias, go raibh mile, etc., etc.

I read that sometimes the internal TV tuner would block the internal webcam and so this error message.
But as far as I know this laptop was not equipped the internal TV tuner, and therefore, this possibility is not relevant.

Always is it that any application locks the webcam software. In case you would you recommend to go the msconfig and disable first the webcam services that run in the background. Then turn it back on.

    In most cases, this helps!
By the way; I noticed this problem only with yahoo messenger and ms. Skype works ok!

  • Satellite A200 - support Button does not start when windows starts

    Hey,.

Today, I decided to disable unnecessary programs as many as I could (to speed up my pc), so I went to Msconfig (I have vista home premium 32-bit) and a lot of things off. Including the "toshiba button support. The next time I restarted my additional buttons on the top of the keyboard all worked, next to one. Who normally turn on windows media player. This time, he did nothing at all. Game/resume, stop, forward, back and button internet all worked without problem.
However, I really liked the WMP button, so I tried to find out what the problem was. I discovered that it was the support of the key, so I decided to reactivate it.

However, this didn't not help: (.) I turned it in msconfig, but it does not start with windows more: (.) I know this is the program that I need, because when I run the program manually (this is the program: programfiles/toshiba/TBS/HSON.exe) the button works.
I put a V in front of the msconfig program, but it does not work. Anyone has an idea why not?

Edit: I found a solution, even if not the best. If anyone still has the same problem:
I made a shortcut for the program to run (can be found in C:programfiles/toshiba/SCT and is called HSON.exe). Then I clicked start and said 'all programs', here I chose the "opstarten" folder, it comes to the Dutch version, but my guess is it's called something like 'start-up' in English. In this regard, I glued (copy / cut-> paste) the shortcut to the program, and now he begins again :)

  • Portege M800 - Chicony Webcam does not work

I have a Portege M800 and the Camera Assistant Software simply does not work.

I upgraded my Vista 64-bit Service Pack 2, I reinstalled the driver several times and I downloaded the latest version of the Camera Assistant Software from the Web from Toshiba site and nothing worked.

I get a 'preview of no.' when I load first it and 'Graph making Fail' when I go to the video.
However, the only thing is that I know that the camera itself is very well because very rarely it will work on MSN messenger, but he has not responded to other programs.

    Please help me!

    Hello

    > The only thing however is that I know that the camera itself is very well because very rarely it will work on MSN messenger, but he has not responded to other programs.

This means that more different applications have access to this camera. Is this good?
I think that is the question!

In your case, I recommend you to disable the webcam software in msconfig-> Startup tab.
In addition, you must disable the MSN also in msconfig. The point is that only an application that uses and sharing the webcam should run in the background of the OS.
I think that this would avoid problems with other software

Here is the new mobile workstations HP Z book 17.

Microsoft said that HP is responsible for the operation of win 7 in the first year for the operating systems pre-installed

HP elite support doesn't know how to solve the problem with the USB ports on the two books of Z is not able to provide access to external hard drives or flash drives

These two mobile workstations have problems of USB port with all the ports on each computer?

These two mobile workstations have problems of windows 7 where the client has to learn how to use the registry to store external hard drives internal hard drives?

What does do to be able to back up files on a disk external hard drive internal?

Have to do to be able to use flash dirves with a 17 mobile workstation z book?

    This problem has been resolved.

The book of Z 17 HP installed their software: HP Client Security.

This software prevents the use of external hard drives and flash drives in its default settings.

Each customer is on their own in discoverinv and the resolution of this problem.

There is no warning.   He made no information on why a right click on a drive and checking the property do not work.

The way in which this issue has been resolved was by a clean boot process in msconfig.

When miscrosoft services were hidden items that remained were read.  Systematically, some were checked and unchecked, and the computer has rebooted to see if the problem was still in existence or if the problem has disappeared.

Whenever the hard drive or flash drive has been verified.

We were lucky that we checked to see if it was or not HP software at the beginning.  This problem was caused by the default client security HP who were to refuse all USB connections.

This consumes a lot of time and was so frustrating.

On the first book of HP Z 17 thin client HP security biometric authertication failed with a black screen.  The computer is about 15 days old.    All the dirvers for the HP notebook have been uploaded and then the software for biometric devices have been downloaded.  HP determined that it was a hardware failure of the biometric device, when drivers and software downloads together has not fixed the problem.  This computer had / has the same problem with not allowing communication with any external hard drive or flash drive.

HP did wrong by not providing any information on the inside of this product the HP support assistant.

Here's a consumer might encounter problems:

The HP support assistant on Z book provides updates of drivers for windows, but the support phone number book mobile z is not listed.  There is a phone number, but it is a regular support, not z book mobile support or elite support.  Mobile Z book users are supposed to call the number fo elite press and the number is for a regular support on the wizard of book z mobile support.  Support assistant has cat support method and the HP chat support is not trained to book support z mobile.  There is a feature to contact the technical support and the transfer of data to the technician, and again, it goes to regular support who is not trained to support the mobile z book.  If you call the phone number provided some of the choices on the automated line includes desktop, laptop and office work.  If you choose Notepad you won't get z mobile workstation support.  If you choose work center you will get no support of z book mobile workstation.  Instead, you must have someone answer and then ask to be redirect to support elite.  On the first call, you never know that the support you are looking for is elite support until they give you this information on the next contact.

After many hours spent barely pull on the problems of not being able to view files on an external hard drive or external dirve flash, I was able to change this HP software.  It now unfortunately produces a humming noise when parts of it are displayed.  This has not yet been set.

It is the customer of HP security information:

    http://www.HP-ProtectTools.com/downloads/PDF/HP_ProtectTools__EnterpriseDeviceAccessManager_Whitepaper.PDF

There was no information to reconfigure the software in the white paper.

I was able to find a user guide.

This guide was not and was not available through the HP support assistant:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02292692.PDF

Hope this helps all who are unable to view the files on their external hard drives and external flash drives.

The thin client HP security prevents click right change of ownership and prevent changes, right-click in the security, etc..  Change of Director fails also as the client security administrator HP overides too.

So end users must change the HP Thin Client Security so that it does not block access to files on external hard drives or flash drives.

Hello, I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A100-812 (C. Duo, 2 GB RAM, GF 7600, Vista Premium). I disabled the synaptics driver in msconfig. After a while, I turned on the driver but Touchpad still does not work. All the fn buttons work correctly (turning brightenswith FN + F6 or FN + F7 etc.) but FN + F9 (turning the Touchpad) does not always work.
    Help, please.

    ([email protected])

    Hello

you did a reinstallation of the driver? I think that if you have disabled it with msconfig, it should work after reactivation and otherwise, to remove this driver and install it
Once again. (So the touchpad) driver should be available after reinstalling and restarting Windows.

Would be recognizing a few comments if it worked. :)

  • Pavilion 500 - 206t: Boot Manager does not appear in the sources of boot UEFI

I had a working system, until I installed Fedora on it...

I have since removed Fedora, but cannot get the windows partition to start for the life of me.

In the bios, I don't see "Microsoft boot manager" in the list of Sources of boot UEFI in the boot order.

I have the original, untouched windows 7 x 64 partition, the HP recovery partition and 10 windows partition, I recently did a clean install, but still no start.

I've deleted and recreated a 100 MB EFI partiton and a partion of 128 MB msr by using diskpart.

formatted fat32 EFI, left the msr as-is.

C:\Windows\Boot\EFI\ files on the EFI partition in \EFI\Windows\Boot

Creates the via bcdedit boot manager entries.

    I tried:

    1. Bootrec /fixboot
    2. Bootrec /fixmbr
    3. Bootrec /rebuildbcd

I also used boot bcd with uefi function to copy the files on

I used an installation disc USB win10 to the foregoing as a win7 disc does not have the USB drivers for the keyboard and the mouse.

Am I missing something for the HP Pavilion?

    Thanks in advance

    Repair of windows did nothing.

I created a ultimatebootcd USB drive (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and used parted Magic/clonezilla in order to image the old windows and partitions of hp recovery (not the entire disk) to a USB external HDD (plugged into USB 2.0 port)

Then I deleted all partitions with parted magc.

Install win 7 on the system with no partitions, it's easier to reduce windows on partition of 100 MB, but you can adjust it later, also don't you bother with the product key, ignore her.

Restart the ultimate boot CD, choose parted Magic then Partition editor and create an important partition for windows = or superior to what it was when he was photographed. If your new installation of win 7 took the entire disk, simply to reduce the size of the partition and create the large partition to restore to, don't forget the restoration of 15 GB HP as well. If you don't see all the partitions or get an error in the score editor, see this link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1619381

don't worry about formatting new partitions.

To restore, you will need to rename the image files on the external hard disk created in the second paragraph above. The partition names will be changed, see this link: http://drbl.org/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/102_restore_image_to_different_partition.faq#102_restore_image_to_different_partition.faq

After the restoration, start windows installation disk and repair, it will be your old windows partition, restored. Save and reboot the old partition. If everything is successful, you can delete the newly installed partition win 7 and use msconfig in windows to delete startup entries. You can use parted magic to cultivate the restored partition, if you wish.

Then, install windows 10 to get a true EFI boot.
