  Windows repeat me that "a DVD player is not detected," even if there is a DVD player installed in my computer by the manufacturer.  I pushed it completely with my thumb to make sure that it is not disconnected from its moorings of connection.  The little green light on the door of the reader flashes once every second about.   It is always possible that there is a hardware problem but disappears under Vista disks were a 'common' problem

• LG supermulti dvd burner is not detected by the system.

  I wanted to install ATI RADEON HD 4350 and so I uninstalled the driver Intel (r) GMA. I installed the card on the motherboard and I have installed the driver provided by the manufacturer using their CD and I also did other necessary things. Everything worked perfectly. Then in the driver user interface, I saw two monitors. I selected one of them, without any judgement and turns off the computer. Later, when I put it on I saw there was not on my screen and indicator showed natural signal, which was red. So I uninstalled the card and connect the monitor to the onboard connector cable.

  Sometimes the HDD and LG supermulti dvd burner got detected (both or one of them) and sometimes they were not. When they were done detected the speed and performance of the machine was very poor. Monitor has also not getting detected in Device Manager.Then I managed to uninstall the video adapter driver and is also further things to slove the problem:

  Checking the SATA connections (my HDD is on the SATA1 and LG supermulti dvd burner is SATA 2), checking the other connections, Clearing RTC RAM etc, but nothing gave me a permanent solution.

  Then I did a BIOS update and I did an upgrade to Windows XP SP3, stay inside Windows and I also reinstalled driver Intel (r) GMA (new version).

  Now the problem is the drive is detected but supermulti LG dvd writer is not. But now the monitor is in my device manager and performance is good. Now what should I do to the system so that it could detect LG supermulti dvd burner?

  Two other points are:

  1. when I was using the video card my system was attacked by a Trojan horse, but now it's OK after running a full scan using KIS2011 and take necessary measures.

  2 is powered for the LG supermulti dvd burner because it is to open when I am pressing the button.

• CD-ROM/DVD-Rom drive not detected

  I have a Toshiba Satellite l300d with an OS Vista Home premium. It worked fine for 3 years, but last week, I can't find the cd drive in 'my computer' and am unable to read DVDs, games, etc.

  The Toshiba MK1652GSK ATA device appears in Device Manager and I've updated the driver as well as to try to uninstall and reinstall. However, in disk management that only the c drive and e drive (data) are listed with another disk without a name I can't access, when I right click above just said 'help '.
  I tried to delete upper and lower filters with regedit and similar solutions with registry entries. Mr Fixit shows that the problem is that the driver is not detected, but does not bring a solution.
  I have idea about what to do next really, any help?

  Was not aware there is a problem until I tried some recently audio and data CDs.  Have you tried different Web sites to help you, however some of the directions come with a warning that by following certain procedures I can create other problems.  The FixIt tool was not able to install the player.

  The device cd/dvd drive does not show in my computer or Device Manager.   HP Pavilion dv9500 laptop.  I know that the camera is good, as I tried in another HP Pavilion laptop and everything was good.  I tried the the high/low filters registry fix surprised but only shows not always.   Any help?

  Tried to burn a dvd, but would not recognize the media, so updated the firmware.

  Do you mean that the BIOS does not recognize the CD/DVD drive?
  Hmm, this means that the firmware changed the master/slave/c-salt settings and no BIOS can't recognize the ODD.
  Perhaps you have used a wrong firmware

  Unfortunately, you cannot set the STRANGE to the early firmware so you don t have this firmware.

  On the Toshiba European page driver I could find a firmware, but only for a TS-L632 and TS-L632P TS-L632H readers.

  Perhaps an ASP technician could help you... it's worth a try to get in contact with a technician of the ASP

  My CD-RW/DVD drive refuses to read DVDs, acting as if there is no disc in the drive, no matter what I try. I have not used the machine regularly in a while and just starting to discover this.
