Multiple Oracle homes on the same server (Oracle ACE and DB)

Hi all

OS: RHEL 4.7
Oracle Application Server: 10.1.3.1
Oracle database: 11.2.0.1.0

I was asked to install oracle 11g on a server that is already running Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1

Due to the lack of space on the server sys admin gave me space under/usr, Installation went smooth and successful and complete location 11 g installed is "/ usr/11 GR 2/app/product/11 g.

Database is also created using DBCA with the location of the file ' / usr/11 GR 2/app / 11 g/oradata.

It is, I need to define the environment variable under the same 'oracle' user when it connects, should be able to log on by typing just sqlplus...

. Current user 'oracle' Bash_profile looks like this...

***********************************************************************
# Get the aliases and functions
If [~/.bashrc - f]; then
. ~/.bashrc
FI

# Specific programs startup and user environment

Path=/U01/Oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/JDK/bin:$path:$Home/bin

Export RPD_HOME = / home/oracle/ORABI/OBI/Server/repository
export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1
#export JAVA_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/jdk
export JAVA_HOME=/home/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/jdk/
$PATH = path: $ORACLE_HOME/bin
$PATH = path: $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin
export ANT_HOME = / usr/local/ant
export PATH = ${PATH}: ${ANT_HOME} / bin
#export JAVA_HOME = / usr/local/ant/jdk

export PATH

*****************************************************************************

Please suggest to include this also oracle_home in the .bash_profile above or any other solution to meet the needs...

Thank you

Hello;

I did a similar thing using Oracle 10 and 11, but I keep manual and use default bash for one.

From the houses of the Oracle, I run the command: (using which profile I need)

 source ./o10g.profile

Note the "unset ORACLE_HOME" command in each profile.

    Hello

Is this possible? We have 2 different offices on different subnets, but I can tell it is only possible to have an active local gateway at a time?

I know that I can install a gateway HPDM in each office, but if I could avoid it, it would be preferable.

    Hello

HPDM uses MAC of the server host as the ID gateway (which must be unique), is not possible you have two gateways installed on the same server host - Agent DM is not able to find out who will speak with.

  • With regard to the migration of the multiple 9i DBs to the same server AIX 5.2

    Hello

We intend to spend a few databases Oracle 9i from AIX 5.2 to AIX 5.2.
I have two questions about the approach that we plan to implement:

    1. We anticipate volumes having Oracle_Home and data files with the full operating system backup and restore on the target server. Installing Oracle will work on the target with this approach?

2 can we use the same Oracle home for several Oracle databases? The goal is after copying above volumes/OS to the first server, we just copy the files/init.ora of backup data while offline connection/redo log files and control of the second source DB server to the target and will be starting the additional instance. This approach works?

We intend to spend a few databases Oracle 9i from AIX 5.2 to AIX 5.2.

    I think it's on AIX 5.2 to AIX 5.3.

As far as I know Yes. The installation should work as we can even go to AIX and hot houses readers.

Yes. Same House can accommodate databases of the same versions. The approach is but OK.

  • Multiple instances of oracle with characterset different on the same server database

    Hello

We are finalizing plans to install Automic (software scheduliong formerly UC4) for our suite of retail applications and replace Uc4.

The process came to know that Automic does not support AL32UTF8 database characterset.

At this moment we have RMS and UC4 UC4 supports AL32UTF8 and schema for UC4 running on the same database server is inside the RMS database.

From now on, it is recommended to have a separate database instance on the same server as the RMS database and with a different characterset which is WE8MSWIN1252.

Is it possible to have 2 instances of database running with different charactersets, one with AL32UTF8 and the other with WE8MSWIN1252. ?

There are configuration requirements before implementing instances of database?  THS APPWORX (for UC4) schema will be exported (data pump export) and imported into the new database.

The utility Automic we want to use is not compatible AL32UTF8 and manage only a database of character set WE8MSWIN1252.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    RAM.

PL post OS and database versions.

Is it possible to have 2 instances of database running with different charactersets, one with AL32UTF8 and the other with WE8MSWIN1252. ?

Yes - without any doubt - two databases are independent and have nothing to do with each other.

There are configuration requirements before implementing instances of database?  THS APPWORX (for UC4) schema will be exported (data pump export) and imported into the new database.

You may have - to test the export/import process rigorously. If your source is AL32UTF8 and target is WE8MSWIN1252, data loss may occur for those characters that are in the former, but not the last.

  • Oracle 11G and application server installed on the same server

What are the advantages and disadvantages installation of Oracle 11 G database and Oracle (forms and reports) application server on the same server?

    Thank you in advance, Sonya

Some people might want their data in an area of separate network for security reasons.
It also depends on if it is the same people who do maintenance on db and appserver.

It is at a lower cost with a single server and only 1 Os to implement.

  • Oracle XE on multiple virtual machines on the same physical machine?

    Hi people,

Can I install Oracle XE on several virtual machines that are on the same physical machine?

    Thank you

    G. grangier

I find that this interpretation is questionable.
    Instance, what do mean?
    What they mean by server?
Unless Oracle explicitly forbids the execution of several databases of XE on different virtual machines at the same time, I don't see violations.

For example, imagine that the user has runs that XE on AWS and user B running an another XE on AWS.
They are not running on the same "Server"?

  • Newbie: Mobile Server and Oracle DB must be on the same server?

    Hello Forum...

I have problems to install the mobile server (ver. 10.3.0.2.0).

First of all, I tried to install within an instance of the OAS (ver. 10.1.3.0.0) - I could not set the password of the mobile server oc4j account in enterprise manager server application and is stuck there. Also, I couldn't connect to webtogo as mobile server administrator.

Second, I have installed the version of stand-alone mobile server, but when I run the 'runmobileserver.bat' I get the following error:

    09/08/22 12:54:21 log9: connect as: MOBILEADMIN
09/08/22 12:54:21 log9: Mobile Server ID not found, impossible to register.
    09/08/22 12:54:21 log9: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

Like the previous time, I couldn't connect to the webtogo as mobile server administrator. [OS: windows 2003 Enterprise in both cases]

I was informed by my dba that Oracle mobileserver will work only if it is installed on the same server as the backend database. Is this true?

    Thank you
    j - p.

    Hi J - P,

When you installed the mobile server in stand-alone mode, repwizard was not performed or has failed.
Try to rerun repwizard with: $ORACLE_HOME/mobile/server/admin/repwizard
You can check the log file in $ORACLE_HOME/mobile/server/repository.log to see if there is a critical error,
the repwizard should save your mobile server, you can consult this table: mobileadmin.mobileserver_instances so you can see your host name and port.

On the Mobile Server OAS installation, you should not need to use the oc4jadmin password as if you installed OAS 10.1.3 and run the runinstaller lite Oracle to install Oracle lite 10.3.0.2. in the same ORACLE_HOME with run of the OAS, it should automatically deployed the mobile server j2ee application in the OAS.

    Kind regards.
    Marc
PS: To change the OC4JADMIN password you can use the note: Note.460314.1 Ext/Pub cannot establish a connection with OC4J instance mobileserver on application server

  • Database Oracle and VirtualCenter 5.0 on the same server?

We have 11 ESXi host and whant to install Oracle R2 on the VirtualCenter 5.0 server.

VirtialCenter 5.0 and Oracle will bee installed on a virtual machine.

The virtual machine will have 4 vCPU´s 2 GHz each and 8 GB of RAM.

    So my question is:

Is - this senario ok, or do I have TO install Oracle on a separate server?

    Hello

You can use Oracle as the database for vCenter Server 5.0 and is therefore capable of managing all your ESXi hosts - all 11 of them. This means that you need to install Oracle on your virtual machine where you plan to install the vCenter Server 5.0 and when it asks for the select Oracle database. See the installation guide for vCenter Server 5.0.

  • Installations of multiple Apex on the same server

    Hello

We plan to spend some of the data in our Oracle database to another database on the same server.
Now the problem is that there are a number of Apex applications that use these data.
So I wonder if it is possible to create a second installation of Apex (and HTTP server?) on the same server, connect to the new database.

We use the database with Oracle HTTP server and Apex 3.1.2 10.2.0.4.

    Thank you

    Hello

a database can have only one installation of APEX active. But you can have several databases with an APEX in each database
on the same server. You can even use the same HTTP server - you just neen an additional inscription of DADDY for the second database APEX
in your dads.conf file, for example

    :
    Database configuration data 1
    :

    :
Attributes for the second database here

    Does that help?

  • Running the Single Instance and RAC on the same server of different homes.

    Hi guys,.

I already have 4 node RAC12c installed on OLE 6.

I'm planing on some of my other 12 single instance databases on other migration for RAC nodes.

Please correct me here if I am wrong...

My understanding is that, to be able to use DBCA or rconfig for conversion of database instance RAC, the only instance and RAC cluster must run on the same server or machine node.

Thanks to this understanding... Am planing on the installation of a binary single instance on one of my cluster node node1 say and then use RMAN to duplicate the single instance or just an RMAN restore from the node of the instance that is unique to this node1. Am capable of this plan must then use DBCA or rconfig to convert the CARS database.

Now, my question is can I run a single instance and RAC on the same server for different homes with different database ports?

    2. for these unique instance that runs on the server RAC 1 node, can I use the RAC database listener that runs from the House of the grid or I have to create another auditor?

Thank you in advance and also let me know if I can use DBCA or rconfig when the only instance and rac database are on separate nodes.

    K

Fix. And that's what I would normally do. In general, I would have just an ORACLE_HOME directory that can be used by the punctual and RAC databases at the same time.

    See you soon,.

  • dblink to an instance on the same server

Suppose I have two Oracle instances that sit on the same physical server. In one case, I create one dblink to another and this dblink allows to define a view as select * from sometable@dblink. Will there be of the type involved in the trafficking network restrictions (for example limited to the current network interface physical bandwidth as 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps) causing overhead tiny as these instances be on separate physical machines? In other words, is this dblink between instances the right way to go, or maybe there is possibility to enjoy a few additional mechanisms for these two instances provided the fastest way possible (and assuming that created the view above)?

    Thank you

If the two instances are on the same server, LAN drivers/software can resolve the IP address of the connected 'server' as the local host, so he won't need to go out on the network (if possible, why not try unplugging the network cable from the server and see if it works again - assuming, of course, the network is not necessary for the duration).   The connection will pass through the network interface on the same server and communicate via the relevant port that the instance is configured on.

This isn't really any different to having an instance of database installed on a computer not connected to the network that you connect then on this same computer by using any client interface, it will be always access it through the port on which the database is listening, but there is no need for any network physical to exist.

As separate bodies, then using dblink is probably the method appropriate and common use.
