my antivirus does not

Hi I had used avg antivirus on my pc but it blocks we look out, I try to reinstall and get an error saying I have checked my privilege to change. How do I do that? What should I do to get it working?

You can activate the built-n administrator account, and then try to reinstall. Please see here:

Activate the hidden built-in Administrator account

However, your antivirus program should not have been disabled in the first place makes me suspicious that malware can make these changes, that's why I advise you to run the Windows Live safety Scanner:

http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

Clickfull scan Service.

And run the MSRT here tool:

You should also install, update and run a quick scan withMalwarebytes' Antimalware:

  • My antivirus does not work after uninstalling windows 10 and return to windows 7

I have upgraded to windows 10, but has had a few problems in general, especially with my keyboard, the printer, chromium and the office so I decided to go back to windows 7, but since kapersky does not work on my computer. I have full protection, but it will not work. I tried to restore my computer, but there is nothing before the upgrade to windows 10. I tried to restore to a previous version kapersky, but there aren't any. I can't uninstall it because it says it has been removed, even if it is still in the same place, I can't go back because he said that I have already. I tried running as administrator and in compatibility mode, but still does not work. When I try to run as administrator it says I don't have permission to access the item, but he isn't blocked or something. I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

You will probably never get Windows 7 running again, until you perform a new installation of Windows 7.

I recommend a factory restore.  There is a hidden on your hard drive partition (assuming you have the original OEM hard drive) that has a copy exactly what was on your computer when you first started it.

Tell us the brand and model and we will send you instructions on how to perform this.

First of ALL, download your saved data.  Factory restore erases everything.

  • Thunderbird does not and I need to know how to find out what version of Thunderbird I have?

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, use Firefox, but know not how do I know what version. I have Zone Alarm anti virus / firewall, iolo System Mechanic and run them both regularly. I also have a g-mail account, a folder marked 'Gmail' in Thunderbird, and basically 100% of my Gmail messages come to my Thunderbird Inbox. After the opening of Thunderbird, the green "loading" round is seen turning @ low lower left says 'Download Message', @ bottom lower right, the "progress bar" shows HARDLY any green and Thunderbird takes FOREVER to load. If I try to click on an e-mail, (most of the time I don't even have to do), my screen becomes an opaque milky white and at the top of the page says "Thunderbird"(not responding). "» I usually just leave the laptop, and back in 30 minutes or so to start to open my emails. Sometimes, it is ready for me to start reading e-mail and other times, it STILL doesn't react, and I have to continue to wait. Using Ctrl / alt/del... Thunderbird highlight the Task Manager, and click 'end process' is not good. restart, OR shut down / restart also does no good.

If the files are corrupt, compaction usually does nothing good. With corrupt files, if you can remove them and empty the trash compacting should remove them. If there was something wrong with the messages, when you looked at them first, you would see that. It is the only way to detect, unless that have a way to read the whole mail accounts file.

  • I just installed Windows Defender, but he does not see my Windows XP Security Center. I had to install Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows to see any antivirus. Why?

I removed Bitdefender because it slowed my computer down a lot. I then installed Windows Defender and updated and scanned the computer (no problem) and said it was "protect my computer". But the Windows Security Center does not see any antivirus, until I installed Microsoft Security Essentials. Why? And are two antivirus programs now runmning together?

  • Security Center does not recognize installed AntiVirus software

I tried to update my Roxio Roxio 2009 2007 but I have an error message and so I removed the installation 2009 and re-installed my 2007 edition.

When I removed Roxio 2009 I was correctly or incorrectly advised to remove all references to the "Roxio" in the registry.

I put "Roxio" in the box search of Regedit and deleted all references to Roxio then maybe that is what caused my problem.

In addition to this, I have only 1 point of restoration and it is after I re-installed Roxio 2007 after using the cleaning and the points of additional backup option.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

What a fool one program is Roxio for not being able to uninstall their own stuff more graciously.  I read their directions.

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..

If you have used the XP cleaning and told to delete everything except your last restore Point, she did what you say, which leaves you with a RP.  What do you think thre certain shortcomings here?  It seems that it works perfectly.

There might still some AV programs that XP doesn't recognize not and are there is a difference between antivirus and software malware removal tools.  If you are 100% sure you have something useful installed and XP does not detect it as an AV program and complain about this, you can tell XP not not to warn you of this condition.

To do this, click Start, settings, Control Panel, Security Center, and then click the link that reads:

Change the way security centers alerts me

Things together the way you want to and you will not be disturbed by these messages again.  The risk is, you are disabling/undo built in the protection mechanism.  I have nothing of any AV software (on purpose - I look forward to infections), so I have my disabled notification but maybe this isn't a good idea for everyone.

Some malicious programs, analysis of the programs (such as MBAM) will report this setting (unless there is an infection) and offer to fix it for you because he thinks it might be an affliction.

When you have the time, I recommend that do you this too:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

Do not guess what the problem might be - understand and resolve it. I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!
