  Before performing this procedure,

  Make sure that your computer is disconnected from any power source

  Put yourself in the Earth or wear an anti-static strap before touching your computer components
  

  Open your computer and try to locate the rider of the Bios plastic that must be near the CMOS battery (battery size button small and flat).

  Remove the jumper from pins 1 and 2 plastic, replace it on pins 2 and 3. Wait a minute, then put the jumper on pins 1 and 2.

  If you can't find the rider plastic, try to remove battery CMOS completely.  Leave for an hour, then replace the battery.

  Original title: Lost my recovery disc (7032 advent laptop) - have Activation Code etc, can I get a free demo of Vista or something that I can restore from?

  Basically, as the title says, I managed to get some 20 virus on my laptop, so I had to wipe everything including the Vista operating system. Unfortunately, I have not found my recovery CD in 6 months or so that I was looking for. Again, I have my activation code on the bottom of my laptop, so is it possible to return Vista on my laptop without having to shell out another £35 to the advent and the Tech Guy? I appreciatereallyhelp on this issue, Ubuntu (which I use now) is driving me crazy and, frankly, has nothing on Windows 98, never mind Vista!

  Here are the different ways to make a recovery:

  Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

  There is no Vista free download legal available.

  Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

  Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

  In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

  See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

  Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

  Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  I lost access to many of my programs and downloads I try the system restore and get c:\windows\system32\rstui.exe the parameter is not correct went in safe mode and got the same thing changed the name of the computer in safe mode and still nothing then cmd.   I fixed it myself without access to drive c and with finding my lost vista cd.  I partitioned a space on my 2nd hard drive were I have installed windows 7 rc that I could find. then I completely lost my vista at startup program but was finally able to access the c drive was I changed the owner and reset the permissions {sweet}, then I downloaded the vista startup and repair cd {freebie} rebooted from the cd, he fixed the restarted start menu and was able to see my vista who temporarily lost started it and I ended up controll full return it downloads updates etc. just as it has done before my vista nightmare now, everything has been left a hard drive #2 I copied everything that was on the vista partition and it moves on the drive c in its own new folder then reformatted the drive d {drive #2] which left me with a clean drive were I was able to bring back every thing and worked.} I ' m sure that there was probably an easier way, but being able to find my vista cd and have very limited access to my vista program there were no alternative short bought another operating system and lose everything that I already had on my computer.   OK, so im going to DAY 3 of trying to get some freakin music on my curve...

  So here was ive done up to now:

  Downloaded Desktop Manager 4.6 media manager WITH and WITHOUT... and have the same problems.

  I (now have a NEW computer) have only 3 songs in my itunes folder.

  Tried to do it through media maganger... No song on the phone again (PS I have a 2 GB microSD card)

  So I downloaded the MediaSync to itunes...

  He sees, there are 3 pieces, when I click on SYNCHRONIZE, (less than one second later) says TRANSFER COMPLETE!

  But when you look at storage, it still says 0% AND when you go into my phone, he always says no. songs.

• drive needs fixing... but repair fails!

  Hi all

  my host has crashed and after restart, the virtual machine is not started. Fusion says disk needs to be repaired. I came across this forum found some positions, which suggests methods of repair. I tried to repair it with vmware-vdiskmanager with options-r and - r. Unfortunately, the two have failed.

  I saw in other posts that according to the error, it is possible to set manually, but I don't know what was wrong with the repair process (I don't understand it vmware.log so I attach).

  The vmdk disk file size is 10.191.765.504 bytes

  Any help would be greatly appreciated... no backup is available (sigh).
