  • my computer will not install the important updates

I'm not able to install important updates from Microsoft. I tried to restart my computer several times and I tried to manually install updates also...

    Hello

    ·        What happens when you try to install updates (do you get the error messages)?

    ·        What version of Windows is installed on your computer?

If you are using Windows 7, you can run the troubleshooter window update and check if that helps you. To run the troubleshooter, follow the link below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

Alternatively, you can configure the computer to clean the start State and check if a third party application is in conflict with the installation process. To configure the computer to clean boot state follow the link below.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow the last step in section to start on normal startup.

    Hope this information is useful.

    Last question first: No.

The rest - it looks like that you may be infested/infected with something.  We're going to clean up some things.  Follow this advice as given, do not deviate or ignore anything just because you might have done something similar or even exactly the same thing a few minutes before on your own.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner. Remove everything it finds.

    Reset.

    Start an elevated command prompt.

    1. Run the following commands pressing on enter after each line:

      net stop wuauserv

      CD %SystemRoot%\System32

      Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

      net start wuauserv

    2. Reset

    * Important * When you do this, the following problems occur:

    • Updates that are currently downloaded but which have not yet been installed must be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
    • When you remove the Software Distribution folder, your download history is deleted.
    • If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and Windows Update, you will need to reselect this option from the Windows Update Web site.

    * Note *
if the problem is resolved and you can successfully download and install the updates, you can delete the directory SoftwareDistribution.old to recover disk space.

    Use this FixIt:
How to get the latest version of the Windows Update Agent

    Reset.

    Save components WU:

    1. Start an elevated command prompt.
    2. Run the following commands pressing on enter after each line:
      regsvr32 Jscript.dll
      regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll
      regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll

    Reset.

  • She launched 'System Restore' now the computer will not complete the installation

Clean HP Pavilion bought in 2003.  With the help of daughter for school work.  Computer running very slow.  A ran all the relevant boxes virus / malware scans, the old deleted files ' ran fix disk, disk cleanup and defrag, still running slow.  A ran the 'System Restore' edge (press F10 during boot).  It works through the restore program and sit as I just opened the box.  Through the implementation of procedures and click Finish and it is just there for up to 6 hours before I finally gave up.

Oh Dear Brian, I hope there is no data file on the computer, you will need in the future. The F10 key is the path to the system recovery that restores the computer to the factory settings. It comes to the computer when it was bought new in 2003. It erases all the data files and installed programs from the drive. In other words, you start again:

  • computer will not recognize the installation startup disk upward

Ive already installed my cd/dvd drive as my first boot in the BIOS. However, I have never enter the setup and go straight to start windows again (I am trying to reinstall windows 7). any advice?

Go into the BIOS to start the computer and change the setting from IDE to AHCI.  This allows Windows 7 to recognize the SATA CD or DVD ROM drive you dΘmarrez since and it should install.

This probably won't work if your CD/DVD-ROM is not a SATA drive.
    ----------------

What is a digital download of Windows 7 you burned? If it is not burned properly (for example, simply copy the installation files to the disk) without the necessary start-up information, Windows 7 does not start from the disc.

  • Computer will not process 4.0 update. How to bring back my old version?

I just upgraded Firefox 4.0, but when trying to open the application, the operating system of my MAC will not manage this version. How can I download an older version that works on OS x?

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third part of Firefox 4 version that works under OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details, see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

    Hello

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!

Here you need to start your computer in safe mode and do a system restore.

Start the computer in safe mode and check the number.

Follow this link provided below to start your computer in safe mode.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

You have to try to perform a system restore to go back to the work settings, to do that follow the instructions below:

    1) click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (2) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    (3) in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4) click Finish.

If you still have the problem then we will try to reset the windows update components and find the number.

You must follow the link provided below to run the fixit which will automatically fix the problem if you find problems with the fixit, then you can follow the procedure to manually reset Windows component update.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/971058

Once the Windows Update components are reset, try to reinstall updates. To do so,

    1. open Windows Update by clicking Start , all programsand then click Windows Update.

    2. click on the option to change the settings in the left navigation bar. You will now be on a screen where you will be able to set up how Windows Vista download and install updates on your computer.

    3. Select updates but let me choose whether to download and install them. When you have finished setting options that you want, press the OK button to save these settings. You will now be at the main screen of Windows Update.

    4. in the left pane, click check for updates, and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your computer.

    5. you can then download the updates one or both.

    6. click on install updates to install updates currently selected.

    7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you get all the updates you want on your PC.
