  • Unable to connect to the Panel of web directors on ReadyNAS RN102 #24506517

    Hello

After running beautifully for about a year, my RN102 leaves me not connect to its admin panel more. I've never experienced any problems before, I would just go to the local IP address and it worked. No more. Firefox tells me "unable to connect" quite quickly after I try to connect. IE11 and chromium produce similar errors. My PC is on Win7 x 64. Connection on the other laptop does not work either. -I CAN still reach actions and folders on NAS via Windows and Android!

    Some additional information:

    -RN102
-updated to 6.2.2 firmware after which it wouldn't let me not connect
-C' is ethernet wired to the same router as my PC
-I can ping always correctly IP address, and the name I gave the NAS via a command line
-Disabling the firewall of Microsofts does not help
-before he 'broken', I was messing around with external applications, BarracudaDrive and others. Has decided to remove them all, because I do not have it work properly. Delete apps hung the NAS, I pulled the power and rebooted, it.
-J' also reinstalled the operating system using the reboot with the reset button sequence. After reinstallation, log actions of Win7 works well, but no luck on the administration panel.

I'm out of ideas. One who helps me go in my hall of fame.

    See you soon,.
    AK

I looked at the case and see that the problem was due to a problem uninstalling apps, which was a problem known to point 6.2. I am that mark it as resolved.

  • NETGEAR ReadyNAS Pro 2 - shares via Windows - YES - administration via browser Page - NO

    Hi all

A couple of days my ReadyNAS locked up and when trying to turn it off by pressing the power button once and wait to Flash, there is no flash, so after giving him 10 minutes that I pulled the plug, it came back all okay.

Today, spoke with was a volume consistency check that came back everything ok, then to restart, I noticed the fan was spinning now stronger than usual and I couldn't access is no longer the admin via 192.168.0.15/admin page, but I could still access my shares through Windows.

It has been a few hours now, slightly stronger than usual, fan so I try and put out of service, there will be no flash I am left only to pull the plug if I need to turn it off and no access to the admin page.

All advice is appreciated, I hope that this can be corrected with any drastic measures. Thank you

    Dean

Performed a reinstall of the OS and it all works ok.

  • ReadyNAS disrupts TV?

    The installation program

My NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 2 (I know, it's old but still beautiful!) is connected by a single cable LAN to my local network. This local network also connects three laptops, two cell phones (all four wireless) and two televisions (with LAN cable). Televisions are equipped with digital television by the ISP (if it's important, the Dutch company 'KPN'). The phone is also connected to this router by a regular 'Jack' (RJ11).

The ReadyNAS is not often reached for its NAS part: which is mainly used as photo from archive. There is no HTTP, FTP, and SSH servers activated, but the site is not 'high traffic '. The NAS works on RAIDiator V4.2.27.

    The problem

Whenever the ReadyNAS is turned on and connected to the local network (but not "in use": nobody uses three servers or NAS part), the TV signal is 'disturbed': the screen freezes for periods ranging from 10 seconds to several minutes, and sometimes it says to me that she had lost the signal. The disorder do not occur when the NAS is not connected to the network. However, which renders useless SIN of course.

On the proposal made by the technical support of my ISP, I connected the NAS to another outlet. It doesn't change anything. I also changed the LAN port that is used on the NAS. That did not help also.

Perhaps a few explicit questions could help?

    1. Would it be possible that disturbs it are caused by the NAS, or is it just a strange coincidence?
    2. If the NAS may be the cause, could someone please help me solve this problem?
    3. It would be a software or hardware problem?
    4. Otherwise a new/other device operating as NAS and Web server to solve this problem?

    Thank you think!

    Thanks for the newspapers.

Your system has clearly been hacked.

You have a backup of your data?

I suggest that you back up the data on the NAS, do a factory default (erases all the data, settings, everything) and restore your backup data.

  • ReadyNAS 314 ReadyNAS Replicate records do not

    Hello

I'm trying to record from the ReadyNAS admin console the Cloud ReadyNAS Replicate function. Registration does not work.

I turn on the ReadyNAS Replicate function and introduced a popup to enter my username and password. I enter the username and password which gives me access to the ReadyNAS Replicate web site, but I am present an error indicating "username or password is invalid.

The ReadyNAS was recorded before the upgrade to version 6.5 and 6.5.1. Before the update, I was able to see and access the ReadyNAS device from the ReadyNAS Replicate Web site.

    Peripheral ReadyNAS is version: 6.5.1

My assumption is that the problem is not with the credentials, as the credentials work to connect to the ReadyNAS Replicate site.

    Any ideas on the problem?

I have an another ReadyNAS just factory reset with a new drive and it is also not able to register for ReadyNAS Replicate. ReadyNAS RN102, Version 6.5.1

The problem was solved by deleting my existng account and create a new ReadyNAS Remote account.

Something must have gotten messed up with the existing account in the back-end system.

Thank you for the help on the private channel.

  • ReadyNAS 516 as auto feed on configuration

    Hello
Yesterday I turned off manually the ReadyNAS: a work of electric power maintenance was expected in the afternoon. My plan was to turn it on this morning, but the readynas was running since late yesterday.
So I assumed that the system is configured for implementing running automatic on after power failure.
My question is: there is a way to configure it to power on manually after the restoration of electric power?

    My systyem is:
    NETGEAR READYNAS 516 (6X3TB ENT) - RN51663E
    latest firmware 6.4.2.

    Thank you
    Francesco

Last State is the setting for the units of ARMS, so the 516 was unaffected by the bug that has been fixed in 6.5.0 Beta 2.

x86_64 as the 516 units set to POWER ON after power failure. It's not a way to replace this with the exception of the mentioned way StephenB.

  • VMware workstation and ReadyNAS to store the virtual machine

    Hello

I just bought a Netgear Readynas box for home (Readnas RND2000 XRAID SIN) and it seems like a big box to keep a backup of my critical data and flow data and video music.

Now that will take about 100 GB in space and I'll always have weird to play with 400 GB and it made me think if I host all my test VM I created using VMware workstation, for the moment I use a local computer, but its lack of disk space, I tried to put the virtual computer on an external drive and performance is ok on it as well but for me , it would be ideal if I could store them on the readynas and open them through VM workstation.

Of course put it on a NAS box could be problematic, has anyone tried this on one of these boxes ReadyNAS? its probably not designed for this type of data and traffic, but if anyone has got, it works, I would be interested to hear comments.

One of the potential problems in my view is I'll be going through a wireless router with a 4 port 100 mb go and see that as a problem, it replaces a gigabit switch would make a huge difference, or would it still slow?

I would appreciate any advice on this.

    Thank you

I'll guess that your external hard drives are USB.  In this case my answer is Firewire.  I run several of my virtual machines to external Firewire drives very good success.  While I ran a few virtual machines from USB, USB just isn't the sustained performance of Firewire.  This is the case on my Macbook Pro and my HP Pavilion (with built-in Firewire.)

That said, even if I don't have any experience with the ReadyNAS, I use a Windows Server as NFS storage to an ESX Server.  The gigabit switch is almost a necessity.  Possible about 100 MB, but significantly better on gigabit.  In addition, the link of the ESX to Windows NFS is on a physically separate local network segment, so I don't have any problems with the network traffic slows down the virtual machine.  I have not tried Workstation with storage NFS, as I always got Firewire on all my machines so I kept for most of the virtual machine from the network.  YMMV, of course, but I suspect that you will have to keep the rest of the traffic network in mind if you can not create a separate network for NFS storage.  (for example: no internet surfing on the host while the virtual machine is running.)

  • Better conservation to use for the Mac Mini Server

    Hi all

I have a Mac Mini, I want to start using a server around the House. Manage other Macs around the House, centralized Time Machine and are also used as a file server for both Windows I have machines.

Therefore, a Mac Mini with 500 GB of storage, so I obviously need to add much more. Ideally, I'd like to build a 5 4 Bay RAID system but it is there, I seem to be failing and need help. I seem to have 3 options - stroke of lightning, USB, or NAS.

Love at first sight seems to be too much and a lot of people say he exaggerated in any case for a home installation

NAS seems to be the most cost-effective way, but then negates the point of the Mac server still?

USB looks good, but I can't find any decent USB enclosures, are there who would recommend?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

Unfortunately, many would say that Macs are not appropriate to use as real servers for businesses, however some do and for small businesses, they are perfectly usable. Obviously in a situation of host concern the most appropriate a Mac as a server is completely different.

While the most common choice for the storage of a Mac server these days would be an external RAID Thunderbolt for example the promised Pegasus R4 and R6 lines, I agree for a location that a NAS solution may be more appropriate.

A NAS can act as a universal file for Mac and Windows PC server, should not let the Mac on all the time, and most NAS devices support also act as a Time Machine backup server. However, some people say that based NAS servers Time Machine are not reliable enough and you may use a real solution of Apple as a Capsule or a Mac running Server.app and sharing a drive as a destination of Time Machine.

I agree somewhat that NAS based Time Machine systems will not be as reliable as a real Apple one, but I'd also probably say that they are not either completely useless. For example, I use a NetGear ReadyNAS as a system of Time Machine and I'm pretty happy with it.

In addition, for external storage, there are additional options.

    • USB, as you said
    • FireWire is always possible even if you suddenly need lightning to FireWire adapter, you can even get a FireWire RAID solution
    • Love at first sight as the promised Pegasus system I mentioned
    • NAS - you can connect to it via NFS and "re - share" via AFP via the Mac server
    • iSCSI Ethernet to a NAS system, could be directly at a customer or could be're-shared' via AFP
    • Fiber Channel to aid suddenly in love with FDDI card and then have a configuration Fibre Channel SAN - very expensive and often used by video editors
    • Maybe a bolt of lightning to eSATA adapter, then an eSATA storage solution
  • ReadyNASOS 6.4.0 - T136 (beta 4) - network actions disconnect randomly

After you have installed the latest beta version of ReadyNAS (T136) my network shares are randomly falling sporadically.

    Model: ReadyNAS 102

    SW: 6.4.0 T136 Beta 4

    Network connection: CAT6 Ethernet

-Tired of changing the cables, always randomly disconnects

-Tired another port on the router, always randomly disconnects

    Protocol: AFP

Any suggestions? I'd be happy to send the log files. I am not versed in the Netgear ReadyNAS log files, so I haven't looked at them.

Which firmware you would update go?

What version of Mac OS X you are running?

Yes, send logs (see newspapers of sending a link in my signature).
