  • Compatibility report when installing Win7 on laptop OS Ubunto

Pretty much what the title says. I have a PC notebook Toshiba Satellite L300 - 16 L with 3 GB of ram upgraded, it was initially running Win Vista then I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.10 but my mother although windows is more suitable for her, so she asked me to replace Ubuntu with Win 7. If during the installation of win 7 I chose ' update now ' and I was brought to the compatibility page saying "'this start the computer using the installation disc." "Remove the drive and start Windows normally, then insert the disc and continue the upgrade" and could not continue the installation. First of all, you can not pass an operating system based on Linux to Windows 7, they are incompatible, your only option is to do a custom clean install.

If you have personal files in Ubuntu, you must save your file.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

To learn how to change your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • "Load driver" error when installing Win7 on Satellite C665

My hard drive in my laptop died on me, so I'm a new hard drive (Solid State) and installed Windows 7 top on my Toshiba (Satellite C665 model PSC55A)

I don't seem to be the only ones to encounter this error: "A required CD/DVD drive driver is missing. If you have a flash drive driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB, please insert it now. "However, everyone seems to get for different reasons and I have tried several things.

The first manifests itself: use the disk I got with the laptop. I moved homes since I bought the laptop. Looked through all the boxes in the House and and I think it can be lost in oblivion.
The next most obvious: load the drivers of Toshiba support. Tried that. Does not work. Don't know why, but I downloaded the drivers from Toshiba, extract them, put them on a USB key. Seen in "Install Windows" in a list of all the drivers. I try to install each one, it passes through all. The end of it still does not work.
Next: download Windows 7 USB/DVD tool. I read that this would work, so I tried it, and it didn't.
I also read BIOS, 'Disable AHCI mode for your drive in the BIOS OF THE system controller', I'm not the greatest, so I can't have gotten this right step, but the only time where I found the AHCI in the BIOS I couldn't change to IDE or ATA as suggested, I could just change it to "compatibility".

Thank you for your help, I hope I don't sound too desperate.

    > I found AHCI in the BIOS, I couldn't change it to IDE or ATA as was suggested, I could just change it to "compatibility".

It's a good... you can switch the SATA AHCI mode or in compatibility mode.
In AHCI mode laptop requires the SATA driver to see the SSD or HARD disk drive. In compatible mode HDD/SSD drive should be visible during installation of the system, but the HDD/SSD drive would operate in IDE mode means the player HDD/SSD would be slower.

But if I understand the detachment, ve you had problems with CD/DVD player. Is this correct?

It was really strange because installing Windows doesn t need drivers ODD (optical disc) the configuration of the installation contains common CD/DVD player that controls the disk drive.

I read in other forums that this problem could be related to faulty Windows installation disc. It would be interesting to know if you can use another drive to install the system

I also found this MS knowledge base article:
["Required the reader driver CD/DVD is missing" or "needs a driver your computer media is missing" appears when you install Windows | http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2755139]

    The reasons can be:
The installation DVD is removed during the installation process.
A bad quality DVD has been used to create the installation DVD.
The speed at which the installation DVD is burnt was too fast.
The DVD drive cannot read media.
    The ISO file is corrupted.

You can install another system of Windows Vista or XP for example or you have the same problems the other systems?

  • A frozen (for more than an hour) when installing Win7 updates

During the installation of updates during a restart, IQ506 froze, although few 'circle' still rotating, for more than an hour so far.  Message says not to put off, but nothing happens.  Where should I go from here, if I am not in power down?

A few times just to give up and put off, I look at the HD indicator, if it goes 30 minutes without blinking I give him a strong power off, if the HD is flashing I will usually let it run all night

  • Error code 0 x 80070750 when installing Win7 on an OEM DVD

I bought a new DVD Win 7 to be instslled on a laptop computer with a new hard drive. The hard drive has been formatted to NTFS. No made partitionswere. After 80% of the entpacking error code 0 8007050 x. I have some forums, the problem must come from a default memoy. RAM from another laptop without success.

    What can I do else?

    First run Memtest86 +:
It runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory
sticks are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.
