  • Project from existing projects, new installation uninstalls old

I created a new project, which has many of the same features as an existing project, so I copied the old project, renamed and used this as the new project. When I finished the initial version of the new project and created a release, install uninstalled the existing project.

New projects installed under a different name, to different folder, EXE has a different name. They do not have registry entries that I created.

What should I change in the new draft so that they are two completely separate programs?

Change the GUID, as Ian suggested, should do the trick.

If you are looking for a more 'official' and sanctioned, approach you need to do is to create a new distribution for your new project. As you do, rather than create new distribution from the bottom up, you can say CVI isntead to copy the distribution of distribution of your old project:

  • j6410 over wifi is detected but not settled it on Win7 with the new installation of OJJ6400_Full_13.exe

    Dear all,

I try to install my printer all in one HP Officejet J6410 (connected to an access point) wireless to my HP Pavilion dv5-1155eg laptop running Windows 7 Professional (ENG). I am trying to install using the new "HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver" (OJJ6400_Full_13.exe) for the specified printer. ""

The rest of the HP software installation succeeded it. I am able to see the web interface of the printer from my browser. In the past, before the release of this new driver I could even print wirelessly, using the base driver provided by Win7.

What fails is the installation of the printer itself:

I use the software to 'Add a device' the HP that successfully locates my printer wireless in the screen "found network printers." I selects the printer, press 'Next', Network Diagnostics seems to run ok and then start the installation of the printer, it is firstly says 'printer detected... ". "but she eventually fails with the message:" printer setup is not complete - click Retry to try install again... blah blah. "

To make richer information, I use a firewall of G Data Internet Security 2010 that I followed him and I can see that it is not blocking anything. I even tried installing with the firewall disabled, anyway...

In addition, I tested my printer with HP Network Diagnostic Utility. The utility comes with all the information correctly (network configuration, configuration of the computer, HP printer running services, found wireless).

Any help is appreciated to make it work because it's a major drawback, as you can understand...

    Thank you in advance...

Thanks for the reply, but that was not the solution... As I mentioned earlier, I had tried in the first place without the firewall installation.

But, I found a good solution to the problem, and because it might be useful to others I write it here:

After the movie with the help of HP without success, I managed to find a workaround for the problem:

    1. I uninstalled everyhting about printer software/drivers & restarted windows.
    2. I installed the begin shape everything (the file I downloaded on the site of HP), using the USB option this time and not a wireless.
    3. RESTART WINDOWS (sucks bigtime - respect for unix/linux "reboot is for material changes!")
    4. After you have installed successfully with the USB cable, I chose the option 'Configure wireless settings' Installer extracted files resulting from the file I downloaded frrm the HP site (if after installation, the installer window is closed you will need to locate the extracted in your Temp folder files or just run the file again..). Just follow the instructions of the installer.
    5. This should make the thing! REBOOT (again) and you're ready to go!
    6. (OPTIONAL) For me, the installer actually worked at the last moment, where he stuck permanently. But that was ok, because it's stuck after you set up the printer and corresponding software. After some time, the installer came out with the usual submit an evaluation form. Just ignore it, reboot and everyhting should work. At least it did for me...

  • Link new installation of thunderbird with the old profile.

I created a new profile and stored on an external drive, there is a certain messages, I just had to reinstall win7 and do not know how to link a new installation of thunderbird with my old profile. Seems fair to get a host of issues that do nothing.

Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile and then go to the directory corresponding to your external drive to find your old * *.default file.
Copy your old profile to the directory where your current profile is stored.
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to switch to your old GOLD "profiles.ini" edit profile to change the 'path' in the name of your old profile.
    Restart Thunderbird.

  • My PC crashed. Restored on a new record and a new installation of FireFox. I can still access all the files. How do I take the old bookmarks if there is no backup?

My PC crashed. Restored on a new record and a new installation of FireFox. I can still access all the files on the old drive. How do I take the old bookmarks if no backup exists, or has been completed? Does not save bookmarks of FireFox auto? If, then what is the file name and where is normally stored by FireFox?

In fact, it can be easier...

If you have the old drive connected as, say, drive E, go to:

    E:\Users\username

Then click in the address bar and paste it after this and press ENTER to open it:

    \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Normally, you have only one file, which has a random string followed by "default." In this case, click on this file and find the subfolder bookmarkbackups.

If you find multiple profile folders, look inside to find the most recently updated backups.

To restore the backup files, see: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer

  • Why FF act as if each start is a new installation and hang on to old tabs?

I updated Firefox to version 8.0.1 to 9.0.1 about an hour ago, and it has been wrong since. I suspect it's a matter of preference, but I'm not sure.

Every time I have start FF (or restart), he seems to think that this is the first time, it was run / installed. It checks the compatibility of each extension, once again.

It also opens a new page in "Welcome to Firefox hooray... "as if it were a new installation. Each time, it adds a new tab with this message. Address, it opens:

    http://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/9.0.1/whatsnew/

In addition, it does not follow my load on startup home page settings. It sticks with the old tab rather than that it should open.

I've already gone through and tried to use the information on the pages of the forum helps:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/Firefox%20Has%20just%20updated%20tab%20shows%20each%20time%20You%20start%20firefox?s=page+opens+on+startup & r = 8 & As = s

    and

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/preferences%20are%20not%20saved

They do not seem to have helped matters. Of course, I don't know exactly which lines in the Prefs.js file should be deleted, but I took:

    user_pref ("browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab", false);
    user_pref ("browser.taskbar.lastgroupid", "Mozilla.Firefox.8.0.1");

... and the problems persist. I don't want to go lift more information that I do not understand. Thanks for any help.

Oh, and I made sure there is no running session restore feature, AFAIK (including TabMixPlus). My settings of homepage in the menu Options are correct.

    To summarize:

    (1) stop FF to think every start/restart is a new installation.
    (2) get my home page to load to the correct address.

I don't know what the problem with the old profile, and in this case, it is easier to try a new profile, that spend a lot of time to devote to what is wrong. It could be a prefs.js file or a problem with the registry extensions file or a problem with the files sessionstore or something else.

  • Installed new HARD drive with the new installation of XP, old HDD ShowAs saw as the active partition, how to change this?

I installed a new HARD drive with a new installation of Windows XP Edition family. I want to keep the old HDD and reformat the drive, but I can't because the second HDD is listed as active in the management of the computer. Why? It's not the drive that contains the operating system (Windows XP) that is initialized from.  I put the BIOS such that the new HARD drive is the boot drive. The old HDD has Windows XP on it, but isn't the startup disk. I just don't understand.
If only the new HARD drive is installed, the computer management doesn't show that it or any other of its partitions are the active partition (C drive is listed as the system partition, of course).

How can I get an active partition and no active partition when the new HARD drive is installed on a HARD drive that is not the boot drive, when I have two hard drives installed?

In case it is necessary, the new HARD drive is a SATA and the old HARD drive is IDE with the cavaliers as a slave.

The system partition is the Active partition. The system volume contains the system files needed to start Windows, Windows XP, these system files are:

    NTLDR
    Boot.ini
    NTDETECT.COM
Ntbootdd.sys (present/used only with older SCSI controllers)

Windows files are not necessarily on the system volume, they can reside on another volume, when on a different volume this volume holding Windows files is called the boot volume.

When you install Windows on a computer, playing a mixture of IDE and SATA setup discs tends to favor with IDE drives on SATA drives and tends to use the IDE drive to house the system partition, (even if Windows is installed on a different drive).

Running the command SYSTEM SET at a command prompt may shed some light on the problem...

  • Can I transfer my old regsitry to a new installation of clean boot of windows 7

Can I transfer my old register to a new installation of clean boot of windows 7?  If so, how this is done?  Without a transfer, it is necessary to reinstall all my software and it is very time consuming.

You will not be able to transfer all the registry settings. Unfortunately, you will need to reinstall everything.

No Lightroom does not use a different catalog.

We discuss records, are we not? In the original catalog, you have a folder with one? mark, say C:\Photos, and you used your operating system to move it to F:\Photos. Lightroom has this record showing under the C:\ drive. As soon as you make the reconnection, Lightroom indicates the folder in the drive F:\.

  • How to perform a new installation while keeping the book mark, addons, etc.?

I need to perform a new installation and I would like to keep my personal information, bookmarks, etc.. I know these info are stored separately and want to use it in the new facility. How can I do?

Your personal data are stored in your profile. This folder is normally left intact when uninstalling Firefox, unless you check the option 'remove my Firefox personal data '.

Also note that most of the problems with Firefox are contained in the profile folder. You can get a fresh start while maintaining things like Favorites and passwords resetting Firefox.

  • I'd appreciate it really any assitance on this, I can't save my favorites due to a failure of the system. I can access the drive crashed trhe data. Do my resident Favorites in a file that I can copy and then replace in a new installation, if so, where is

Windows broke down and I need to reinstall Vista. So I can make a backup of my favorites, but I guess that there is a file somewhere on my crashed disk that bears this detail. If so, can I copy this file and replace in my new installation of firefox. If this file exists, I would like to know the name of the file that I need to copy and that I could find it in the directory.

The anonymous gives path is for Vista not XP.

The "places.sqlite" file is the file that contains your bookmarks and history. It is located in your profile folder.

    See:
    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/profiles#How_to_find_your_profile
Display the hidden files and folders

In XP, the path is usually:
    C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default
("xxxxxxxx" is a unique alphanumeric identifier)

When you copy data from your OLD profile to your NEW profile, copy individual FILES (some require more than 1 FILE). DO NOT copy the entire OLD PROFILE folder; It will not work.

  • Has made a new installation, now Dell 962 printer will work not (Win7)

So all of the facts are:

I got a virus on my computer of who knows where. Whatever she is, she decided to remove part of my hard drive. So I had a few antivirus and anti-malware programs, and they did too good a job - I damaged my registry.

If I had no other choice, but do a re-install. I didn't do a new installation; This is the option where all he moved to Windows.old. If the computer is good again, except that my printer is not working correctly.

First, I tried the drivers from the Web site. I tried R151565, which should have done the job. This configuration is behaving oddly, however. It is scheduled to end after he installed the All in One Center, and it is supposed to leave me with a printer that works. This isn't.

Then, since it was a re - install, I had to install updates. An update of the driver from dell was one of them. So I thought that this would solve things. The update was successful, but my printer is not installed.

It never happened to me. The printer is not compatible, or it works. This feels like the printer is in limbo. So, I tried to think about what might be wrong. I looked in devices and printers, and there that caveat to sign on my printer. Then I looked in the devices, and I noticed this strange thing

Why do I have two entries for a printer? This must be an allusion to the problem, but I do not know the answer. I imagine that there must be at least one person who has encountered this kind of problems. Please, help me. Research has brought me here many times, but I could not find a solution that matches my problem

    Hi KenLJ,

Thanks for writing on the Dell Community Forum.

We recommend doing a clean install of the operating system. Asking you to back up data from the Windows.old folder. Please use this link http://dell.to/1sU6QJ3 to restore your Windows 7 computer to factory settings. If this option does not work, then you can manually reinstall Windows 7 using this link http://dell.to/1mN6P6v. If you want the printer don't work, please uninstall the printer driver. Unplug the printer from the computer. Download the printer driver from this link http://dell.to/1IXOCus and install it. Connect the cable from the printer to the system only when the system prompts you to connect the cable. Continue with the installation, and it would print the test page once it is installed. There are two entries in the Device Manager, one for the scanner and the other is for the printer.

Answer please if you have any other questions.
