  • Windows Server 2003 (64-bit), Terminal Server has 2 mouse pointers when you connect via RDP

    I recently reinstalled one of our Terminal Server Windows Server 2003 (64-bit) servers.
    When you connect via RDP, I get 2 mouse pointers. One seems to be the pointer to the session that changes of hourglass, etc... and the pointer remains under the arrow.

    I have all the updates that are installed.
    There is no options on the RDP settings like what I use on other RDP to the other Terminal server sessions and is not on any other I RDP server on my client.

    I connected as other RDP clients and get with the same problem, is not a customer number
    Is there a setting on the server to disable this option?

    How can I remove the pointer that does not change in the session?

  • Server 2003 32-bit Enterprise only see 3 GB RAM if 8 GB is assigned in the VM

    Created a new virtual machine in Vsphere 4 using Server 2003 32-bit Enterprise. The Enterprise edition to see the extra RAM that the VM assigned but so far is only 3 GB.  I've read several things about adding something in the boot.ini file, but I don't think in this case it would be a solution, as this seems to help you overcome the problem on a Standard Edition 32 bit, not the company that should see the RAM.

    Has anyone else encountered this problem and possibly find a solution?

  • Virtual machines, run extremely slow when the console is consulted 2 virtual machines Windows Server 2008 64-bit, Windows Server 2003 32-bit, 2 VMWare for virtual machine

    I'm in a difficult situtaition here.  I am the daily contact with a new client.  My linux guy, who is also my boss who is very busy, asked me to do some research trying to find answers for what's not on this server. We have a dual Quad Core 2.5 Ghz Lenovo server with 10 GB of ram.  2 500 GB hard drives are Raid 1.  We run Virtual Server VMWare 2 on a Debian with Gnome installation as a user interface for the side of things Linux.  Grub is the boot loader. There are two virtual machines running on the server.  The one machine that serves as a domain controller is a Windows SBS 2008 Server 64 bit, and the secondary machine has no responsibility domain.  The second machine is a Windows Server 2003 32-bit.  the 10 GB of ram 6 GB is allocated to the SBS server and 4 GB to the 2003 server.

    The problem I am running into is that everything is so slow, especially if I connect remotely to do any sort of administration on the network.  Some examples of issues I've noticed is that as soon as I log on the server via Remote Desktop SBS console management Windows Server spike to 80-95% CPU usage and it will not stop unless I close the management console.  Another instance is that if I open Backup Exec 12.5 on the SBS server it will kill the speed of the processor as well.  Long story short, there are a lot of machine to do what we need to do, but something is not configured right and non of us know what it is.  Another point to note is that the server has been in production for about 3 weeks, and the server seemed to have locked up just twice.  My professional guess is that over time, some chose thing is eating causing the crash of the memory.

    Sorry I do not have much technical insight on this topic, but this is the best I have to offer.  Any questions you all have, I'll ask my people and see if I can answer, but I could really use your help here.

    Thank you in advance,

    Heath

    2 things:

    1 you really need hard drives more than 2 in a RAID 1 for proper performance under load. More disks the better. Although I don't think that's what your problem is, he'll probably be the problem Next you will do.

    2. I don't know exactly where the configuration file is on your box of Debian for VMware Server, but you should consider adding the following options in the configuration file (on windows, it's the vmware 'config.ini'):

    prefvmx.minVmMemPct = "100".

    MemTrimRate = 0

    sched.mem.pshare.Enable = "FALSE".

    mainMem.useNamedFile = "FALSE".

    If you do some research, you can read about what these options (the largest is the memory page sharing - it should only be left on if you have a bunch of similar virtual machines running on the same box, that you don't have.) I honestly know why this is on by default, he kills the CPU when virtual machines are running different operating systems). These are the options that I now use standard in VMware Server deployments, with huge performance increases after you have added the. Just give a try.

    Edit: Also make sure that you have installed in your virtual machines VMware tools.

  • Unable to connect to the server under any account except in safe mode - Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

    My Windows Server 2008 R2 does not all connect directly to the server - level of the console or via the desktop remotely.  The symptom is that Active Directory is not running.  I tried to connect computers MacBook with OS X (10.5) to active directory.  I can log on to your desktop and see all the network shares, so all users seem to work OK - performance is slower than usual.  Logging indicates the user ID or password is not valid, but they are working on the jobs or when we book in safe mode.  DCDiag does not work because it cannot log in with credentials.

    Hello

    I see that you have a question about a certain driver for Win Server 2003. Unfortunately, there is not a driver available for it, but you can install an alternate driver such as the 990 c driver.

    You can follow this thread made Shane and install the 990 c driver.

  • 11 G Server 2003 64-bit wide Page problem

    I have two 11g 64-bit Server 2003 Enterprise servers running with the great support Page turned on without any problem. However, I have a new server with the same database and the OS versions that can't do the work of great Support of Page. This server is equipped with processors dual core quad Opteron 2393 SE, others have Intel processors. It's really the only difference I can see. I did everything to turn on the large Page support, has added the Oracle user ("Act as part of the operating system," adjust memory Quotas for a process, "Replace a process level token", 'Lock Pages in memory'). I also added the ORA_LPENABLE = 1 in the registry correctly. As soon as I do and restart the server, the database fails to start and will only start once I put ORA_LPENABLE = 0. These alerts log says:

    Starting ORACLE instance (normal)

    That's where it stops. The server has 8 GB or RAM and BMG is about 3 GB. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if there is some sort of BUG with the Opterons from AMD. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    MOS note 422844.1:

    "On AMD systems, you may need to disable Numa support in order to get the instance to start with large Pages. You do this by setting the following registry as a REG_SZ parameter, in the same tone as the ORA_LPENABLE:
    _ENABLE_NUMA - set to false.

    In addition, in the init.ora, set the following parameter:
    _ENABLE_NUMA_OPTIMIZATION = FALSE '.

    Of course, these features of initial underscore means "to connect to a support call. Maybe they have some fix now, I think remember that some well-known bloggers are fans NUMA.

  • Try to start windows 7 64 bit in safe mode

    My goal is to address "input not supported" error on Acer screen box.  By online advice I press F8 and hold the restart before Windows logo appears but is not in safe mode {I tried this step several times].  If it is my computer is Dell 8500 i7-3770 x and I video cable plugged into the card of chart 1 GB NVIDIA GeForce CT via an adapter supplied with the computer. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    You can access the SafeMode normal mode by selecting Start, run, type msconfig and press the ENTER key. Click on the Startup tab and check the box before the secure startup, click apply and then click OK and restart your computer.

    To return to the normal mode, you follow the same procedure except that you uncheck the box before the secure boot.

  • Install on Windows Server 2003 32-bit OBIEE

    Hi all

    I try to install OBIEE on Windows Server 2003. I have installed the Java SDK from here:
    http://Java.Sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp

    Then I set the JAVA_HOME to be D:\Sun\SDK and %JAVA_HOME%\bin we add the path in the system variables.
    There is also a variable user called Administrator PATH with the value D:\Sun\SDK\bin.

    When I run Setup OBIEE, I wonder for the location of the JDK (JAVA_HOME), but no matter what I come here, I get the following error:
    "Please specify a location for installation of JDK valid."

    I tried D:\Sun\SDK, D:\Sun\SDK\bin and a few others too, but nothing seems to work.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi Alex,

    Try D:\Sun\SDK\jdk

  • Windows Vista freezing, problems starting mode safe mode, Windows Update does not work, etc.

    Hi all. I am operating Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1, 32-bit on an HP Pavilion dv6000.

    My problems started about two months ago, when I installed several updates through Windows Update. I started having problems with my USB ports (even if these pilots were not being updated) and the computer was never able to close successfully. I tried to uninstall these updates, but that did not fix the questions I had. I have also installed software (AutoCAD 2007) at the same time and uninstalled, nothing helps.

    Then my computer started to freeze after running for a few minutes. Time seems to vary from 5 minutes of good use for 1 hour, but I found that it works only because this so long, I only open a program or file and use it all the time (for example, reading a book in Adobe Acrobat format). If I try to open the program or additional files, go to control panel, etc. (read: if I do everything related to Windows Explorer) the computer crashes. I can still move my cursor but none of the windows meet, and I can't ctrl + alt + delete to enter the Task Manager (I get a black screen).

    I was manually shut down my computer every time that happens and boot in SafeMode several times. Sometimes when I try to start safe mode it is hampering the crcdisk file and turns off. It happens not every time, however. Sometimes, when it starts it running the disk check, and there has been some index files that it has been deleted and orphaned files that it has been moved.

    I tried to do a system restore to a point before the updates I've installed in October, but my computer has no points system, restore even if he says it was their creation before you install these updates.

    The last problem is that when I go to Windows Update, it says that I have never checked for or downloaded the updates in the 15 months that I've had the computer - is not true, I, he lost at the time of all the record of it. So although I would like to provide you with wonderful with a record of what I've updated and people uninstalled, I can't because all this information is gone. In addition, I can't connect to the internet to try to check the news updates, because our internet service runs a USB modem, which is not communicating properly with my computer.

    I hope someone has an idea of what's going on. I just can't understand the common point that all these questions arise, my technology skills are somewhat limited, so I hope for a relatively easy solution.

    Sarah

    BTW, all my files were backed up on external drives.

    I don't know Jack about computers, but I don't know that I went through almost exactly the same thing.  My pc was ok, then in a month or two, it took a nose dive.  something I did was too that much could not think of everything.  A friend told me to reset my bios to default settings and see what happens.  After having spent only 7 hours trying to teach myself on bios, I got stabbed in this area and it worked.  Everything is great runnng.  Now I can even right click on icons without crashing.
