My screen Display Properties lack the screen saver tab?

Recently, I installed XP on a new drive hard and now when I go to Display Properties screen by right-clicking on the desktop, there is no screen saver tab that allows the selection of a screen saver. What can I do to fix this?

I intend to install Linux on my computer laptop m70 and I was wondering what is the exact specification of my laptop screen (horizontal refresh rate, vertical refresh rate, etc.)

Also - what are th e linux drivers from the ati site works with the ati x 600 chip?

    Hello

As far as I know this device was shipped with a screen 15.4 "(1280 x 800) TruBrite Wide XGA TFT color display." But the detailed information on the screen, you will find in the user manual.

All graphics driver: I recommend to use only the graphics driver Toshiba because this driver uses a function of protection due to overheating problems. But if you want to use one other drivers, you can do it at your own risk.
In addition, the Toshiba doesn't supports Linux because the units are supplied only with the Microsoft Windows operating system.

It is a Windows 7 forum, not a Windows XP forum. But since the same
answer works for both versions of Windows, it's here:

If I bought a used computer, no matter who previously owned, the first thing I have with it would be to reinstall the operating system itself. You don't know how the computer has been maintained,
which has been improperly installed, what's missing, what virus and
There may be spyware, etc. I would not live with someone of another errors and problems, possibility of kiddy p0rn, etc, and I would not recommend anyone else to do.
But if you just want to change the name of "registered to", you can do
    editing HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
    Version\RegisteredOwner with Regedit.

    Hello

Remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: This can be caused by malware infection so your first step is to make sure that the computer is clean:

Run a virus with Microsoft Safety scanner scan and verify.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Method 2: The scanner (System file check) SFC and check if there are any file system corruption.
    a. to do this, click Start, click programs, on Accessoriesprincipally made, right click guestand then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    b. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
(Note: need you an install of Windowx XP disc to run this method)

More information on SFC scan found in this document:
Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

Method 3: This problem can also occur if registrykey is set to hide.

    Registry warning:

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
